At just over the 3:00 mark, we stop understanding what they're saying, but still laughing because this is how friends talk when they're making each other laugh.
This isn't an interview, it's a true lesson in how comedy works. This is the most amazing thing to watch in real time, because you are actually witnessing the creative process of comedy as it happens. Seth and Amy completely forgot they were on camera and just exchanged hilarious ideas and concepts, building on each other's thoughts in pure improv form. If they would film the Monday meetings for SNL and just air that, it would look like this, and it would be fascinating. I'm so glad we got to see this.
i feel like thats basically what happens any time they are together. or really when any of the old SNL gang from the early 00s gets together. hader/seth, tina/seth, amy/seth, fred/seth, even amy/jimmy or tina/jimmy.
This is literally just us watching a clip of two friends sitting around talking. Then seeing a joke, taking it and running away with it so far, they start crying with laughing. This is one of the greatest clips ever.
This is the kind of conversation you have with people you're comfortable with. But I bet if the same conversation happened with Jimmy Fallon instead, all the Colbert fanboys would be here accusing Jimmy of interrupting her...
God they’re both so INTELLIGENT that they can barely keep up with other’s rapidly changing thoughts. Wow put Tina Fey in and Seth would be giggling all night. It’s like the BEST party you could ever go to and just watch them!
This was hilarious to watch, mostly because they sounded just exactly the way my friends and I do when we're hanging out, having a beer, talking a load of crap, and end up cracking up.
God it's good to see both of these talented comedians get to be talented comedians. It's easy to forget that Poehler is a BEAST at improv, and Meyers has proved improv chops by getting a late-night gig.
The truth is DDL has been retired for 20 years. The few movies he's made since then are only because he didn't really want to do them but couldn't say no to heavyweights like Spielberg, Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson. But now that he's publicly announced his retirement, it's a lot easier to say no when Hollywood comes a courtin'. Smart move.
This was the most enjoyable “interview” I’ve ever watched. 2 friends just laughing at non sense and forgetting cameras are even rolling. I was laughing the entire 3 minutes.
It's been three years since I commented on this video, and I'd like to congratulate the handful of you who contacted me directly, and I can finally say YES. You were correct. I am Daniel Day Lewis. Well done.
I love when Seth or Jimmy Fallon interview Amy Poehler, because they're both actually friends with her and it's so pure and hilarious and their is no fake laughing.
This is Daniel Day-Lewis level talent but comedic! The thing is, like all great comedy, it hits on truth bc DDL *is* prone to depression & has written about it - the same pain that has given him his incredible drive, focus & curiosity about human nature have also made acting an uncomfortable experience for him. People say, how could he quit when he’s so good? But I think he quit for the same reason that he’s so good.

YES!!! LOL LOL LOL

I love them together so much!

Amy was in literal tears. That's the kind of laugh everyone deserves.
Oh god, I'm gonna be sure to watch this whenever I'm sad.
socrappyicoulddie I’m doing it right now. I wanna live in this clip and never go back. 5th time in a row.
This is me and my best friends talk to each other, I LOVE watching them.
This isn't an interview, this is too good friends having a silly time, and its FANTASTIC
This was hilarious to watch, mostly because they sounded just exactly the way my friends and I do when we're hanging out, having a beer, talking a load of crap, and end up cracking up.
Amy you make me so happy! please come back to TV!
U guys have like, really good rapport... U should think about doing a show together.
They have been super close friends for almost 20 years haha, they both started at SNL in 2001, so good eye! I could watch them chat all day
Yeah, maybe a live show on Saturday nights? Hmm....what to call it....
+Lynn Turman ...A "live show on Saturday nights" with comedy?
HA! That'll NEVER take off...
She and Nick Offerman are doing a show together! #workplaceproximityassociates
That adorable little "forget it , forget it ! " at 1:49 😆😂❤
You're adorable coco and moses.
It's like 2 people who forgot the audience was there and just kept joking with each other... priceless. I haven't done that since High School.
I really miss those days.
I was feeling a bit depressed today, until I watched this. I need an Amy Poehler in my life to just make me feel happy all day everyday.
I could watch these two talk all day
God it's good to see both of these talented comedians get to be talented comedians. It's easy to forget that Poehler is a BEAST at improv, and Meyers has proved improv chops by getting a late-night gig.

I cried - They need a show together
These two are so good together. Amy is consistently his best guest. The one they did in quarantine was especially good.
Omg amy makes me so happy what an angel
its been 3 years and i still come back to this constantly
"I'm finished...
.....with chips. "
#pleasegetthisreference
Karthik Nair I thought I wouldn’t get the reference, but then I saw the first reply and star wars 8 is a good movie
Who would dislike this and why?
Daniel Day-Lewis' 36 Oscars.
This video makes me want to hug my laptop. They are adorable!!
Love how much they obviously live & respect each other
they're just talking like there were not cameras rolling... what a joy watch them together!
I'm dying at the chips part
i tooo am crying from laughing so hard. they're the best!
Amy Poehler/Seth Meyers and Tina Fey/Jimmy Fallon. Whenever they're together you can almost literally see their connection.
What is impressive in this video is that you actually see their creative process as the write a SNL skit right in front of our eyes.
Haha They're brilliant together
The improvisation skills of these two are ridiculously amazing! Hilarious!
this interview went so many directions I am in love
They're so easy and relaxed together. So good!
I love these two so much!😂❤
This was the most enjoyable “interview” I’ve ever watched. 2 friends just laughing at non sense and forgetting cameras are even rolling. I was laughing the entire 3 minutes.
Amy Poehler gained a whole new level of respect from me or as the kids would say "she got jokes"
👍😎👍
im acrually crying at this interview its too funny
It's been three years since I commented on this video, and I'd like to congratulate the handful of you who contacted me directly, and I can finally say YES. You were correct. I am Daniel Day Lewis. Well done.
Dude this is the best sidebar I've ever seen.
They make each other laugh so hard it's awesome
I love that you two are just breaking each other's character like it's a competition 😂😂
and live from new york!
I'm obsessed with these two!
She is the funniest woman alive.
Omg. ..hilarious! I now want chips
I think this just may be the purest moment of late night television in existence...
Also definitely had to look up that Occam's razor thing, haha.
Julian C You obviously never watched Craig Ferguson when he was still on.
Craig is sorely missed.
1:45 Seth tossing out the word “duffed” is hilarious and yet it’s only like the 20th funniest thing in this clip
I came back to this clip so many times!. It's brilliant!
that im done/wiping off chips joke is hilarious
Gawd, the chemistry between these two is immeasurable sometimes.
I love when Seth or Jimmy Fallon interview Amy Poehler, because they're both actually friends with her and it's so pure and hilarious and their is no fake laughing.
OMG. They're so funny together! They're friends and they just laugh with each other, it's great!
Two friends having a laugh! Made me giggle too! SS
I’m so in love with Amy Poehler
I loved this...
I love them so much. How they can't stop laughing
She's got such a random sense of humor! We'd get along perfectly.
I would pay a fortune to see a dinner party with Seth, Ferrell, Andy, Hader, Wiig, Poehler, Fey and Fallon
To good
I really want to know if Daniel has seen this!!
I just want to watch a half hour of them at brunch having these types of conversations.
some contagious laughter, that is.
This is how sketches come together. I can just see a snl sketch about this whole chips situation
These two are so good together
How do you spot real friends with a great rapport? This.
This would have made a perfect skit at SNL lmao
i watch this about once a week
Top five best interviews ever
She deserves AT LEAST ONE Emmy for Parks and Recreation. Like it's so frustrating.
This seriously always elevates my mood so much
I love how Seth Meyers is just as entertained by her as we are..haha
I love this woman so much.
"I know you're in bed right now get your salt on, probably eating some chips"
I wish I could be friends with Amy.
This is the definition of infectious laughter.
LOL I actually laughed out loud and that's so rare these days
I love them together!
I feel like we just got a behind the scenes look at how an SNL sketch is born
Noooooooo! wtf? I was waiting for him to come back for five years :( i'm so sad
He has a film out this Christmas. It's called Phantom Thread.
NYCzora and we still haven’t got neither a trailer, nor a teaser. Not even a summary.
I'm crying this was so good
Amy Poehler is sooooo hilarious!
Amy -> Joaquin -> Paul -> Daniel
There's your Kevin Bacon connection
They are so awesome together! Part of me always wanted them to end up together :3
she's an amazing human
This is Daniel Day-Lewis level talent but comedic! The thing is, like all great comedy, it hits on truth bc DDL *is* prone to depression & has written about it - the same pain that has given him his incredible drive, focus & curiosity about human nature have also made acting an uncomfortable experience for him. They may be taking about Daniel Day Lewis, but I am getting called out as a person.
Please make another movie I can’t wait two more years without your performances
It feels like being a fly on the wall during a weekend update writing session.
OMG! I laughed so hard, I cried hahahahahahahaha
That was brilliant to watch!!! Two peas in a pod.
This is literally the hardest I’ve laughed in years
Done with chips... I love them both so much!!!
This made me laugh so much!
I love watching these two dorks goof around 🤣
Omg, this was adorable. Amy, you've always been my best friend in my mind, but you're even cooler than I imagined, lol.
What a hilarious duo. Comedy jazz workshop. Amy is adorable. Seth is a comedy catalyst.
