Thank you for sharing this. I'll be throwing my first local show tomorrow and I've been super pumped all week. It's the night before and all these thoughts of doubt started to creep in. Feel like I'm going crazy with putting so much effort but I know it will be all be worth it.
I see my friends bragging about their degrees and how their starting salary is 40k a year, etc, and I think to myself how fun it would be to see them walk a day in my shoes. in the music industry, success is not guaranteed for your hard work. they get to write their essays and hand them in then get a degree that lets them go and get a high-paying job. it's a very straightforward path. I don't think they could handle what we do. I don't think most people could handle this type of work. people like to know their hard work is guaranteed to pay off, they would not work a job if there was a 1% chance their boss would pay them. but us musicians are crazy enough to gamble on life like that as we know the reward is worth the risk.

I just want to say if anyone out there is worried / thinking along the lines of 0:35 I've had multiple 'Stability for Life' jobs, not worth it. Not everything it's chalked up to be.
I'm actually making it here in Lima-Perú, the chaotic and insanely populated (13 million humans) major city of a 3rd world country (southamerica), with my raw voice and a shamanic drum !!!!! Yes, you're reading well !!!! If I can make it, ANYONE CAN MAKE IT !!!!
I feel exactly like this video..did I make a mistake, should I just quit? But deep down I know I’m made for this and I wouldn’t be able to handle a cubicle, my brain doesn’t function that way, it needs to be stimulated by creating music.. Another thing I worry about is, I’m more of an underground music producer, progressive house (think of Hernan cattaneo, guy J, nick warren) and I don’t know how I would be able to reach the level I want to be at.. it makes me feel so dejected at times and question myself. I’m learning how to dj, and have gotten significantly better at my music, I might sign a few tracks to some great progressive labels like Mango Alley, Balkan Connection in a few months to a year even, I’m confident. But I still worry about how I go on from there in terms of growth and success.. it’s scary
I'm at the engineering school, I get really good grades and I also work on my music. I'm smart at school too. Is that a reason I'm NOT made for music ?? 😨 But really, I start to be scared about that 😓
i'm really ambitious to grow on youtube super fast, i'm hoping to get an Instagram soon to help promotion. do you have any other promotion tips? also, i'm hoping to join the academy soon! i don't know if being 14 is too young for the program though 😅
