Used to watch Billy & the Aztecs at the Whitehorse Inn Nunawading whenever they played there, usually Friday nights. A large part of my fond musical memories from that era!
Saw Billy and the band many times in various venues in Sydney during the early 1970s. Always amazing performances. He is actually performing better on this video than back then .
***** Hi Rune He had so much blues passion.Previously,he had been one of our most successful pop artists ! He 'changed' to blues, early 70's,after 10 years at the 'top of (Australian) 'pops'.R.I.P.Billy Thorpe. Regards, Greg.
Billy was my hero between '69 and '74, before I left Oz for distant shores. He was a true Legend in Australian Rock and this clip honors this man so well for the talented individual he was as a singer and guitarist. I was fortunate to see him and the band in so many venues, from pubs to Sunbury and he never disappointed. His music and spirit will never die.
Thorpie, unbelievable voice in harmony with the 12 stringer, one of our greatest deserves more recognition, he may have been born in UK.but aussie thru and thru, love ya mate.
A pretty good version of an old Elmore James blues, if my memory serves me correctly. I heard a story years ago that Thorpie was turned onto blues music by two Perth musos who he had hired to replace members of the original Aztecs, They had previously been in Ray Hoff and the Offbeats here in Perth and had played a lot of blues and R&B. It's stranqe to think back to those times and remember that Perth, in the 60's, had an almost secret little enclave of blues musicians and fans.
WTF! Billy is AMAZING. How come this good stuff wasn't mainstream or was I lost. The only song I heard was Children O T Sun. Sorry I missedyou when you were around. You kicked ass B illy!
I saw him and the original Aztecs in 94 and I was screaming so loud under him that he waved and said hello to me!!!! Won't ever forget that night in Newcastle!!! I was almost 18 😄😄😁
Thanks for uploading this! When I was 14 I had the great privilege of jamming this song with these men at soundcheck, playing that very guitar of Billy's. Was the first day I met them all, and the beginning of a very memorable friendship with ol' Thorpie. "I've got heavy gauge strings on that guitar and this little prick's playing them like they're rubber bands" - Thorpie
There is a plaque at the site of the Sunbury festival which is not far from where I live. I’ve got my photo taken with it and it’s my computer screen background. He was the best of the best.

?????
Have you been living under a rock for the past 40 years!
Midday Show probably not the best venue for a talent like Billy and the boys. What has 100 feet, blue hair and 4 teeth? The audience at a Midday Show!
