I remember my first play though I had one crew and bomber survive all the way to the end, then tragically crash on the last mission on the way home, I almost cried. Their sacrifice will be remembered.
@@Redm64Official Feck mate, I fell you. I think the same thing happened to me once, but most of the crew survived the bail out (tho it wasn't the complete starting crew, and maybe just maybe it was in the microprose B17 game^^) But it really hurts when you loose a crew member, especially after a while. I wish more games could make you feel attached to your crew like BC does.
God the hell of being swarmed by fighters infinitely spawning from an airfield that your objective is to bomb, was both amazing and terrifying. Trying to extinguish and repair all the engines while trying to focus on the bombing, with every spare moment being used to target planes.
It reminds me of a less historically accurate, chibi version of B-17 Flying Fortress that came out in 1992. I spent literally hours playing that game with friends until all hours of the night back then. It had significant elements of flight simulator, especially during take off and landing, and while you could time advance when there was no threat of flak or interceptors, you could just as well manually control the entire 7-hour bomb run from take-off to landing, if you so chose. When you got shot at, damage was recorded all over the place. All for engines, all ten crewmen, every control surface, all of the guns, etc. were eligible to get damaged. Crewmembers could be injured and be out for months or killed, requiring replacement crew to be obtained. It even had a simulator for the Norden bomb sight to use during the bombing run itself as well as the ability to take over any of the gun positions for first person shooting at enemy fighters. The player controlled the "lead bomber" in the formation, so none of the other bombers in the group would release their payload until the player released his. Since you fly in formation, it was possible to friendly-fire the other bombers in your group, so that was another thing to pay attention to.

Oh AWESOME! I absolutely loved watching a couple youtubers play this game YEARS ago, thanks for reminding it to buy it for myself, especially with it being on sale. Fantastic video man. Appreciate ya!
Dude I used to rack up hours (300+), oftentimes on the shitter, playing this game. This was awesome. [Warning, past this point is the absolute mess of a petarded fellow reminiscing of past exploits (synonymous with "adventure") in video games, typed during a late night at a time where I should be sleeping.] I got to the point where I tried to make everything as historically accurate as possible with equipment(which albeit wasn't much), reduced fuselage protection to Mk.2, always carrying sufficient chutes for the whole crew, half trying to bring the plane down just to see how many I could bail out. One fun thing I would do is make the nose fuselage the lightweight Mk.1, so sometimes it would break off, oftentimes killing the bombardier if you didn't evacuate the compartment soon enough. You also lost the bombsight, so if you didn't already complete the mission you had to abort and (try to) go home. One time it broke off as I was dropping bombs, so they bay doors were stuck open, draining extra fuel. I didn't use engine extinguishers, not exactly because they were a-historical, but because I think using them was at the price of killing the engine irl. Now if I only had one engine left running, I would send crew out on the wing with a parachute to repair. Not trying to sound like I was sweating over a pixel arcade-y bomber game, it was just something I enjoyed when I was younger. It really scratched an itch I had for WWII U.S. bombers, especially with the focus on the crew; something I thought was particularly both bad-ass and greatly deserving of respect for the men who did it. It's also what got me playing War Thunder. I just loved playing the B-25, anticipating unlocking the early B-17Es, and eventually the B-17G in all of its unpainted glory (quick tangent: I also really love the unpainted schemes on American aircraft from that era. The P-51D-5, while the worst performing of the Ds, looks the absolute greatest, unpainted and with the awesome checkered nose. I also got a really sick hidden camo from warbonds for the D-30, called "Big Dick," Maj. Richard A. Hewitt's mustang, unpainted, black and white checkered nose, red accents and 2 dice rolled as fives.) One last thing; during my bomber grind years ago, I found 2 planes that were absolutely meta, yet no one talked about them (probably because they were tier 1 and 2): the B-34 at 2.0(?) with high alt spawn, good guns, defensive turrets, fine turn and good speed, and the SB2U-3 at 1.3 with a high alt spawn, 4 fifty-cals(!!), and a fine turn. Both did well until you lost your alt, then you were a sitting duck. If you've made it this far, I have 2 things to say. First: my apologies for even posting this convoluted mess for the public to see. And second: thank you for sharing in some of my little joys. Have a good one friend.
That’s a crazy story! And I was doing (almost) the same thing: prioritize parachutes, limiting armor. I’m definitely gonna try no extinguishers and weak nose. I used to do weak wing armor and mid rear: one time half the left wing sheared off and I had to limp the plane home. It would veer to the side and I needed to make constant corrections with the navigator. I was almost back at the base when the same thing happened to the right wing and the plane fell down before I could parachute the crew. I liked it because I couldn’t take my engines for granted, and fuel economy became important if too many engines were done or if I had to patch a fuel tank. Got a few crews wiped out, and lost a lot of individual members because there weren’t enough health kits. Glad to know I’m not the only weirdo doing these tweaks for the heck of it. 😊
Not sure if you know this but the crew are all assigned hot keys. just 1-9 or 1-7 depending on weather or not your playing the DLC or not, to me at least it makes it much faster to get commands out that way
The hotkeys are really the key, when I was good at the game I played it like I was playing piano^^ Nowadays when I jump back into it I play it like an old man, with mostly the mouse and everyone dies, all the time. Same goes for playing it with a gamepad, it's just to slow. Knowing the hotkeys makes the game just very stressful instead of very stressful and frustrating :D
Hey if you ever have to pull a crash landing make sure you pull your bail gunner out of his seat and if you can try and put everyone towards a safe part of the plan which is right around where the radio operator would be
Thanks bro! I hadn’t heard of this game so I watched you play it and decided to buy it on steam for 3 bucks, and it was one of the best purchases of my life. Thank you.

Man I love this game, completed ALL of the campaigns both DLCs and original, and had a blast... up until I got ME-163s shoved up my cockpit, but thats besides the point. I had so much fun, I recently bought space crew which is quite fun
This is one of my favourite games ever, played it like crazy when I was at Uni^^ It's the only game from after my childhood, where I look back at my old "scores" and are like "how the hell did I do that?" Like I have a finished safe where I only lost one crew and no bomber (the key is using the hotkeys, wich I forgot)... Also this was the game that introduced me to Indi games (together maybe with Hyper light drifter), and I've never looked back since.
Glad to see you're having a ball with Bomber Crew! We'd love to chat about some potential opportunties with Badlands Crew, where would be best to reach you?
Hey I have a good suggestion for a name for one of the waist gunners, Harry Charles Rudberg, that’s my great grandfathers name and he was actually a b-17 waist gunner during WW2 so I thought it would be a good suggestion
i remember i once lost all engines and managed to emergency land just in time to avoid loosing my crew, i also emergency landed on the uk so i actually recovered the bomber, and i was super tense because till that point i was at the end game and i only lost 2 bombers meaning that that particular bomber was already almost fully maxxed out
Neat. I enjoyed going through this game. I dont have the DLC and dang! So much crew and so many guns on the B17. I imagine the US missions are accordingly more intensive. I conpleted game and 100% achievements not too long ago with it, only lost 2 crew members.
I remember playing this game when I was smth like 13-14 on the family switch. Probably spent dozens of hours on it but never finished it x). I was at a point where my lancaster was equiped with guided missles and 20mm canon in all the turrets, as well as my crew basically being a bunch of little master chiefs lol. I think I'll buy it back, to finish it and for nostalgia's sake :). Btw! could you name the pilot Marcel Albert? He was a fighter pilot granted, but he was still a badass B) (he's also one of the only ww2 pilots I know so... '^^ ) great video!
I love to just spam the max Dakka for my turrets as soon as i can and then SHRED the enemys into pieaces :D Max Armour build for all the crew, besides maybe the Navigator because he is my dedicated Medic when i get swarmed by the entire german Luftwaffe :D The Bomber is my front gunner most of the time while my engineer is my 2nd side gunner, the navigator is my 2nd front gunner because yes, i have 2 cheek guns for frontal coverage. Besides Pilot and my Radar Guy, every man is arming a MG for self defence :D
I actually played this once, i did a lil Lancaster tomfoolery by naming it "Flying Rock" Yeah, its last mission went about as well as throwing a rock into the water and hope it floats.
I would recommend keeping engineers light weight and give them, plimsolls and blue berets and I armor him less because they always need to run from the back fixing electrical and then go to the wing to repair a engine
I keep forgeting Bomber Crew Came out back in 2017. It's cartonish graphics makes it not age at all. I love the game I started to mod it to have more fun with it.
Got it for free with Xbox’s games with gold before it was removed Planning on getting it on pc (can’t run I’m broke) It’s just, fun. And those moments of “OH SHIT PLEASE CMON CMON” that get sprinkled in with the sometimes text book style missions is amazing game design
Dude I have been playing this game for YEARS, every once in awhile I like to jump on and actually enjoy being in a bomber, warthunder, take notes
I remember my first play though I had one crew and bomber survive all the way to the end, then tragically crash on the last mission on the way home, I almost cried. Their sacrifice will be remembered.

It's a great game. The fact you can custom draw your own nose 10/10
I love this game. I have every achievement for it. Also long episodes are really nice
My god, it's like a WW2 version of FTL, this looks amazing, can't believe I missed it.
Glad to see you're having a ball with Bomber Crew!
We'd love to chat about some potential opportunties with Badlands Crew, where would be best to reach you?
Faye Washington might be the greatest soldier ive ever met🫡
in the beginning she even cracked a smile to let us know she loves her crew and her job😎
never forgotten it, i cried so many times after loosing so many crew, named them after my irl friends T^T
Hey I have a good suggestion for a name for one of the waist gunners, Harry Charles Rudberg, that’s my great grandfathers name and he was actually a b-17 waist gunner during WW2 so I thought it would be a good suggestion
So glad people still know of this game
No way dude. I used to love watching RUclips videos of this game.
i remember i once lost all engines and managed to emergency land just in time to avoid loosing my crew, i also emergency landed on the uk so i actually recovered the bomber, and i was super tense because till that point i was at the end game and i only lost 2 bombers meaning that that particular bomber was already almost fully maxxed out
One of my favorites rest in peace to the fallen
Haven’t seen this in YEARS
After having seen masters of the air and also my grandpa being a B-17 aircraft repairman specialist, I have to play this game
this was super fun to watch. thank you. looking forward to more videos.
Baronvongames introduced me to this game
Dude I got WAY too addicted to this game awhile ago! Way harder and funnier than it looks! 👍
i have a current b-17 campain with a bomber name "lost leg" im alredy up to lost leg 8
I name my bombers Sky High Mark _ and I finished the game at Mark 6 with 4 dead
@@empereurnico6048 dang
Oh man i played this game couple years back, after recently watching "Masters of the Air" and this, i should really dive back in
I absolutley love this game too. I cant wait till badlands crew releases soon.
I literally just reopened the game a few weeks ago!! So much fun!
Honestly the last bit was absolutely hilarious
the fact people forget this game is insane, i’ve played it probably a hundred times and have been doing so since 2019.
Neat. I enjoyed going through this game. I dont have the DLC and dang! So much crew and so many guns on the B17. I imagine the US missions are accordingly more intensive.
I conpleted game and 100% achievements not too long ago with it, only lost 2 crew members.
Bro, I use to watch baron play this game
Brings so much memories back
I absolutely loved this game. I've been playing for some years and have lost a lot of good men
Same here!
BF 110 G with the freaking pointing upwards guns such a weird design, but at the same time pretty funny
great video!
I love to just spam the max Dakka for my turrets as soon as i can and then SHRED the enemys into pieaces :D
Max Armour build for all the crew, besides maybe the Navigator because he is my dedicated Medic when i get swarmed by the entire german Luftwaffe :D
The Bomber is my front gunner most of the time while my engineer is my 2nd side gunner, the navigator is my 2nd front gunner because yes, i have 2 cheek guns for frontal coverage. Besides Pilot and my Radar Guy, every man is arming a MG for self defence :D
The Graf Zepplin was built but never fully kitted out and was only used as a floating barracks. It was sunk as a target ship aug 16 1947
I remember this game when I was a kid lol. Pretty cool
I remember when Baron did his videos on this game, good times
I remember Bomber Crew, baronvongames was where I found it first
I actually played this once, i did a lil Lancaster tomfoolery by naming it "Flying Rock" Yeah, its last mission went about as well as throwing a rock into the water and hope it floats.
I remember playing this everday for a month around the time when the other dlc released
It’s all shits and giggles until crimson 1 time travels and ends up in front of your crew
Game is on sale for $2.99 right now! Bundle with Space Crew and DLC for $10! Actually does seem like something I could get really sucked into.
I had one of the top-5 best scores for this game on Playstation. It was a 4-5hr run.
i could never forget my boys heros all of them
Managed to get this game plus all the dlcs a while back on a offer, maybe I'll give it a shot
This game is great, the USAAF Dlc gave me PTSD😂
Got it for free with Xbox’s games with gold before it was removed
Planning on getting it on pc (can’t run I’m broke)
It’s just, fun. And those moments of “OH SHIT PLEASE CMON CMON” that get sprinkled in with the sometimes text book style missions is amazing game design
I remember Jingles playing this series a few years ago
I loved this game, haven't played it in a while. Maybe I'll have to redownload it and give it another play...
