No problem! There wasn’t much out there on how to do it, so I figured I would try and help others like me putting their first one together. Thanks for watching!
I am just about finishing my .308 build, prices are a thing of the moment as now 2 years later they are more, some parts are about same but I paid for my lower also AP but FDE in town $200.00; I wanted to do an 80% lower but 5D tactical/80% Arms screwed me with the order initially, lost it and took my money still fighting for refund; they sent another one on a different order that reads coming in couple days; we will see. In all my parts I am close to 2K but including AR10 tools and 4 Lancer Magazines; I want to do another upper that would be a 6.5 and then swap it to use same lower, as soon as recover from this expense will work on that one. The Scope I am eyeballing is a Nightforce that sells for $1800.00, if one wants to truly enjoy precision shooting which is the purpose of the builds then that is the price one must pay, going with a budget scope would negate having expended so much on parts! but I am still holding my horses about the scope; it is a big commitment. The weight of my system so far u loaded without scope is close to 11 pounds; would be around 15 with scope and loaded but this is a bench rifle, not a back slinger, not even intended for hunting!
Good video. I would be concerned about using blue thread locker on such small parts. Perhaps purple instead. Also, one trick I use when installing the bolt catch release is to use a piece of 12 gauge copper wire and insert through the barrel end to keep it in place while screwing or pinning from the stock end. As the screw or pin moves through the hole it will push out the wire.
Thanks for watching, yeah purple may be a better idea, I didn’t have any, just had some blue and tried not to use a lot of it. That’s a good tip on the bolt catch! I’ll have to try it next time. Thank you!
No it doesn’t need to be an aero bolt catch, you should be able to us another manufacture’s bolt catch. That being said since it is an AR10 you will want to do some research to make sure whatever you choose will work as there is not a mil spec like AR15 has.
Bought pivot and take down pins they were to short and ideas? Don’t want to keep ordering pins till ik why they were to short I bought my lower from 80% arms
Yeah that’s a tough one. My first AR it took me awhile to get it started an not scuff up the side. I ended up buying a roll pin starter punch and that thing works wonders. Helps out a lot. I’ve seen people try and hold it with tweezers and do it, but haven’t done that myself
The Real Avid Master Bench Block is $40 and worth it's weight in gold for stuff like that. It lets you mount the lower receiver so you can use both hands to start your roll pins. And a roll pin starter punch is wicked helpful.
I appreciate you watching and the feedback. I do have chapters in the video if you want to skip ahead to the parts that you want to watch. I try to explain what I am building and why and not just dive into it.

Many thanks for taking the time to make this video! It has helped me with getting my M5 lower put together.

Thanks for the video. It was very informative.

Purple?
It is one step below the blue thread locker, makes it easier to remove.
Thanks, I enjoyed this.
Thanks for watching!
Love your videos
Thanks for watching! Hope they have been helpful

The link to it should be in this video, RUclips took it down
I want to make an AR that shoots 45/70 or a company to make parts that I can use to make one. I know one exists but it's like $4800.
Does I have to use the Aero bolt catch on an aero lower? Or will any bolt catch work?
No it doesn’t need to be an aero bolt catch, you should be able to us another manufacture’s bolt catch. That being said since it is an AR10 you will want to do some research to make sure whatever you choose will work as there is not a mil spec like AR15 has.

Does 80% arms sell their own pins? You could take a measurement and then before you buy them see if the pins give you a measurement
Make sure you are buying AR 10 pins and not AR 15 pins. The 10 is a wider receiver.
Any tips to getting the bolt catch pin started?
Yeah that’s a tough one. My first AR it took me awhile to get it started an not scuff up the side. I ended up buying a roll pin starter punch and that thing works wonders. Helps out a lot. I’ve seen people try and hold it with tweezers and do it, but haven’t done that myself

Would the same process be accurate to assemble a 308?
Yes very similar, it uses the same platform as this! The first one I ever built and still my favorite for hunting is my 308
we're halfway through this video and we haven't even started assembling it yet. Goodbye

You TAKE your gun to a gunsmith...
Got half way through the video and you didn't do anything except talk.... I had to move on to some thing more productive
I have chapters in the video so you can skip to the part you are interested in and can avoid me jabbering :)
Cowboys fan Im out. 😂
Haha hey now, at least I grew up in Dallas, and too young to have gotten to really enjoy when we’re were good!
