Can we finally give Jonthan Byers a big part in season 4 like it was in season 1. His character is seriously so underrated and Charlie Heaton literally nails any scene he’s in. It’s time we give his character justice again.

This scene was so touching. Their love is so beautifully written and it helps that Charlie and Natalia are the absolute sweetest! Jancy really is that "old married couple"
I love how quiet this scene is, I think it's so fitting for these characters, Nancy and Jonathan, and their chemistry is always off the roof imo, they play them almost like soulmates or kindred spirits. I really don't see how people want her to choose Steve even after season 4, when they built Jancy from the very beginning. Some people seem to have a short memory on all 3 of their character developments.
They are just crazy 12 year old Steve fan girls that do not realize that loving Steve doesn't mean having to love Stancy. Steve wants Nancy to pop out 6 kids for him? Say what you want but Jonathan seems to understand her way better than Steve does

@@22taylorsversion9Not all Steve fans want Stancy - I don’t. I absolutely hate the thought of it. Steve and Nancy don’t match at all. They never did and still don’t. He’s family oriented; she’s career focused. She plans to go to a great college and has an idea for her future; he didn’t get into college and is stumbling around and doesn’t know what he wants. He plans future events about the two of them without consulting her and seeing if she wants it too; she never tells him she’s not happy with those plans or whether they fit into her future plans as well.
They don’t communicate properly. They don’t seem to actually see each other properly. They’re not really patient with each other (though that’s more a s2 thing): they don’t appreciate the horror and grief each went through after s1 and the different approach they took with that grief - Nancy got loud and angry, Steve got quiet and wanted to forget. Neither were wrong.
They’re horrible together. I love Steve. I hate Stancy. I also love Jonathan and wish more was done with his character and that he wasn’t sidelined. All these things can be true and felt and acknowledged by one person.
Honestly the one hot take I might have in this comment section is that I hate Nancy. I think she’s a bitch and that both Jonathan and Steve deserve better than her. But if I had to choose a ship it would definitely be Jancy.
@@dawnmayflower4422 Couldn’t agree more when S4 ended I actually liked the thought of Stancy getting back together but after like a yr, I’m like “what” imo the three of them should go their separate ways, Jancy had some cute moments throughout S2-S3 (like this scene in the video right here). Idm Nancy too much I thinks she’s a badass when it comes to fighting against the bad. But relationship wise not so much. She broke Steve’s heart, and cheated on him without fully breaking up with him and she’s pushing Jonathan away like it’s all gonna work out still while doing nothing and she’s still okay with Steve flirting with her. I hate when ppl say it’s all Steve’s fault while Nancys pretty much okay with her, Nancy could’ve easily told Steve to stop when he kept talking about the 6 lil nuggets, but nope she seemed okay with it. Her character arc has gone downhill in S4 same with Jonathan’s but tbh he just got high and got less scream time and that’s it, he may have lied to Nancy about the collage thing and still dint tell her when he was face to face with her, but I mean that’s his choice.

The start of it was when she was pulling the spiderwebs out of his hair - it was done (and filmed) in such a way that it wasn’t just friendly. She looks up at him under her eyelashes with a half smile while telling Steve to be careful when diving into the lake. *Nancy* wanders over to touch *him* after the four of them have killed the demobats guarding the gate, before fleeing to Skull Rock. She looks up at him under her lashes while tending to his wounds. She stares at him all doe eyed when he’s talking in the RV and the Upside Down about when talking about his future plans, only losing the happy edge when saying he imagines her by his side.
Like girl. You’ve got a boyfriend. One you proclaim to love. One you left the guy you’re currently flirting with for, via cheating. Steve definitely flirted through most of s4 and said some inappropriate things but Nancy is hella messy when it comes to relationships too. Like what you’ve said, maybe all 3 going their separate ways would be best.
(I think a major reason why there was a Stancy revival was simply because of how the characters were divided this season and thus a lack of pairings interacting together in the same scene: Nancy-Jonathan, Hopper-Joyce, Dustin-Suzie. And even pairings that do interact in the same scene had conflict in s4: El-Mike, Max-Lucas. A new pairing got chopped off at its knees in the first episode: Chrissy-Jason. So the writers decided to add to the run time and add that spicy romantic flavour by having romance-coded moments between two characters in the same location sharing scenes together and thus: Steve-Nancy. I truly believe it was nothing more than numbers on a spreadsheet because up until that point the series had spent 3 seasons showing us why Steve and Nancy do not work as a couple, only friends at best, both when together and doing their own things separately. ST made it a point to demonstrate this matter effectively and repeatedly. Until they walked back on that in s4.).
I don’t think Jonathan should have lied, but if he wanted to go to a different college that was his prerogative. In s1 we know he wanted to go to NYU since he was 6, then he’s going to a different college with Nancy after they started dating, then his plans change when his family uproots to California. I think he just found it hard to talk to Nancy and explain his situation.

I just finished watching Season 4 and I’m terrified that Nancy is going to get back with Steve. I feel like everything Jonathan and Nancy have been through, all of their moments, are just being tossed aside even after this beautiful scene. Same goes for Mike and Eleven. They reinforced these beautiful pairs and now they’re almost reversing. Boy, I was a sobbing mess last night over this

@@ashigupta4889 same here. Steve and Nancy getting back together would just be so forced and it wouldn’t make sense considering huge chunks of their character development came from their breakup. All it would show me is that the favored character gets whatever he wants at the expense of other ones.

This is probs the most emotion-Mixed Stranger Things Episode I have seen, at some points you get angry, at some points (Ahem, Hoppers ‘Death’, Billys Death, etc.)
You get sad, and thats what makes this series AWESOME, how much you can relate to it (Mike telling El about his feelings for her), and how just, Overall AWESOME This Series is.

I’ve been thinking so much about that! He seems so unlike himself in this season. I mean, originally he was a quiet, sweet and self aware kid who loved his family more than anything and now he hardly hangs out with them anymore. Last year I could clearly imagine him maintaining his relationship with Nancy and being the best brother to Will and El, and even though he still is nice, he just seems so out of it now. I don’t know what they’re doing to him, but that is NOT my Jonathan
He had some kind of redemption in vol2, he was not stoned anymore and had that talking with Will. However, even his redemption is sidelined and hidden. He is so underrated

California storyline in season 4 doesn't seem very right. They made Jonathan kind of unlikable to let Steve shine but I still want these two together hope in volume 2 they reunite.

It reminded me of Nathan and Peyton in One Tree Hill - two people who decide they should be a couple for a while because they're pretty together and it's what their social group expects of them. They had none of the depth, love or communication that Jancy has.

My favourite stranger things couple, I've really enjoyed watching Jonathan and Nancy/ Charlie and Natalia throughout season 3, really can't wait to see what season 4 has in store for these two. 😀👍
this scene is so amazing. the song, the vibe, everything. It reminds me of when stranger things 3 first came out back in 2019. 2019 summer was my best summer so far. this scene makes me want to fall inlove again with my soulmate, and experience real love, not “love” that boys know nowadays to only use you for your physical body. it also gives me retro 80s vibes which i love, makes me wanna dress however i want and not live up to societies standards. overall, this scene holds a special place in my heart and comforts me when im feeling extremely numb and depressed. i love it
LMFAOO i love what i wrote. Yesterday i found out my boyfriend isnt loyal and has been lying to me this entire time after all. Way worse than what the one before did. I may now have days where I will breakdown because of him, and not fully trust a guy anymore, but it’s okay. I still have hope to find true love. Even though i believed he was my true love. The music used for this scene really calms my aching heart. I have severe anxiety everyday now and have been losing weight due to throwing up and losing my appetite, all bc of him. I hope future me finds this again and is fully healed. Love you ❤️

I only remember this scene because of the music they deserve a damn award for every season the music is so perfect.
I dont know why, but every time I watch this scene, it makes me sad because it reminds me that one day after I graduate I'm going to have to leave my childhood home, for good. Shows how fast things can change and how fast time goes by.

You're absolutely correct. Never ending story scene, this Nancy and Jonathan scene, Nancy and her mom scene, El reading Hoppers letter scene. All of them are art at its absolute best.
