He's not bad. The distinction you're observing is due to the weight of the ball. The ball was about 3 lb. heavier, that makes the game appear much different. Excepting conditioning of players, the major aspect of the game that has improved are defenses. However defenders in the day were no joke and stopped attackers with hard tackles. Di Stefano's skills would be equally as evident if he grew up in the modern era.

I don't think the word "overrated" can apply here in the first place. Alfredo Di Stefano is without any doubt one of the greatest players of all time right there with Pele, Best, Maradona, Eusebio, Puskas, Messi, Ronaldo, il Fenomeno and may others. It is highly ungrateful to compare players from different eras. Sure if Pele or Puskas get magically teleported to 21 century from time they played they would suck because well they would have a 50 year gap in technology, training programs and sports food and equipment advancement. You see in my book talent and hard work are forever and you just cant take that form any man on the other hand every other thing is a consequence of technological advancement and need to be put in perspective. So yes if they would come from the 50s they would suck just as Ronaldo and Messi would score 21322313 goals in season but in reality time traveling is impossible and that kind of logic is shitty. Like i said everything needs to be put in to perspective. If Di Stefano, Pele or any other great player was born in lets say 1989 they would have the same conditions like Messi, Ronaldo or any other modern footballer and there is no doubt in my mind that they would be among greatest footballers in the world. You see today footballers have perfect conditions for training they have whole teams of experts taking care of them and planing every little thing for them from training to food intake. Footballers today play with perfect and light balls in perfect kits and boots made especially for them unlike footballers in 50s who played with balls which would get soaked with water if there was rain and kits in which you where sweating like a pig. I remember one charity game in which players played in old kits and on half time half of players look like they will die from overheating and they could not wait to switch to their kits oh and did i forget to mention that boots from 50s where like military grade shoes today i know because i hold one pair in my own hands. Also to talk that football was not rough then as it is today is very stupid. Players where never more protected then today. If you do not belie In Di Stefanos time there was no red cards. If you want to see what is rough football i strongly suggest english football league games from 80s or football in that era overall. For the info Claudio Gentile fouled Maradona like 25 times in 1982 world cup game and after game he said that football is not for ballerinas now try imagine some one doing that today to Messi, Ronney or Ronaldo during the world cup in brazil yeah right there aint 25 fouls in games today. So that is when people say Ronaldo and Messi would score two millions goals in a season if they played in 50s i say no. To be honest Messi wouldn't even play football in 50s because he was born with a growth hormone defect so he would not grow above the size of the average hobbit and as for Ronaldo well he would be one of the best footballer in that era but he could not compare at any level with today's Ronaldo. The technology is advancing and people are learning more and more every day so in 50 years today's athletes will look to people from future like those from 50s look to us. Lets say that in 50 years some guy run 100 meters in 8.99 breaking a 9 seconds barrier will that mean that Usain Bolt sucked or that he was the fastest man on the planet in his era have in mind that i m talking teoretically here. I get sad when i see how people trash talk about athletes from history like they suck, they could not do shit today because those people sacrificed as much as any other athlete today if not more and they need to be respected. You see they had the same conditions like any other man from that time and they came on top just like guys today.
Well, the ball was much heavier at the time and the game consequently slower. In my opinion, there is no best player, there is possibly a best number 10, why not ? But in which case, I prefere Baggio and Platini to others. The most skillfull, in which case no one can compete with Romario and Maradona, who could do the same thing with a ball or a can of coca-cola! Romario scored approximately the same number of goals than Pelé. You could also say that there are the best tacticians, in which case Baresi and Deschamps would probably be the best. I personnaly prefere Baggio, because at the time I was Young :), and I could appreciate the fact that I will never be able to do what he was doing with the ball, and never be able to have the vision of the game he had… He actually had a leg shorter than the other, and as a kid he was told that for this reason he would never play football, but he did and he was definitely the most elegant and in my opinion the best at many levels at the time. I also loved Vialli. Now, I love also Zidane, but Zidane was very slow, some people like that when it is slow, I prefere when it is a bit faster, with a better rythm. I suspect, it is like for everything, everyone is different :)
To those who say Di Stefano wouldn't be all that special if he played now, I say, you're probably right... But remember, he's 87 years old.
But also he's dead

According to my Shazaam, the song is Cashmere the Pro - Tear Tracks
Great video!
Somebody knows the name of the track?
greatest player of all time
what sound track is this?
2:41 un kilómetro se adelantó el arquero
RIP ):
The best Argentine player of all times, compare to Pele and Puskas
lol he looked like robert de nero at the end lol 3:36
DI STEFANO the best ever player, Pelé didn't have a patch on this guy.
Pele was better
Henry McCallion
Pele was overrated. Amazing player no doubt but he never proved himself league-wise.
The01t Thats true but he accomplished so much so fast. He is the worlds best footballer
He won lots of titles with santos
Henry McCallion He was good but Di Stefano was more complete. I think he was better than Pele.
i'm really sorry but i really don't know for the music.i've lot of stuff on my pc, there's no name on this one. it's from "cunninlynguists" maybe
Cual es la música?, no encuentro esta -_-
Well, the ball was much heavier at the time and the game consequently slower.
