Yes! My parents thankfully supported all of my decisions when it came to hobbies and sports :) I come from a speed skating family (my dad is a trainer, my sister won 8th place in the nationals in the youth devision), but I’ve also done gymnastics, and stopped when they tried to force me into doing competitions, I was just in it for the fun. With skating I was always the same, and I just participated in the competitions for fun, not to win. Even slided over the finish line once 🤣 Thankfully that environment was a lot better for kids that just wanted to have fun. Skiing was the same story, sister would win the cups, I’d just do it for the fun. And then my dad got a cup especially made for me, which was really sweet.
Agreed!!! That’s me with gymnastics. I was a gymnast for 10 years and had the same mindset; did it for fun, worked hard, did well, and retired at 12 when my family moved. 😂

That’s why I re-quit ballet as an adult. The first few rounds were taught by the same teacher as the kindergarteners and she made ballet so much fun!!! The third round though was taught by a different teacher who was really strict and perfectionistic. I was like, I’m 26-7, in the military, and have ankle issues. I’m not looking to dance professionally. This was my escape and you took all the fun out of it. 😭 Why is there no space for teens and adults who don’t want to be good at something but just have fun? No choirs, no baseball teams outside of churches, no ballet, no ice skating (although I did have good luck with adult hockey lessons just being fun).
True. I have horses and do competitions and such, but I knew from when I was a child that it was only ever gonna be a hobby and not something I wanted to do professionally. Luckily its much easier to have horses as hobby than it is to do other sports, because you can chose if you want to work hard or just have fun and relax. I would love it if I could start gymnastics, but im scared that the teachers are gonna want us to work 4 hours a day everyday and be perfect, instead of just having fun. Like I know at 25, im not gonna be the next Simone Biles, so I would just do it to have fun, but Im scared the teachers wont see that. 🤣
@@Kelseyguurl Ohh, I know we have football for those kinda things, like they still play matches against other clubs, but I also know they drink a lot of beer before and after the games 🤣🤣 So completely competitive it cant be with the amount of alcohol they consume. 🤣
In most martial arts classes they don’t really push you to become a professional fighter and most of them are really fun! I highly suggest it if you’re looking for a sport that wont be so competitive (don’t get me wrong some people try and be rough and tough because they have issues and insecurities to work through but those are the outliers and most other students and/or teachers are fine)

Hey Mia, if the rosacea is still an issue, I would highly recommend organic sea buckthorn seed oil. It’s amazing & found at health food stores usually. Won’t clog pores & can be put on at night or under makeup too. However your skin looks absolutely gorgeous so I doubt you need it ☺️
Omg Mia this video brought back all of my memories from getting ready for dance recitals. I danced for 10 years and also quit around age 13 because it was getting to be too serious and I didn’t want to be at dance class 6 days a week but sometimes I miss it and this gave me so much nostalgia, loved the video

I relate so much to what you said in the beginning. I did ballet for 8 years and loved the beauty of it, but it got to a point where I had to decide on going professional or quitting. It was not easy, but I ended up quitting. I am still so grateful for the experience though. I learned so much. 😇♥️

I had one of those hair thingies too! Thankfully my skating club was a little crazy and they gathered all the moms for one evening of crash course of making a proper ballet style hair bun and I was saved from having that as my competition hairdo! They also took our moms to a makeup school to learn how to do our makeup. This also meant that if someone didn't have their mom at a competition, anyone's mom was able to sub for them.

I relate so much to what you said in the beginning. I did ballet for 8 years and loved the beauty of it, but it got to a point where I had to decide on going professional or quitting. It was not easy, but I ended up quitting. I am still so grateful for the experience though. I learned so much. 😇♥️

I had one of those hair thingies too! Thankfully my skating club was a little crazy and they gathered all the moms for one evening of crash course of making a proper ballet style hair bun and I was saved from having that as my competition hairdo! They also took our moms to a makeup school to learn how to do our makeup. This also meant that if someone didn't have their mom at a competition, anyone's mom was able to sub for them.

omg mia my mum also made me wear a weird little curly hair toupée doused in hairspray for every dance competition HAHSH the amount of hair pins & how tightly back it was pulled was migraine worthy 💀
