TJ great vid on hooks I also wanted to add if u don't wanna upsize the hooks and stay in same range of size and have strong hooks. You can just get a heavier gauge hook like 3x #4 or 5 and etc vs upscaling on the whole size of the hook. It really helps especially if u got other fish like pike or snakeheads even hybrid stripers and keeps u from bending ur hooks out all the time.

Found a Green Gizzard lure. Hooks dull and split ring needs changed out. Lure in great shape. Didnt have one. Will rebuilt it soon. Then give it try. Shawn

The easiest way I figured it was jerkbaits, small minnows and small cranks #2 split rings and #6 hooks. 1.5 size #2 split ring but you can use a #3 split ring with short shank hooks and always a size #4 hook. 2.5 and larger lipless size #3 ring and #2 hooks. Only time you'll need a 1/0 treble is for a large swimbait lol. Just started getting things together to paint and build custom hardbaits. You're right about split rings too some are in mm, some are micro rings so size can be different. Spooks is a #4, spook jr #6 or #4 and a 5" spook #4 or #2. I figured small means smaller hook larger means larger hook after researching tons lol

The trouble I have with trying to buy treble hooks online is I can't tell how big they are by looking at them. I've got several brand new 6xds that got a little rusty because my tracker is terrible about holding moisture. So I have to pull all my tackle out of my boat each time I get back

Whats best for treble hooks is replace with inline circles - Mustad Kaiju and pinch or grind (file) all your barbs.

How can you tell what size hook the bait came with if it isn't labeled on the package?
The sizes I mentioned for each bait in this video are pretty standard. I'm sure you can look up the sizes online as well though.

I wouldn't. You want them at the line tie to avoid tying in the split.
