Even listening to it now, it's still fresh.
This band remains one of my favorites. The knife attack ended up destroying the original formation, but they had several excellent albums.
This band was *big*. There was a wild story about an incident with an obsessed fan that didn't come out for a long time, apparently the person broke into one of the singers' house (Linn) and her bedroom carrying a knife. She also didn't perform as lead singer much in the later years of the band
It was Jenny who was attacked. The crazed “fan” was there looking for Linn, though. Thank god she wasn’t there.

There are some actually really good quality live vocal performances of ATSW on RUclips, so it’s unfortunate that you came across a lipsync first. It was typical of pop acts in the 90s to lipsync because they were doing multiple TV performances a week all over the world in studios that weren’t capable of handling the unique technical/mixing issues of all the acts coming through. As for the Nazi rumors, most of that is bogus. Ulf (miming the sax) was 13 when he was groomed and taken in by a Nazi gang. He got out of it at 16, focused on music, and turned his life around. He had been out of that gang for years before joining Ace of Base. Even in interviews in 1993, he was already disavowing the gang and everything they stood for, that it made him sick. He got legit death threats from bitter Nazis, and had to perform on stage with AOB wearing a bulletproof vest. Ace of Base’s music was intentionally ANTI-fascist, like the recently famous again (because of X-Men 97) - “Happy Nation”. I would suggest giving them another shot. Their non-singles like Young and Proud might be more your jam.
Thank you for sharing the truth. Too many miss info articles from grifter journos pretending Ulf didn't repeatedly reject his teen past. Also we all had cringe teen years, let's not pretend we're innocent
