I graduated spring of 2023, but during my last semester I did a deep dive into researching how artificial intelligence (and their retrospective tools) can be utilized to support an efficient creative workflow while still maintaining that important "human experience" to "human experience" relationship between an artist and an audience. I came to the conclusion that such implementation is possible but difficult. I would love to hear your thoughts regarding AI and its uses in the music industry specifically. Could be a really fun conversation or video to have!
part of this discussion will have to center around how we define the "human experience" element. there is a strong argument for "real" human experience being face to face with no medium, but that would call into question all recorded media. then, when it comes to AI as a tool, there is this feeling of it being "cheating" which it seems to me is often implied but maybe unspoken in artistic communities. what makes using a specific tool cheating? is it the perceived skill:output ratio of that tool? Why is an EQ tool not cheating? I dont know how the circuitry works inside it, the device does the EQ for me, i just have to learn its abstracted interface and adjust sliders and knobs. Further, its reasonable to say any tool, AI included, is an extension of the human body and brain. It was created by the human brain, and is therefore not a mysterious external power disconnected from human experience, in that sense. It IS human experience, the natural progression of human experience, but it makes us uncomfortable because we say, well what about ME, the artist! Well, maybe ME wasnt so important after all, its music thats important, music itself is the shared human experience and the artist is the tool, and tools are interchangeable. AI is BAD. Even if many people don't get it now but they will eventually, unless the whole world gets to corrupted by AI to care about human imperfections. But if that happens you will know because everything natural will be in a much worse state than it is now. Noise is more important than most people realize. The clinical perfection of pop music or electronic music (including overuse of pitch correction) is comparable to what AI will do to every art form, but it will be many times worse.
this plugin is unbelievably brilliant and for the first time in my 45 years as a musician and vocalist I can now sing in a room with speakers on and remove the backing track and reverb and make my vocal sound like a studio recording .. utterly superb
Oh dear, i should have known about this before I purchased Waves Clarity Vx, which is pretty CPU intensive. This plugin would have been sufficient for my needs. Congrats on crossing 1M subs as well ❤
@@inthemix am afraid I have crossed the period. Thanks for your response Michael. Love your Reviver plugin. Best wishes for its user base to sky rocket. You deserve it.
Thank you for the heads-up. Just tried this plugin on some location footage. The wind noise was so intrusive, I was convinces we'd need to scrap it. The Goyo delivered usable audio in seconds.
When I converted to FL studio, you were my first, and for awhile the only, RUclips subscription I had, you have educated people on music and everything surrounding music, with un biased, most informative tone, I thank you for all you have done for the music community
Thanks for this. I’d also like to see it used in an environment where background noise could vary, versus constant.. such as a pan being dropped, a doorbell ring, kids yelling, etc. Anything that is not just a constant sound.
Also, remember you can automate the settings. I'm restoring this old, old four track cassette recording of an audio play. It have the settings adjust depending on areas that are more problematic, or when the volume gets too low and such.
Thank you very much for posting this! I've never tried automating anything before, I always just apply the reduction wholesale, but I was in a real scrape with the audio I was trying to clean up and it is a life-saver to be able to really crank the ambience down just on the really problematic parts. And I wouldn't have even know what automating was without Michael's mastering videos, so - thank you guys!
Great plugin. For constant noises (like static noises and things like that), I always use ReaFIR. The substract mode that creates the freq profile and removes it from your recording works perfect in those cases. This plugin will allow you to do that on a lot of other types of noises. Pretty cool
Thank you for presenting this as the first step in a de-noise chain involving other de-noising plugins. It has never occurred to me that it can help make the job of more surgical plugins easier. I almost uninstalled this because it sounded like a "fluctuating noise gate" BUT when I tried using it like how you used it (with a second plugin) it made the work of the other plugin EASIER whilst retaining details vs just using one de-noise VST exclusively. Thanks for bringing up the TERMS and CONDITIONS, I didn't know the data part. Because you mentioned that, I checked the exe file on virus total's website--- there are a couple of surprising results on the plugin's behavior.
Just incase you don't know. This does effect performance, so if you're on a low end laptop, just note that. My FL studio crashed cause of it (I did have other apps and plugins open though). Just thought I should let you know
I'm a post production professional and I have to say, this plugin is way more versatile and sounds better than ClarityVX and RX Dialogue Isolate. It's only 'free' for now because it's a beta. However, I will gladly hand over my cash when it gets a full release. Really impressive.
Honestly it’s great to hear feedback from other professional users. Personally I thought that the artefacts might be worse than some other plugins but it seems that it’s at least as good if not better than others!
@@inthemix Sounds like there’s less artifacts than what I typically get with ClarityVX but I think I’d be able to get a better result with the flexibility in RX
I've never watched your videos before but this was really awesome, especially mentioning the TOS at the end, we really need people to pay more attention to that sort of thing
This is the first time i've been amazed by a noise reduction plugin! it keeps the voice somewhat untouched ( obviously you lose some frequencies but doesn't sound as robotic as clarity does ). I'll defenitly give this a go on some asmr projects
To me this plugin is the most outstanding development in audio tools since ever. The only plugin you must buy to add to the stock plugins in your DAW. Bravo to the Supertone team !
I said to myself, that I don't really want to use plugins anymore that require an internet connection for installation or usage. This Plugin seems to work really good, but I will stick to my rule.
This plugin will save me literally hundreds of hours of work. I do post production mixes of live show recordings and trying to get cymbals out of a vocal track is basically impossible. I downloaded this and tried it out on the one I'm currently working on and it did what I've been trying to do manually to no success for the past two hours.
This is great! A couple questions: did you feel like the terms and conditions were something abnormal or beyond what most DAWs and plug-ins would do? I was just wondering why the special note on that in this instance. Also, I would love to hear what you think about Adobe Audition's native denoising capabilities, versus say Izotope RX, versus Audacity, versus this GOYO app, versus...whatever else! I'm currently working on an audio that had some electrical interference introduced into it at certain points (I think someone had a cellphone with blue tooth enabled next to a field recorder, and it introduced some junk into the recording...), and nothing seems to be working to get it out! Haven't tried the GOYO yet, wanted to ask you why the disclaimer about their data collection. I usually am able to use either Audition's native tools, RX, or Audacity to remove noise, depending on the situation. (They all work well for AC, and the room where we record classes is untreated with tile floors, so de-reverbing is helpful too. Audition is great for isolating specific frequencies and removing them, especially when it's outside the range of the person's voice. But this noise is periodic, not consistent, and just seems to defy noise removal! Suggestions appreciated!) Also, just so you know, you're my first go-to for anything audio related, and I deeply appreciate your videos, your insights, and your care! Thank you!
Thank you for the comment and questions. Firstly, I don’t think the terms and conditions are particularly unusual for an AI plugin. I mentioned it and will continue to do so moving forward because many people know there is a “catch” when it comes to free plugins or software. It’s really just me trying to be transparent and honest with people who are completely new to software downloads. Regarding the performance of the plugin, I think it is often significantly better than RX and other built in de noisers in DAWs and video editors. I’m a huge supporter of using the in built tools and not relying on 3rd party plugins but this one just blew me away. It has limitations and sometimes performs poorly on sources but for some periodic electrical noise I think it will work well. I also know the frustration you are dealing with. I upgraded to a mixpre recorder because there is so much radio/wifi/phone interference where I live. The mix pre with shielded cables seems to work really well but it does come at a cost. If GOYO solves your problem or fails to make it any better please let us know in a comment!
I filmed this but didn't include it in the video because (as much as I love Davinci resolve!) it did a terrible job on my voice by comparison and seemed like I was overly criticising them. In short, there is a night and day difference, especially in the dereverb. I really like what Black Magic are doing as a company so didn't want to seem overly harsh on their included tools.
Sadly I have seen this after spending £200 on Rockwool and covering it in fabric to acoustically treat my bedroom. Even so; great video, sensible, clear, ariculate, well explained. EXCELLENT demo by the river too. I also take video, and have many precious archive films with too much "ocean" in the background. I am also not very technical, so the ease of this is perfect for me. Realy good.Sadly my lack of tech means I use "Audacity", and the new paid-for GOYO is (I've read?) incompatable, as they (naturally) aim at the less impoverished audience. But if ever you come across n Audacity friendly version please post or otherwise let us know. Thanks again;; subscribed! Steve
This program works wonderfully. With a few simple tweaks of the knobs I was able to remove the horrible noise of my neighbor mowing the grass from one of my RUclips videos. Thank you SO much for mentioning this program !
Great sounding plug, and an actual alternative to Clarity VX (always good to have Waves alternatives). I very much doubt it will continue to be free beyond the beta version. The whole point of a machine learning beta (as you point out) is to teach the algorithm on a broad sample of real world data. My prediction is that the minute they go to version 1.0 it will be a paid product. I don't object to that, and if they are smart they will offer a highly discounted license to everyone who has been beta testing and providing the data to feed their algorithm.
Any alternative to Waves is always a good things! I think your perspective is probably correct although I really do hope they keep a free version. Offering a big discount to beta testers (audio contributors…) would be a good business move for them I think.

I wish the sound quality of most videos on RUclips was as good as your "noisy" audio. Not many creators understand how to properly record or master audio. This plugin seems amazing, I will have to check it out.
I really have a need for this plug-in, having recorded in a garage and noisy rooms where the audio was basically useless. I will test it out as soon as I get the download link, Thank you for the video, one of the most useful birthday gifts to date.
I've used for my case in a noisy enviroment when you turned the ambience all the way down. All human VO (in Cantonese) is unexpected natural as you might think. Sounds clean, natural. Great Job! Thanks for sharing,
This is super. I just a few days ago was thinking about some tool like that. Want to clean up one great sample but too buzzy. This might help. Thanks, Mike. Simple and clear as always
This is literally magic! After hearing the effect it had on room reverb I just paused your video, got the software and immediately tried it on two older videos were i simply lacked the tools at the time to do anything about it. It took care of the ambient noise way better than any other noise remover I’ve tried, and in realtime to boot! The better ones always adds a couple of milliseconds of delay, this one just acted like I was just lowering down the volume of separate tracks. I have an older video from Teams that were recorded during the pandemic. It is almost a literal worst case were no noisegate or filter really could do much and EQ were my real option to try make the sound good enough. The speaker used the wrong microphone in settings and had the built in microphone active while sitting a few meters from the computer. That with Teams noise gate and room reverb not only made the sound bad, but even difficult to listen to. Not even this tool could fix all that was wrong, but it took care of the room reverb surprisingly well and way better than any other tool. So this one is definitely a new go-to when treating all audio. This almost makes up completely from an untreated room. Thank you for highlighting this!!
I’m genuinely so happy it worked for you. I also used it to recover some (almost unusable) footage. It really brought a smile to my face getting results that I couldn’t achieve even with expensive and comprehensive tools!
Just got back from a trip where I got some once in a lifetime footage. But that also included some once in a lifetime background noise. Going to try Goyo. Thanks for the recommendation!
I spent 5 years in debt and turmoil investing time and money into breaking into the library and tv music world. A couple months ago I realised I had finally cracked it as I was able to buy my 2 kids some toys. So exciting! Finally I can provide for my family, my wife is so proud of me! Then came ai music
I'ts a good gate. You know someone was gonig to say it. I do see uses for plugins like this, to replicate a room e.g; unless we can record a session in an expensive studio, we need to replicate ambience digitally. to give the impression of a space. That this plugin is free, is such a gift. So much good stuff has been coming out recently open source, where people contribute, those unable to at the time, that probably will pay when they can, get to use it as well. It's generous that people share software in this way, and the trend should continue imo, because there is so little trust in the world right now, and when someone offers something like this, on trust, those that can will pay.

Oh dear, i should have known about this before I purchased Waves Clarity Vx, which is pretty CPU intensive. This plugin would have been sufficient for my needs. Congrats on crossing 1M subs as well ❤
Any chance you're still in the returns period?
Clarity is a breast though and can do much more than GOYO.
@@inthemix am afraid I have crossed the period. Thanks for your response Michael. Love your Reviver plugin. Best wishes for its user base to sky rocket. You deserve it.
@@inthemix Clarity VX Pro... Yeah.
GOYO beats the standard ClarityVX, hands down for me.
@@mdk1983 You'll be happier with Clarity in the long run.
Great discovery! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for the heads-up. Just tried this plugin on some location footage. The wind noise was so intrusive, I was convinces we'd need to scrap it. The Goyo delivered usable audio in seconds.
I'm so happy it worked for you. I would recommend exporting the processed audio and then removing the plugin to free up CPU :)
How do I install it for davinci?
When I converted to FL studio, you were my first, and for awhile the only, RUclips subscription I had, you have educated people on music and everything surrounding music, with un biased, most informative tone, I thank you for all you have done for the music community
Thanks for this. I’d also like to see it used in an environment where background noise could vary, versus constant.. such as a pan being dropped, a doorbell ring, kids yelling, etc. Anything that is not just a constant sound.
It's free. Download it and do it.
Tried it myself singing + fan + TV + guitar, using my phone in my living room and it worked so well.
Also, remember you can automate the settings. I'm restoring this old, old four track cassette recording of an audio play. It have the settings adjust depending on areas that are more problematic, or when the volume gets too low and such.
Thanks for the advice! I haven’t tried automating GOYO but it’s good to know that it doesn’t cause issues. Thanks!
Just played with this plugin a bit and its FANTASTIC... thanks so much for sharing.
As a musician and a video editor this is very useful to me! Thank you as always! This is the best audio production channel on youtube.
Coming across this video just saved an interview I did with a rock/punk band in a noisy environment. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Great plugin. For constant noises (like static noises and things like that), I always use ReaFIR. The substract mode that creates the freq profile and removes it from your recording works perfect in those cases. This plugin will allow you to do that on a lot of other types of noises. Pretty cool
As always very useful video!! and the video editing is amazing!
Could you explain the surprising results? I do not have the understanding to fully grasp, what you're talking about
Just incase you don't know. This does effect performance, so if you're on a low end laptop, just note that. My FL studio crashed cause of it (I did have other apps and plugins open though). Just thought I should let you know
Great recommendation. Watched the video an hour ago... downloaded the plugin and immediately solved an issue in my vocal. Awesome tyvm
Totally agree 👍🏽💯
@@inthemix Sounds like there’s less artifacts than what I typically get with ClarityVX but I think I’d be able to get a better result with the flexibility in RX
I've never watched your videos before but this was really awesome, especially mentioning the TOS at the end, we really need people to pay more attention to that sort of thing
Ten człowiek mnie zadziwia. Gada tyle słów, jak z mojej głowy, że chyba jeszcze tego nigdy nie spotkałem. Fantastyczna zgodność po prostu. 😳
Bertom denoiser is pretty good as well
I like how you added that last part about being a responsible user!!
I said to myself, that I don't really want to use plugins anymore that require an internet connection for installation or usage.
This Plugin seems to work really good, but I will stick to my rule.
However, the plugin does not require an Internet connection to install or use.
Suggestions appreciated!)
Also, just so you know, you're my first go-to for anything audio related, and I deeply appreciate your videos, your insights, and your care!
@inthemix thanks for the new plugin
This has the potential to be household brand in the future
This is madness, I was trying to save the audio from an old short film for years! And nothing worked. But this plugin is pure magic. Thanks!
Can you Try this against the tools in the Free version of DaVinci Resolve and see how they compare, contrast, maybe complement each other.
Steve
unfortunately, I was too slow to react. The plugin is not available for download anymore. I missed it by a day! I wont have the chance to try it... 😞
WOW!!!!! Impressive! I need to check this out!
Will it work on my girlfriend?
How do u have a girlfriend?
@lizigyik Easy... I'm a talented, smart, good looking dude. Having been a marine sniper helps too. Idk... lots of reasons really.
Turn up the ambience, Turn down her voice...100% it will work
Valid question
@@englewoodmusicI thought about enlisting long time ago but got into a fight with my cousin who was also my roommate and in the army 😂…safe to say…He didn’t wanna help me after that 😆
I just got it sooo sweet ! Thanks!
It's too bad they closed the beta. Can't download it any more.
brilliant demonstration by the way .. one of the problems with home studios is we don’t have a vocal booth so that un-natural tone is something we strive for as a starting point to get iconic vocal sounds .. best part is it’s non-destructive
Super tone there! From Goyo into now up for sale so now it's in the Clear.
This is incredible! Thank you. I was looking for something just like this. I hope it keeps getting updated and ai actually makes our lives completely different in these workflows. Content is about to start getting so much better in the world.
wow this is the future! Great video
APPRICIATE FOR SHARING THIS USEFUL VST🙌🙌
Thank you for highlighting this plugin! This really helped, I cannot thank you enough.
Wow! The results speak for themselves! Thanks for alerting me to this amazing plugin!
Just my annual reminder that you own absolutely one of the greatest channels on RUclips! Never stop working hard for us please!
Thank you so much, great content and stroll through interesting observations.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Noise is my greatest problem thank you
I love that you tried to find a busy road but had to settle for a lovely river instead 🤣 Great video!
I wish the sound quality of most videos on RUclips was as good as your "noisy" audio. Not many creators understand how to properly record or master audio. This plugin seems amazing, I will have to check it out.
I love your manner and delivery. Always helpful and insightful. 👍
Thanks!
Tres bien mon frere 🎉
More people should give advice about terms and conditions and AI! Good video:)
GREAT TOOL AND THANK YOU FOR UR EFFORTS TO LETTING US KNOW ABOUT AWESOME THINGS
No worries!
INSANE RESULTS!!!
I really have a need for this plug-in, having recorded in a garage and noisy rooms where the audio was basically useless. I will test it out as soon as I get the download link, Thank you for the video, one of the most useful birthday gifts to date.
I am really impressed by the quality of this plugin (specially by the fact that it is free). Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks for sharing this. I will check this out as I am editing a Vlog which has a lot of background noise
I'm feeling proud to subscribe to your channel ❤❤❤
I've used for my case in a noisy enviroment when you turned the ambience all the way down. All human VO (in Cantonese) is unexpected natural as you might think. Sounds clean, natural. Great Job! Thanks for sharing,
This will be very useful. Thank you!
Installed it even before this video ended! It works so well! Thanks Michael.
This is a great tool indeed! Thanks for bringing it up 🙂
Dude thank you for showing this! This plugin is going to save me so much time instead of having to edit all of my vocal samples in Edison.
This is super. I just a few days ago was thinking about some tool like that. Want to clean up one great sample but too buzzy. This might help. Thanks, Mike. Simple and clear as always
I wish I watched this video sooner! Thank you so much for this information
Wow! remarkable tool! Thank you for showing this.
As a musician and a video editor this is very useful to me!
this man deserves way more views and money
This could be handy for making electronics repair vids. Quiet down fans and fume extracors. Thanks for posting this. Looking forward to more. Cheers!
Goyo is genuinely wild, I’m so impressed. I think the intuitive nature really edges this one out to the paid ones I already own.
Love it! Always awesome content!
Excellent video, great that there’s still great stuff out there that doesn’t need click bait. Thank you!
Thx buddy, this is brutal
You've Always been a blessing
I'ts a good gate. You know someone was gonig to say it. I do see uses for plugins like this, to replicate a room e.g; unless we can record a session in an expensive studio, we need to replicate ambience digitally. to give the impression of a space. That this plugin is free, is such a gift. So much good stuff has been coming out recently open source, where people contribute, those unable to at the time, that probably will pay when they can, get to use it as well. It's generous that people share software in this way, and the trend should continue imo, because there is so little trust in the world right now, and when someone offers something like this, on trust, those that can will pay.
Thanks for adding the detail about the terms of service and talking about that need for conversation on AI, I appreciate your thoroughness.
Thanx for sharing this plugin with us!
It's really good !
Wow just dl and tried it. The singers I use to work with often record themselves in a non treated place. This helps a lot to remove unwanted reverb
what in the actual this is sooo nice, could probably use this and rvox together
