My family visited Blackpool every year when I was a kid and Pontins was my favourite location to stay at. The entire camp was well looked after and the staff were great fun. The last time we stay was in '92 and the camp, like the town, had started to go downhill. Closed off blocks and the interiors were looking a bit drab. Maybe it's because I was 20 at the time and working in hospitality that I picked up on this were as on previous visits I was just a wide-eyed kid supping up all the positives and ignoring the negatives
Had some great times there. Many as a child with my parents in the Early 80s, then with my own children in the early 2000s... A part of British life gone forever - RIP... :(
I'll miss this place loads. Spent lots of time in Croc Club as a kid and loved working there to. Just wish I could have made it for the last week. It's a pitty it had to go like this. R.I.P Pontins Blackpool Gone but never forgotten.
I will miss this place sooooooo much. I met the love of my life in Pontins Blackpool in August-September 2009 and we went back for the last weekend before they closed, thank you Pontins for such a wonderful time.
I had some amazing holidays here, growing up with my family , then as an adult with my daughter and little sisters. Probably had at least 6/7 holidays here. We weren't very well off growing up so going to Pontins was everything!! I used to love meal times in the restaurant, my nan made us dress up and then we would go straight to the bar/club. Singing "Goodnight children" at the end of the children's hour. I have some great photos still. I was heartbroken when it closed. It felt like a part of my history was gone too. I have mixed emotions watching this. Bittersweet. 💖
I was with the last holiday coach that visited Pontins just before it closed, on the 7th i left. It looked quite run down and it could have been improved but the staff were extra polite and accommodating, the food and entertainment was brilliant plus my room was quite nice. Dearly missed would be the words i use now to describe Blackpool Pontins, i truly mean that.
I was a Blue coat at Blackpool for 3 seasons..my best memories are at Pontins ..broke my heart when I heard it was closing ..I learned my craft of entertaining there , lost my virginity there ...never had so many women in all my life !! lol , worked with many now famous people who worked for Pontins. A peice of my life smashed to bits just because of greedy land developers.
Hi do you remember any bluecoat called Amy she had blonde hair , she was a blue coat at prestytn but this video is at Blackpool she must of been at Blackpool too . Could you please let me know
Loved this place. Went twice, once in the 1940s and next in the nineteen fifties. Still have a picture of my sister and me by one of the fountains, near the outdoor swimming pool.
I spent my cdhood at pontins blackpool sumner and xmas both my perants have passed away and we all enjoyed our holidays as a family now i feel that my childhood memory has gone i always wanted to take my grandkids there but its never going to hapoen god bless you all xxx
I went to Pontin's Blackpool one summer with my Dad. Holiday camps were never really my sort of thing but he didn't have much money. We're estranged now (long, unpleasant story) but it was a fun week - I have a lot of nice memories. I remember the pub (Queen Vic, no?) and a really nice barmaid who looked like Scary Spice 🤭😂 I visited the site again about ten years later - after it had closed down - and it was very strange seeing it all again and sealed off. From the sand dunes opposite you could see most of the resort had been pulled down and nothing more remained than a couple of crumbling chalets and the dilapidated dining hall. Bitter sweet memories ...
Us 80s children have now had our souls ripped out lol. Bring back my crazy golf, my giant games arcade, my cinema where I first saw Ghostbusters and all the pubs that my alcoholic dad went into. I wonder how big the area really was because as a child it felt like 1 mile square. I use to sneak out at night and walk around the quiet streets with my flipflops and visit familiar areas.
Spent many summer holidays there as a kid right from an early age (probably 3 or 4) riding on the noddy train to later on going to the crocodile club and playing on the boating lake. Sad to see something from your childhood demolished like that. We visited Blackpool at the weekend and drove past the housing estate that is now there. Shame they haven't named some of the roads to reflect the site's history. They could have thrown a Bluecoat Avenue, Crocodile Close or Princess Road into the mix.
What happened pontins was such a great place now 3 major parks shut and the rest ruined the company running it now haven’t got a clue letting get into such a state
Thank you for sharing that, I was suprised to see that it was shut down. One of the places I had hope to visit when I travel from down under. Will have to go visit one of the other camps now. Good luck for all the staff in their new jobs where ever they may be. KTF
we were meant to be there the week after it closed, twice a yr we went for the last 4yrs, I'll even miss the uncomfortable beds, and the showers where you got 20 seconds of water then had to press the button again. and of course the bluecoats who were great, we'll miss them.
we had used pontins. so many have closed ?????. little canada. hemsby, middleston towers, prestatyn, pakefield, southport, and others. i remember when you could get pontins pounds....9 o clock captain crock good night for the kids, then chalet patrols with a flashing light on back of stage to tell the mums and dads if kids were crying we had booked in to blackpool for the fisrt week in sept 2009 and two weeks before we were due to go they sent us our money back and told us it was closing.
I loved this place went every year in summer holidays and i can remember when one year we all get free well the kids lol as we were their alot i even remember the train picking us up and when it was just croc :) i loved it their shame it closed I still go to blackpool but we go to heaven now one year we had 4 generation of the family go :) and when the vic was called the orange room and painted green haha that year their there was 27 of us 9 adults and the rest were kids so we sort of took over croc club that year haha good times x
Went there in May 2009 didn't realise it was about to close for good.By then it really had seen better days. Squalid is the word that best some it up.Everything was closed hardly any staff about and the ones you could find were not helpful at all.Horrible place. Probably nice back in the day.Had fond memories of Pontins Brean Sands in Somerset in the 80's as a kid. That's why I went with my family in 2009 to Blackpool. Very Disappointed, My wife gave me so much shit over that holiday Lol.Only stayed 1 night we had booked for 3 days.

I've never been to a pontins camp and I don't want to now however it looked good and everyone was so happy... THEN, the new owners took over, they should be ashamed of themselves:( brings a tear to my eye to think that this is just a pile of rubbish now
I just don't understand it, why close the Blackpool one and invest money in the others? they should do the place up and go back to having day passes too........
By the time I went in May 2009 it was in a terrible state.Need £1000's of pounds investment just to bring it up to scratch. Not surprised they Buldozed it
Betcha Haven at Marton Mere are rubbing their hands though. Long live the British Budget Holiday. I wish the rest of you wonderful long waits on airport benches .......
pontins really couldn`t care less about their customer`s the least they could have done was honour the bookings they had aready taken before they decided to close blackpool down now that it`s gone there is nowhere for families to stay except hotels that don`t really want or can`t cater for children surely blackpool council were aware of this when they did nothing to avoid pontins closing shame on everybody concerned, all the money you make i hope it does you no good best wishes to all the staff

This closed only a few years after I was born, wish it had stayed open longer for me to go!

Think we have learned not to take advantage of anything. No matter how much we hate or love it because one day, you will regret it.

ROLLER COASTER KID it was a fantastic experience my daughter loved it but now it’s a shambles to put it politely
Make a video without that song, Pontins was ace. No carnival rides but was still somehow amazing.
The Plane jetting off 02:56 to Spain or Turkey or any-fucking-where but the UK speaks volumes as to why Pontins, Butlins are all in deep shit.
I just don't understand it, why close the Blackpool one and invest money in the others? they should do the place up and go back to having day passes too........

The site has been sold. There's a residential development called "Coastal Dunes" currently being built on it
why did it shut down
because the park did not have enough money to keep running so they were forced to shut down sadly
By the time I went in May 2009 it was in a terrible state.Need £1000's of pounds investment just to bring it up to scratch. Not surprised they Buldozed it
