As a 12 yr old, I lived there for almost a year, in 1955, which ironically, was a lovely, very hot sunny Summer. The Crowds , mostly from Bristol and South Wales, had a great time, because all the usual British Seaside facilities and amusements were at their height then. For a kid, from a Large industrial City in the Midlands, it was like paradise.

I just missed all this...we'm went to the beach from Avonmouth in the 70s as if it were a visit to Bondi beach
