I've started my running jan 2021 with the Garmin 10k program. Set a goal of 57 minutes and matched it exactly after 12 weeks. Half a year later my shape improved some more, and now my 10k PB is 51:45.
As a new runner Garmin coach was so helpful. It helps you avoid all the rookie mistakes of running too fast in your training, doing too many miles than you can handle as a newbie and then understanding the importance of variety in training. I wish they'd do a marathon one as well.
I really liked the editing of this video: the race interspersed with the training segments. It really propelled the video forward. And, of course, the actual running when Anna didn't have to hold a camera during the run.
Garmin Coach was the main reason i got myself a Garmin. And the fact that one of the coaches is Jeff Galloway that keeps me injury free, PB-ing and upping my VO2max from 42 to 50 in less than 6 months. Just amazing!
I found Garmin Coach a blessing. Especially as it adopts how you’re running. Last year I’ve tried to beat my Half Marathon PB and let Greg do the coaching for it as well, and with success! My Half Marathon within 01:40 is now a fact 😎
I’m in week 10 of the Garmin Coach half marathon training plan with Greg. It’s been brilliant (I particularly like the flexibility to move sessions around). Race day in just over a month!
Great achievement, Anna, really perfectly recovered from COVID! I have already done Garmin coach for 5k, 10k, HM, 10k, and now doing 2nd HM. I like Greg coach the most. 🙂
I got a Garmin watch for Christmas and decided to start a 10km plan to get my time under an hour. It’s been getting me out more often and is a great challenge (hopefully I can keep up all the way to the end). I was wondering if you’d consider doing a video in the future comparing the three training styles available as there wasn’t much information to go on before choosing but I could see how that might be a bit too niche of a video
What a lovely race Anna! I did 2 training with Garmin Coaches, 5k and HM. Both delivered PB, although the HM result was a little short of the time I was aiming for. Itching to enter another training with Garmin coach for the 10K. It is really helpful to have this watch breaking down the goal to manageable chunks. Love it.
I used the Garmin 5k plan a few months ago and I was genuinely impressed with it. Knocked over a min off my previous PB and got me doing much more speed work. I just wish they'd add more plans on e.g. for a marathon.
I've only been running for a year and did my first plan that was 5k with Jeff ending in November and got a time of 23:23. I'm now going for the exact same plan with Greg for a 50 minutes 10k so this was a welcome boost. Well done Anna 💪
I just started the Garmin Coach 10K plan this morning! I'm also coming back from injury and I'm looking forward to getting back into it. Congrats on your PB, Anna!
Congratulations, Anna! A well earned PB 🥳 A couple weeks before Christmas, I started training for my first half marathon (plus wanting to do it under two hours) and am using Garmin Coach, specifically Coach Greg. I love the structure and feeling like I have someone else/something (my watch) to be accountable to. The consistency each week has already benefitted me; I look forward to each run.
I'm just entering the second week of a 5k plan by coach Jeff. I've only done a few workouts so far but it has already focused me on things I otherwise wouldn't of such as cadence
I started a Garmin 10k plan about 4 weeks ago. I love not having to think about what my workout is going to be, I just go out and do as I’m told! And also rest when I’m told to rest because I can easily overdo it!
Great video! I’m half way through a similar plan that you completed, same coach. I really like the structure, flexibility and explanation of the goals within the plan. Good job!
I followed a Garmin plan to train and achieve a new half marathon PB and break the two hour mark. I have completed two full plans and I am getting ready to start my third.
I used Coach Greg for my 5km and 10km training plans n PBd both. You were way faster than me though Anna. I managed 56.09 for my 10km which was a virtual race for the Roy Castle Lung Foundation back in September. My first ever 10km n a huge achievement for me 🥰
Oddly enough I have not long returned from a benchmark run for a half marathon plan. I was building using my own plan for a half marathon for Christmas but went down with a seasonal lurgy on 16th December. Tested negative for covid. Today was my first run back and in spite of being a short benchmark run it felt harder than I think that it would have if I had not been unwell. I have given myself 16 weeks to get to half marathon distance with no time goal, just to finish.
I really like Garmin Coach 10K plan by Coach Greg. I am in my week 8. I like that it adjusts the plan based on where you are in your running journey. You seem to have somewhat advance workouts as compare to me who came from being an occasional 5k runner once a month and slow in 10 to 12 min a mile range. I was just looking for some consistent cardio routine to go with my strength training to shed some weight I gained sitting at home during Covid but like this so much that thinking of starting Half Marathon plan right after I finish 10K plan.
Great run Anna! I’m training to race in a 34 km trail run event in May, and I just started doing coach Jeff’s half marathon plan. The longest run there is 30 km just before taper starts so it should work just fine for my run also :-)
I love the Garmin plans, it’s great having the workouts programmed. I have done all the half plans and it is interesting how each coach is different. Coach Greg I’d my favourite, but the run walk plan was awesome to get back to running post covid.
Thanks so much, have been waiting for this forever! And congratulations Anna! :) Had a couple of rough months and just got back into training, half marathon race in April (Garmin coach Amy!)
Very impressive! Well done. 👏👏👏 Now, just get that down to 50 mins and increase your stamina so you can maintain that 4.2 times as long and you’ll have that Boston Marathon qualifier! It was so nice of Adidas to invite you to have another go this year now that you’re not injured.
A 3:30 marathon is indeed exactly 5 mins per km. But you should be able to do the 10k quite a bit faster than 50 minutes in order to get a marathon done in 3:30h
Needed to watch this today. Fell out the habit of running last year despite my love for it. Been gradually getting out more since the 1st and fully ready to get back to it and proper challenge myself.
I'm new to running this year & after years of smart watches I invested in a fenix7s I'm currently training with the garim coach (Jeff) for my first half marathon in September
I started running at 5 months postpartum, did NHS couch to 5k and went straight into a Coach Greg half marathon plan! I smashed my target time and had a really good time and raised a lot of money for charity, (because who in their right mind has never run before, signs up for a half and completes it at 11 months postpartum...).
I have a Garmin, and used Coach Greg to hit a goal time for a 1/2 marathon this past fall. I am currently just starting out another 1/2 marathon plan (race day: April 24) but this time I thought I'd see what Coach Amy does differently. Today was my first long run. One week down, a bunch to go!
Congratulation to your new PB Anna. I have been training with Coach Greg for two years now - first as a Garmin Coach (10K-HM) and then I have bought two plans which were not available (3k, 50k) as a Garmin Plan. I really like his training plans and they are not only fun to follow (most of the time) but they also work. New PBS for 5K and Marathon plus successful finish in the Ultra race. So I can also really recommend the Garmin Coach Plans to get some structured training.
I did my first Garmin couch plan as 10km - choice the same couch Greg as well. My long run build up was up to 13km and 10km long run was 1hr20min. With the garmin 10k couch plan, I managed to get PB 1h10min! Wow thats so cool, slowly slowly but surely ill get faster. Its cool to see the 10k plan was different, my goal was to complete 10km. Look forward trying 10k again for new PB. 😊. Great Job Anna congrats, i really enjoyed how this video was edited
My coach is making an individual plan for everyone in my running team. I am personally training for a sub20 5k with my pb of 20:19 but there are people on the team running anything from 400 meters to 10k as their main distance
Nice work on getting your time. I did have a look at the coach feature the other day. would be nice if you could add the non negotiable Saturday morning speedy Parkruns :)
Good to see you on the come back. I thought of you when I had my injury. It's such a struggle. Felt so helpless not being able to run and was mentally draining. I had a muscle strain in my back from work. Couldn't run for a month and a half. Couldn't even stand up for more than 5 min without pain for the first 3 weeks. I remember having dreams about running and feeling good only to wake up and not be able to get out of bed. I'm on my 3rd week of running again and am at 5k's 5 days a week. Thanks for your guys stories, experiences, and advice. It helps some of us who may not have a strong running community for help and advice.
Great video, and yet again I've learned something about my Garmin - this looks brilliant. I always have a break over the holiday period, and looking forward to getting back to it now. I'm going to try the 5k plan to get my time down.
Just input all my workouts for the 80:20 10k plan and then found out about garmin coach. Will do the 80:20 plan and then look at Garmin Coach for my next goal.
I would give just about anything to run. Injured the back of my right heal in a 5k race 2 months ago and despite resting and PT, it’s not getting any better. They tell me it’s a bone spur, but I am getting frustrated with the seemingly complete lack of progress with the treatment of rest and increasing my dorsiflexion. Follow up appointment is in a week so wish me luck.
I just moved up to a 245 Music from a 235 put three runs of data on it. Next run, it asked me if I'd like to complete the suggestion it offered. Thought, Hey YA! I didn't think I could run flat out for 2Km. I did! Hot tommalies. I'm going to be using this coaching feature more often!
Great effort on the PB, Anna. You have inspired me to use the farm in coach to help me get back into running. I have been trying for a while and the lack of structure has been my downfall.
Doing a marathon plan with Stryd for the Rotterdam marathon in april. I train with power instead of pace or heartrate. With Stryd temperature, humidity en altitude is taken in consideration as well as the wind.
Just looking at starting a Garmin Coach HM plan in the next few weeks. I’m booked in for the Great Manchester HM in May, my first HM race for 20 years!
Inspired to get back to running after watching your several videos about garmin coach, and just checked out the fr55 🤣 Hope I can stay consistent following the training plan 😇
I used a 1/2 marathon coach from Garmin coach for my first half. My race was a trail 1/2 and I totally underestimated how technical and brutal this trail was but.., I got fitter, faster and stronger only missing 2 sessions in 17 weeks. I lost about 15kg and although I blew out my goal finish time by 40min I had absolute confidence during the race I would finish no problem. I can actually hit the goal time on road/pavement. I totally recommend Garmin coach for a first time race distance, from my experience.
I used the Garmin coach during the pandemic to train for a half marathon. The HM was postpone several times, and I had suspend the training many times. Finally, there was a HM that it wasn’t postpone, but unfortunately three weeks before the race I caught a cold. I managed to run the HM, but I missed my target time. However, the trains with the Garmin were very good and my form improved a lot. What I miss in Garmin coach? I miss a program that is not a beginner program but one design to keep the form. Also, since I do some biking, I miss the fact that Garmin coach do not seem to take into consideration other activities that you might have being doing besides running.
Well done on your PB. I’m using the Garmin coach for my next 1/2 marathon, mainly for motivation to get out running or I’ll turn up to a race without training and the courses around here are quite hilly (Derbyshire). If your looking for a PB 10k course Bolsover run one in Dec (you can compare your years running), fairly flat course which is unexpected for Bolsover as that area is very hilly.
I've been doing the 5K plan with Jeff to get my 5k time under 30 minutes but about 4-5 weeks in I have picked up a case of runner's knee after a couple of more challenging sessions. So I'm pausing the plan and will pick it up again once I'm recovered. Gutted because I was enjoying it up until that happened.
yes Garmin Coach is super nice, after a 5 years break from running I started again with the coach fore a 5k run super nice 2 month later a 5k under 30 minuts 😍🤩😍🤩
I love the Garmin coaches I’ve trained for at least 2 half marathons and a couple of 5k and 10k and I’ve used the half marathon training program for 2 of my 6 marathons and I pr my last marathon by 30 hour 😁
Desperate to beat 50-minutes for a 10k early this year, before I elide into marathon mode for September/Octoberish. I have a Forerunner 245 so Anna's effort is much appreciated. I must dig into the app in the next day or so. Ideally, I'd like a plan that will enable me to parkrun most Saturdays. A plan that would enable me to spend five or six evenings a week in the pub would also be ideal, but I don't think there's a star you can wish on that will deliver on that.
Great insight Anna, thank you and congrats 🤗👍! I got myself a personal trainer who sends me every week a trainingplan, to reach my 2022 goal. Main goal will be the Amsterdam Marathon 2022, under 4h. Garmin really helps me to follow the trainings with my Fr945. Amazing how easy it is to programm my own training sessions! Love it! Take care 😃
I have about 3 weeks left on Coach Amy's plan to do a 10km in under 50 minutes. I have found it hard in terms of session lengths, which are rarely under 10 km in distance and the study run is 14or 15, and have watched the little gauge of coach's confidence drop. I am just about in the green zone. There are no races in Saxony right now. I am not sure I will be able to make myself hit my goal without a race, however I have decided to enter a marathon in June, hoping it will happen and hope this is the kick start to longer runs II need for harder training. Well done for attaining your goal!
Great to see this, have been considering a planned training schedule using my watch (Polar), hopefully it can help deliver similar success. Thanks Anna, great content as always guys !
i just started with Amy to get to improve my 10 k PB and mostly to suggest different styles as i tend to do always the same when i go out for running and that's probably why my time hasn't improved much over time I don't have an ending goal as i don't do races, i just run for personal pleasure but even so it's nice to see improvements. I find it a bit slow at first but i have a feeling it will get much harder soon. i will keep including strenght sessions in between
I got a garmin 245 music and cant wait to start using the coach feature, it looks brill. Into week 4 of marathon so will have to wait until after that but really looking forward to using it .
I did the 10k plan with Greg culminating in a 10K last January. Not a race - just a birthday treat. Not a PB either - but as I was just coming back into running after several years away, was just wanting sub 50 min, and came in 49:17 I believe. I then also used for a HM in October. Weirdly it seemed to start tapering about 5 weeks out - I was concerned I was simply not getting enough miles in, and really struggled in last 5k (well that's HMs I guess). I don't really like only being able to see 1 week ahead, and when doing the 10k plan, when I rearranged runs, it started allocating long runs to my non-long run day, so I had to keep cancelling workouts until I got a long run on a Sunday.
For my marathon training i used polar flow training plans. You can choose the intensety and the nummer of sessions. What i mis about it, is they don’t take you experience en current fitness 100% in to account. So coalsetting is a bit tricky.
I was really enjoying my 16 week 5K plan and doing very well but then, unfortunately, with just two weeks to go I got ill with flu and couldn't shake it off for the whole of December. I've just started running again but have lost a massive amount of fitness and can't return to the plan just yet. I think I will need another couple of months of easy training before I get back on the plan.
Have a few goals for the year, main one is trying to get under 3h 30 for marathon in Oct, that'll be 13 mins off my current pb, and going for under 4h in local marathon in June when it's usually hot for the event. Think will need to be hitting 1h 40 for half, 3 mins off current pb there, so a lot of work to do. Some informed guidance will be needed, will check into the Garmin coach and if it can help me get my times down, thanks
Hi, Anna! Really great job on setting a new 10K-PB! I am currently in the 13th week of my HM-training plan (I also btw picked coach Greg!) and I'm aiming for a PB of 1h44m. I would really like to know, how you managed to do a Zwift workout, and then making it count in the coach plan? Or did I misinterpret what you said ..? Thanks a bunch for being a great motivator!
Well done Anna. Doing 10k as my normal now and thinking of stepping it up again soon. Slightly tricky as I have to drag Type 1 Diabetes along for the run which already takes a chunk of extra planning so not sure I want to do on top of running in the dark and cold. Spring plan?
I want to go for 10K at the Wings for Life race in May and a set up my Garmin 10K plan yesterday. It's the first time I use a real plan. I'm usually just running . We'll see...😁 Oh, and by the way, is there a Running Channel team this year at the Wings for Life?
Great job Anna! You looked very strong and confident in this run, and your happiness to be out was felt throughout. Sarah posted a video about doing the workouts her watch told her to do for 30 days, and she used a Forerunner 55. Are you using a different Garmin or the same?
This is great 👍. I'm almost 50 yeas old and only started running about a year or so ago. I have so far completed a 5k in under 30min and then a 10k under 59min following these plans 💪. Currently I am following the plan for half marathon and it's going well so far. Highly recommended 👍👍. Garmin body battery is so useful for ensuring that you don't over do it and end up getting injured.
Oh, I'm using the forrunner 245 music watch. I started withe the forrunner 45 but got 245 as a treat for completing my 10k goal 😁. 245 has a slightly bigger screen compare to the 45 or 55.
I'm new to running and have been using the Garmin coach to prepare for races. I used the 10k plan for the Manly Sun Run 2022. I'm currently using the Half Marathon coach to prepare for the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon in 3 weeks time. Both are, and have been, great, even for a noob like me. Greg McMillan is my coach. My only gripe now is that there is no "dynamic" plan for full marathons, which is my next step... what to do?
I've started my running jan 2021 with the Garmin 10k program. Set a goal of 57 minutes and matched it exactly after 12 weeks. Half a year later my shape improved some more, and now my 10k PB is 51:45.
As a new runner Garmin coach was so helpful. It helps you avoid all the rookie mistakes of running too fast in your training, doing too many miles than you can handle as a newbie and then understanding the importance of variety in training. I wish they'd do a marathon one as well.

This is awesome I started the same thing last week. Aiming to complete a 10km in under an hour. At The Gold Coast Running Festival in April.
Sounds excellent, Marc!
@@runningchannel Garmin Coach is great

So good to see Anna racing without tears in the end. Good start to 2022
Haha! 👏 felt good to race and not cry, to be honest!!
@@anna.the.runner You deserve it! 💪 Keep up the good work
I've just started a 10k garmin coach but with Amy! Booked a 10k race for the end to make sure I have something to aim for :D
Nice one Vicky!
How did it go?
I used the Garmin 5k plan a few months ago and I was genuinely impressed with it. Knocked over a min off my previous PB and got me doing much more speed work. I just wish they'd add more plans on e.g. for a marathon.

I just started the Garmin Coach 10K plan this morning! I'm also coming back from injury and I'm looking forward to getting back into it. Congrats on your PB, Anna!
Good luck with your training, Katie!

The dreaded 10k. 2 x 5k races back to back. Well done Anna. Looking strong! Props to the production team. Love the format on this one.
Thank you 🙌 Such a slick edit from the team 👌
I followed a Garmin plan to train and achieve a new half marathon PB and break the two hour mark. I have completed two full plans and I am getting ready to start my third.

I just signed on to the 10k plan to kick start the year. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love the Garmin plans, it’s great having the workouts programmed. I have done all the half plans and it is interesting how each coach is different. Coach Greg I’d my favourite, but the run walk plan was awesome to get back to running post covid.

Inspired to get back to running after watching your several videos about garmin coach, and just checked out the fr55 🤣
Hope I can stay consistent following the training plan 😇
Well done Anna great result! and I will be tapping into the Garmin Coach! thanks for sharing this!
Great Video Anna! Thanks! 🙂💪🙌
Following the 5k connect plan. Love the variety
Been waiting for this vid for a while. Great as always!
Thanks Andre 😊
Your dedication is inspiring. I just got the Garmin 45 for the holidays. I am starting with the 5k coach program.
Hope you enjoy the coach program!
I’m doing this plan right now but sub 60, just did my 70 min long run! 🙂
I love the Garmin coaches I’ve trained for at least 2 half marathons and a couple of 5k and 10k and I’ve used the half marathon training program for 2 of my 6 marathons and I pr my last marathon by 30 hour 😁
Awesome. Just started my training plan on my Garmin ☺️ aiming for under 2 hours half marathon 🤞🏻
Well done on your PB!
Me too!!
It would be so useful to have metric measurements when mentioning imperial pace.
Love it! Take care 😃
Nice one Nik!
I did 2021 5k plan and for noobie it was very helpful. Im going to do it again this spring :)
Great video, well done Anna. Like the guest appearance of RUclipsr Fordy Runs in his Santa suit at the end cheering Anna over the finish line. 😂
I’ve just started a Half marathon training plan with Garmin coach so fingers crossed 👍
Singed up for the 5k plan. Hopefully just the motivation and structure that I need!
Steady not study
Great to see this, have been considering a planned training schedule using my watch (Polar), hopefully it can help deliver similar success. Thanks Anna, great content as always guys !
Thanks for watching!
i just started with Amy to get to improve my 10 k PB and mostly to suggest different styles as i tend to do always the same when i go out for running and that's probably why my time hasn't improved much over time I don't have an ending goal as i don't do races, i just run for personal pleasure but even so it's nice to see improvements. I find it a bit slow at first but i have a feeling it will get much harder soon. i will keep including strenght sessions in between
This is great, thanks for sharing your journey!
I got a garmin 245 music and cant wait to start using the coach feature, it looks brill. Into week 4 of marathon so will have to wait until after that but really looking forward to using it .
Yay I've been waiting for this video. 😁
Brilliant stuff Anna!!!
For my marathon training i used polar flow training plans. You can choose the intensety and the nummer of sessions. What i mis about it, is they don’t take you experience en current fitness 100% in to account. So coalsetting is a bit tricky.
Interesting to watch this as Ive just replaced by TT Runner with a Garmin F55 :)
Well done Anna, you’re ace!
This is awesome, I need me a new Garmin watch, one with Garmin Coach. I have Soo much FOMO😭😭😭😭
Well done I'm just starting back after a tough year out...
Good luck Sandy!
Some informed guidance will be needed, will check into the Garmin coach and if it can help me get my times down, thanks
i’m following a plan right now for a 10k with coach micmillian too!
So exciting!
First yes! These get upload at 6am in Canada.
I started last week also, an half marathon at 1h30! That’s gave even more motivation to achieve it! Cheers Anna!
PS: I’ve chosen the same coach!
Amazing!
Yay Anna! Awesome stuff :)
Well done Anna. Doing 10k as my normal now and thinking of stepping it up again soon. Slightly tricky as I have to drag Type 1 Diabetes along for the run which already takes a chunk of extra planning so not sure I want to do on top of running in the dark and cold. Spring plan?
Doing the heart rate marathon training plan on Garmin connect
Yea! It was the same watch as Sarah used. They’re on loan to the channel 👍 So glad you enjoyed the video 😊 thanks so much
I'm new to running and have been using the Garmin coach to prepare for races. I used the 10k plan for the Manly Sun Run 2022. I'm currently using the Half Marathon coach to prepare for the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon in 3 weeks time. Both are, and have been, great, even for a noob like me. Greg McMillan is my coach.
My only gripe now is that there is no "dynamic" plan for full marathons, which is my next step... what to do?
Congrats Anna👍
Well done Anna!
