I've been doing my dark goth makeup similarly to this, and it really is the best way. I personally do the taupe/ mauve shades for blending before the black, to really make things smoky when the black comes in. I'll have to try a black base though, I've been using cream liner as the base and it works great!

I' ve been using MAC Haux and Quarry to enhance my dark circles, blending it out with yellow down to the angular arteria and pure green following my dorso-nasal arteria (I' m exactly Anelochka' s skin shade). For the rest of my face, I go for the other side of the coin, deep greyish hollows to mimic the skull and highlighter wherever a bone is pointy (TMJ, gonial angle...) but playing with puffiness sounds cute. I misuse Sephora's black matte liquid lipstick as an eyeshadow base, consider buying one just to use as base in case the dedicated eyeshadow base products don't work for you. It works the exact same way as described in this video. Take it from someone who has been to hundreds of goth/metal/scene/punk etc parties and festivals and did a lot of makeup. Obviously don't do it if you already used the lipstick on your lips, to avoid infections. Edit: and when you have next to no money, just get an Essence black kohl pencil, and use that as base or something, it's not as great, but still pretty awesome.

I'm in my 30s and I do that trick too. Half line of black eyeshadow on my upper lash line blended at the edges and just a gentle wisp of the nearly empty brush on the outside corner on the lower lid. It can be defining but subtle for natural looking everyday makeup. Or I do the same thing but with a brown shadow if I really want to do the "no make-up" makeup look aka the "I just rolled out of bed looking this perfect" illusion.

@@Draggonny What do you use? I've been just using a standard black or brown eyeshadow. I spray my angled eye brush with setting spray then dip it in the shadow. My shadows are starting to get a bit gunked up, though. I'm wondering if a better quality shadow would help and stop the shadow from gunking up like that. I've also seen actual cake eyeliners but I have never tried any yet. I just can't use the shadows dry. Not as a liner. They end up smearing and moving around unless I've gotten them wet before putting on.

@@deniece0821 I know I’m not the person you were asking, but I recommend Inglot’s Duraline mixing medium. It’s amazing.

@@GreenEyedGumby You know what, I almost got Ingots Duraline. I watch Jaime French and she used to use it often. I ended up getting the Elf version of it. It didn't do so well. The Elf drops works great for a dried up gel liner and things like that but I tried mixing it with a powdered shadow and it just didn't work that well. (I only used the TEENIEST, TINIEST dop of it but it sheered it out too much.) The drops do work great for sheering out cream/liquid blush, though. So it wasn't a waste.
I may end up trying the Inglot Duraline anyway. Elf is pretty good with their dupes but maybe they just missed with the drops. 🤷🏻
      Thanks!

I am new to your channel but your tips and tricks are great! Easy to follow and your so pretty and funny I love throwing your videos on while I'm getting ready. I'm an artist so contouring the face in certain ways makes sense to me as an illustrator. The highlight in the inner corner of your your eyes pulls the dimensions of your face to make them not inset so deep. It's tricking your eyes into reading that space differently! It makes you look more youthful, as darker and deeper set eyes happen naturally with age for the most part. I find looking at how artists DRAW faces can help you learn new ways to add contour for make up, it's just playing with colors lighting and dimensions after all!

Such a great video on Smokey eyes... I struggle everytime with normal black eyeshadow powder because no matter how dark it looks in the palette the pigment is slightly lighter on the eyes (nd yes I've tried a few palettes). But the eye pigment step is I believe a game changer. Loved it.. and GIRL YOUR SKINNNNNNNN!!!!! Butter smooth 😍😍😍 Get better soon n stay shining 🌟

no tips for dark eyeshadow but for brows: i have been experimenting between using hairspray on my spooly (just a bit on each brow) or my boyfriend's hair wax,, both work wonders and whether you want to set it firmly for it to not move the whole night (hairspray) or make it more natural (hair wax), you have both options!
