    At the GT Line level, it is expensive for the size car it is and what you do and don’t get. I test drove an Air. Hated the stupid passenger seat design, no storage, phone on display in the heat, no wireless charging except on GT line, you can’t see the climate screen behind the steering wheel, the stupid touch shortcut buttons on top of the dash that you bump when using the infotainment touch screen. I don’t believe you can’t opt to leave the heated/cooled drawer turned on in the GT line so what’s the point of it? I like the look of it and it felt good to drive.

    I believe Tesla doesn't report AC/accessories in their kWh/100km figure. That can easily add up to 2-3kW which makes the figures more on par. Tesla is undoubtedly very efficient, but not as much as the initial numbers might suggest.

    • @GDM22
      @GDM22 Месяц назад

      It will report those things when driving which is what matters, you would typically only use sentry mode or automatic cabin cooling in day to day use, not on a road trip. The use of these is also optional and aside from them there will be minmal battery use when parked.

    • @hargeaux
      @hargeaux Месяц назад

    Problem I have is the price. You can currently lease a Tesla here for £350 a month for their LR or AWD models and about £4500 down. I can't see Kia matching that and since most people dont want to buy the EVs due to the insane depreciation, I don't think that the EV5 will be much competition vs the Model Y, especially if the Juniper gives the same quality of improvements that the Model 3 Highland did over the OG Model 3.

    With all these EVs really hitting the market, my most curious question is "Do they call home for updates?". Do we, as consumers, have control over software updates and changes made to these vehicles or is it done without consent. It's a major shift that not many people talk about and is somewhat scary hearing Tesla stories of people not able to access their cars due to a bugged remote software update they didnt ask for. Not sure how often that has happened, the fact it's able to happen at all is a bit crazy imho.

    It would be good if you could comment on the drivers ergonomics a bit more. I find this a real issue. Many cars have a wide centre console with a wide drive tunnel. Often my left knee presses against the edge of the centre console and the left leg position is uncomfortable. Land Rover discovery is particularly bad in this way and also has a wide drive tunnel that means the floor is not flat and slopes down from the centre of the car to the right and the left foot has no room to rest. The right leg has plenty of room and sits in a natural position. This car from what I see looks like there is plenty of room for the driver and your left knee is clear of the centre console.

      Ehh, this is getting tiring. "Should not get past 80%" is just not true, and both types will age prematurely from sitting at high SOC for extended periods.
      LFP will _calibrate_ the BMS when charging to 100%. You do not NEED to do it, it is not "GOOD" for the battery health keeping it at 100%.

      True but the emphasis is on whether you are charging to 100% or leaving the SOC at 100% for some time. The higher the SOC the higher the voltage and the more damage to the battery cells. NMC & NMA have higher voltage than LFP.
      Charging to 100% all the time with LFP is not wise

      @@TerryHickey-xt4mfI mostly work from home, but often have to do long car trips (500km+) for work. Can't charge when I get there as my vehicle needs to be at the venue where I'm working (farm, rural hall, etc)

      I work in the country. Often travel more than 330km in a day. Travel to farms and small rural villages with no/little charging infrastructure. Main point is it has a large battery and poor range. The Megane e tech I'm looking to buy is much lighter and cheaper, has a smaller battery and better range (389km EPA). They need to do better. @@TerryHickey-xt4mf

      That range is appalling, it’s even less than the base spec model y.

    7 year warranty helps, but still going ICE/Hybrid for now.

    It does appear to be underwhelming regarding power for a vehicle of this size. It looks okay though and is seemingly good value at the lower spec range with a turbo engine.

    This is a great car, but they’re screwing us. The entry level is 30k aud in china, it’s 56k here. Even with 10k for stamp duties, deliveries, rego etc, it should still be nearly 20k cheaper. If it was priced about $40 k they would have cleaned up

      Maybe, ... I would like to know that too. But if you go through the car's menu and turn it off there, would the insurance issue still be a problem when/if they investigated the cars software settings prior to an accident.

    Even though they look stupid, fly nets are really the only things that work, the chemical based repellents sometimes work for a while, but they are very soon back on you. Don't you love the Australian wildlife that comes to you, they're very tame !!!
