Good work. I’ve been around the proton pack building community for over 10 years, I’ve always stated the best reference material are the movies themselves. It’s like people forget or don’t care to take the time and effort. 4K has made everything even more apparent than before.

EXCEPTIONAL work, sir. Wish I had this (and the video of the GB1 packs you did) a year ago when I started my build first build. This should be archived in some fashion on GBFANS. Keep up the EXCELLENT work. *chef's kiss*

Thanks for the kind words and the sub! I wish I had dug into it more before I started my build years ago too.

I really dig these videos. I don't think anyone goes this in depth on the packs used for the films other than Alex Newborn. Great work dude.

I can't believe the lack of continuity on such a high-profile movie.

Crazy, huh? I think the actors just didn’t really care enough to be that consistent.

@@TheProtonPackIsNotAToy It's no secret Bill really hated wearing them.

@@TheProtonPackIsNotAToy It certainly wouldn't have been the actors handing them the pack between shots. It's the script supervisor or a prop assistant that should have been watching this. Mostly likely they are constantly swapping packs or substituting if there's something wrong or broken with one. Actors caring has nothing to do with it.

Ok after doing some more things to my pack like the video I have a question you might know. I have a gb fans built pack with their sound board. The dipswitches on the pack were all set to down. The wand switches have 1 and 5 up. I'm wanting movie sounds not the other stuff so I put pack switches 3 and 5 up and 6 up for the hum. Right now I get the firing effect, but if I let go of the button it just stops. What are the wand switches supposed to be set to for movie mode? Is it 2, 3 and 5 on? Rest off? I'm confused there.

This video is a trick question because we all know Bill Murray's proton pack was Halo the whole time he hated that thing all joking aside I do have a proton pack for conventions and those last couple of hours Comic-Con suck I wore it with pride but I'm pretty sure my spinal column got two inches shorter that day

where did you get the picture for the number 4 pack on the inside of it?

This may be very redundant considering the overlap in proton pack cross-referencing but is there an episode focusing squarely on Winston’s packs?

Were the bumpers on the gb2 packs ever resin or were they still metal from gb1? They look silver in gb2 or were they bronze?

    • @TheProtonPackIsNotAToy

The bumpers were all resin on all packs. They were never metal.

@thedude2897 Ah, those are all metal. The one Mack’s Factory offers is what you want. GBfans too.

@TheProtonPackIsNotAToy Thanks. I had a pack done by Docs Prop Shop awhile back and he did a pretty good job especially with the weathering. He did use resin knobs on the wand, the bellow and the clippard valves. I am replacing the pieces with metal knobs and real valves. I just need to figure out how to weather things a tad.

They're very inconsistent. They should have always wear their respective packs.
