Love your vids. My wife overheard me the other day watching you and she now calls you the fugly shrimp guy and watches with me. She loved how you called them fugly and laughed. The only videos she will watch with me about shrimp are yours haha
You made me LOL twice!! MST has replaced my fav Sat am Video! Thanks for the laughs, & your thouroughness. I have the same Giant tweezers LOL that I use to cull snails. I lost a dwarf Cray last night. Very sad. But...Green is your color dude.
Your videos are always the first ones I watch! They have been so helpful since I’ve only been keeping shrimp since June of last year. I found myself shaking my head yes when you were talking about washing your hands. I remember that from one of your videos a while back when I first started and I always wash my hands before I stick them into the tank.
My dogs always think I hate them when they get flea meds, making them sad when I won't let them climb on me lol. I've heard so many horror stories about insecticides and shrimp. At my job, I handle large amounts of herbicide concentrate, mix, and spray 100s of gallons of herbicide mix every day at work. So being aware of what possible contaminates I may be bringing into my tanks is always a huge concern, of course, I am a professional pesticide handler and have received hours of training on how to avoid unwanted contamination, its always on my mind. Local guy just around the corner was really getting a shrimp farm going, bought loads of my shrimp, with him having identical water to me, his shrimp colonies were booming instantly. Come home and his wife had let off bug bombs, not a single shrimp lived in his entire house. I have been an air freshener and cologne/perfume, candle police for years lol, my family loves it lol Another great vid, love the caridina vids, since I have very little knowledge on what actually makes good caridinas. Appreciate it 👍
Have you ever done a complete take over hall on the bigger tanks if you haven't I would like to see it done to that tank it would look nice and something new done to it before you had so many in the bigger ranks and how lately I havnt seen many please if you do a overhaul do it on the bigger tanks
With Neos I’m not sure what the ideal or minimum size is to cull at? I’ve had some nearly clear babies later colour up nicely. What’s you’re rule of thumb on this, and does it vary by colour of shrimp?
Here comes a big question... ive been watching my Gh climb high, while the Kh stay pretty low, too low for my liking... i have been adding "shirakura" mineral supli powder, and i have root tabs... tds 195... what do you think is goin on?
@@2869may thanks, i ended up just getting a larger tank. I have a dozen babies so they are gonna need the room anyway. The water has been cycling some original substrate and i have the Kh balanced properly. Just waiting on the transfer when things are perfect.
@@CreepX That's great..! Don't rush it..! when you transfer drip acclimate VERY slowly...! (several hours) I switched tanks with my yellows that were breeding good, I used about 60% of their tank water and 40% new water... They stopped breeding for months....! Stable water conditions are absolutely key.! (you may already know this..)

If you did no culling would you potentially see the shrimp revert back to one solid color ? Or would the patterns just continue to become less of what your wanting if that makes sense.
Heard that ammonia will gas off in a 6 or lower ph tank. You hear anything about that That jacket will be great when you stream again and you will just be a floating "GIANT HEAD" lol. Great video again.
Surely they're ok going from a higher to a lower tds? Pretty sure I've watched a video of yours where you forgot to remineralise some RO water and they were all fine?

Hi Mark, just bag up your culled Crystal tigers here in the Philippines, they should have a nice tank for them that I can prepare...
Great idea

I let them grow to near adult size and remove the ones you dont want:)
Nice video again, always a little hesitant when culling (probably because i created a sorority at some time in my neo's tank)
Wood love some advice on keeping shrimp
Just ask away Vi I tend to read my comments a few times a day so I should catch your questions :)
AMAZING as per usual!
Thanks for watching Kate :)

your adding minerals which probably raise the gh?
@@MarksShrimpTanks yea, which is the plan, but the kh is practically 0... i dont know what more to add to raise kh only...
@@CreepX If you google it there's lots of options, But figuring out which one will be the most consistent and stable for your situation is the key.

it would just get messy, I have not culled that tank for more than a year and it shows.
Hey Mark. Do you have e copepods in our tank? How do I get rid of them. Are they safe for shrimp? Should I add like a neon tetra to clean them up,
I dont remove anything like that in my tanks, I like seeing life because it means baby shrimp can survive.
@@MarksShrimpTanks I hear some copepods can pray on baby shrimp is that true
possibly I don't know enough about them to say its true of all species or not.
Hey Mark nice vid again! Do you drip acclimate your culls to your cull tank aswell?
Yes I do!
I throught so. I do aswell even though my water parameters are the same.
what kind of substrate do you use?
mix of akadama and ada amazonia 2
Nice video
Thanks
Mark, What substrat is it?
Both tanks are akadama and the top one has some fluval stratum in it.
Do you sell shrimp mark?
I dont anymore, its a lot of hassle selling shrimp. you end up watching the postal service orders all the time.
Heard that ammonia will gas off in a 6 or lower ph tank. You hear anything about that
That jacket will be great when you stream again and you will just be a floating "GIANT HEAD" lol.
Great video again.
Ammonia is not toxic in a low ph, I am still trying to find out if nitrites and nitrates are affected in the same way.
Haha... or if you clicked your fingers and there's a big Mark sized shrimp standing there. That would be remarkable. 🤣🤣
😂👍
Surely they're ok going from a higher to a lower tds? Pretty sure I've watched a video of yours where you forgot to remineralise some RO water and they were all fine?
No its the other way round.. going from a low tds to higher tds is fine. anyways I still drip regardless for all the time it takes.
@@MarksShrimpTanks aaaah cool ok thanks 😊
Hey Mark, why don't you sell your culls? they are still quality shrimp aren't they?
They are called culls but I still like having them in my main tank.
nice hair cut...
Thank you 😊
