Ya in the US this style was more early 90s. Maybe late 80s but definitely saw more of what Carreys rep'n here in the 1990s. The 80s were a bit different. Im not much of a style guy so its hard to explain but I know it when I see it.

He took it over from Jack Parr back in the 60's when it was based in NYC and went Live at 11:30. They moved the production to Malibu but still kept the 11:30 EST time slot. @Dick Burns - No he put out a couple of good movies after that, his issues started when he did that Andy Kaufman film. In 2017 they did a bio of that movie with Jim talking about it. You will notice that making that movie literally made Jim Carrey crazy. He truly gained mental health issues after that movie and if you watch the bio of it you will see it in his eyes. I liked Bruce Almighty and Liar Liar but I think his best work was that movie the number 23. I always felt he would make a good dramatic actor with a touch of evil, he should do a serial killer type role. But lately with all his anti_ Conservative BS he has ruined his chances of having another hit movie.
