Few thoughts on the supposed high performance of the emulator: from what I have known there are two distinct types of emulator, the first seek to emulate every machine instructions to be as close to the original hardware and circuits as possible, and the second only cares about whether or not the game runs on the emulator or not. Because preservation and fidelity is not the concern, the second type do not actually have to emulate correctly the original hardware rather relying on workarounds and hacks to circumvent the original programming, this means you can have considerably less overhead and in some cases even take advantage of the new architecture in ways that are impossible in the original hardware. The drawback is emulators of the second type tends to only be able to emulate one or two games correctly, which is not a problem for the bleem emulator given that every bleem disc is only supposed to emulate the game they are paired with.

12:01 - C++ is not a high level programming language, it is a mid level programming language with features from both high and low level programming languages. This is why it is so commonly used for porting, emulation and optimization.
@Bare _ Gamer That is not the standard form of classifying languages though, and speaking by pure "greater than, less than" comparative terms serves to only generalize and not get anyone anywhere, the exact opposite of the goal of classification. C++ is a mid-level or intermediate programming language. It has features that do not fall under the standard qualifications of high level languages and are not present in any other high-level language.
@Bare _ Gamer I can understand that, but it does matter to me because it is a common mistake and one of the reasons people generally misunderstand C++ and write it off as a bad language when it is not. I feel that a more accurate representation of the language goes a long way towards encouraging people to use it and approach it with the right mindset. If it doesn't matter to you, then why waste your time and comment?[this is rhetorical].

I hope things can keep going so well, I’ve been absolutely loving these videos. Every one of them takes such an obscure topic and makes it absolutely fascinating.
I mean, to be fair a good optimizing compiler (on modern hardware) will almost always write faster assembly than a human can. Just out of curiosity, how come the two vids back to back then the third one months later? The Sony PS1 used a 32-bit RISC processor with the MIPS 1 instruction set running at ~34MHz [1] and the Dreamcast a 32-bit RISC processor with a different instruction set @200MHz[2]. While the ISAs are differnt both are RISC CPUs and that is probably the reason why it ran so good (not much to emulate/translate when the base system uses very similar instructions). PCs use the x86 architecture and thus are CISCs[3] not RISCs -> far more to emulate/translate. For a channel called "Tech Rules" your tech knowledge/skills are sorely lacking IMHO.... "emulating a game is harder than simply playing a game programmed to run on a console" wii u: huh? what? i can't hear you *runs wii games in an emulator *
vWii isn't an emulator. It's more akin to a hypervisor, only emulating the (much weaker) Starlet ARM9 security/IO processor and Hollywood GPU. The CPU is passed through although without multiprocesssing and other advances. The Wii U's Espresso CPU is purposely a 32-bit PowerPC core to make vWii's job much easier.

6:30 "Manufactured in the good ol' USA by bleem, inc. Slippery when wet." holy shit this company is a mood
When you get 100k subscribers with 3 videos you know you're a god
With 2 actually. He hit 100k a month ago before this video but since then gained only 3k subs.
@@Diwasho holy shit
Swagbucks is a literal scam. I used the link in the description and got no extra money and the gift cards would require months to get. I like your channel, but please don't allow scams to sponsor you.
Your videos are really well structured! Really enjoying them so far. Bleem/Bleemcast is a really interesting point in gaming and emulation history, so it's nice to see more people talking about it.
Congrats on 100k subs, though its crazy how fast you got there with only 2 vids. I dont think many can say they did that.
@Icylapras24 oh yeah, I forgot someone did it with no vids.
I’ve only (willingly) rung the bell for two people... this guy’s one of them.
I was pleasently surprised when I saw this in my new videos to watch in my sub list
Real interesting stuff, I really dig this style. Grats on 100k subs!
saw two videos and think 'hey this dude is making really good content, lets see what else he have' and then just 3 videos uploaded... well man, keep it up with this excelent content you've earn a follower
6:41 nice reference to vinny.
This channel is an unprecedented success story, I’ve been around RUclips since 2005 and I’ve never seen a channel grow this fast in only 3 videos. Three extremely high-quality videos of course, but even with such high-quality, success this fast is miles outside the norm.
I hope things can keep going so well, I’ve been absolutely loving these videos. Every one of them takes such an obscure topic and makes it absolutely fascinating.
Tech Rules: *exists*
RUclips Algorithm: I'm gonna start this man's whole career.
You should make more videos. You clearly have a good grasp on this kind of thing and your presentation is flawless. Great job.
A tech rules video without 1 mil views?
*U N N A C E P T A B L E*
Real happy to see you made another video. Really great stuff & I look forward to seeing the next one.
almost perfect video save for the part where your playing Law
It’s always great to see another video from this channel
3 vids and 100K subs!?! That's pretty good. AND A SPONSOR!
You deserve major props. Considering how young this channel is, you're doing really well. Keep it up!
Found this through the algorithm. I’ve surprisingly watched your other 2 vids in the past. Subbed now!
I remember buying the bleemcast for mgs at gamestop when I was a kid love it and got one now
I mean, to be fair a good optimizing compiler (on modern hardware) will almost always write faster assembly than a human can.
I'm not saying you shouldn't read the x86_64 instruction set (especially useful if you have insomnia), but parallel programming will probably have a more prolific effect sooner.
The quality of your videos is super awesome. THIS is what quality content looks and feels like. Very interesting topic aswell! Good job
Bleem stood for “best little emulator ever made”
That was fanmade, the real one is unknown
just binged your whole channel
3 videos and 100K subscribers that fast? It's unbelievable, but it's amazing.
I've been starving for another video like this for the past week and a half and I am so glad that I don't have to starve any longer!
I dont onow how I founf your first video right when it came out but I am very glad I did, thank you :)
Again, an excellent video! Love the editing and everything!
Just out of curiosity, how come the two vids back to back then the third one months later? Can we expect sporadic random uploads at the same rate, or did stuff get in the way and now your schedule is cleared up again. Not trying to rush or be demanding, just want to know what to expect.
Love your videos! 👍
Love your videos! I would’ve assumed this type of editing would’ve taken years practice but you got the hang of it pretty quickly.
I saw this before the notification came up on my laptop, so Im faster than RUclips
i’m gonna be super addicted to this guys videos
Some think bleem stands for
Best
Little
Emulator
Ever
Made
Big
Leet
Elite
Emulator
Man
This is a legitimate *_quality content_* right here. Forget daily uploads, this is much better.
Wtf good vid high quality but damn 3rd video and a sponsor
What's the problem? That are 2 minutes at the beginning and 10 seconds at the end.
good job on this video! I love how you focus on really niche subjects that I otherwise would've never known about! really great learning opportunity for anyone watching your videos
100k.... Wow I subbed at 300 good luck and keep going with your amazing content
Dude, I love your videos! They're just so interesting and entertaining to watch. It's amazing how you make all those technical topics so easy to follow, even for a noob like me, haha. I'm really looking forward to what's coming next!
Nice vid man, keep up the good work. Also, didn't Sega make any legal actions against Bleep team?
Wielkimati Nope. Sega officially had nothing to say on the matter, and unofficially thought it was a hilarious snub at Sony. Plenty of people from Sega showed up at the bleem! E3 booth in 2000, they were mostly just impressed.
Finally a channel where I'll be able to say "I was here when he was still small" later, when he'll inevitably reach millions of subscribers. I've been here since vid 1, and I don't intend on leaving before I can brag about that!
Could you make a Video about the early days of hacking the wii? That would be really nice. I like your videos
Great idea mate!
Nice to see another video from you, and also nice to see a bit more insight into Bleem!
Let's hope the algorithm favours you again, my guy. Good content 👌🙌
YAY! YOU DESERVE 100K SUBSCRIBERS!!
And I still can't believe this is your third video also.

You hit the nail on the head. The description for bleem's inner workings is shoddy and it seems like he simply read the wikipedia article (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleem!) for us.
Check his community post on his channel
Woah, a sponsor on the 3rd video? This channel is crazy!
This guy made 3 videos and dipped
That's where you're wrong kiddo he is very much alive, he just dropped his FOURTH one good sir!
I love seeing a new channel grow so fast.
"emulating a game is harder than simply playing a game programmed to run on a console"
wii u: huh? what? i can't hear you *runs wii games in an emulator *
vWii isn't an emulator.
Just realised i have watched all 3 of your videos without realising there from the same channel. Then i go check what else youv'e done and... yeah.
Amazing videos btw. Keep it up.
Pfft subbed af, 3 videos an 100k subs lmao niceee
Imagine being so good you get a sponsor on your 3rd video
