It has been converted with a gasification mod which allows them to use wood as gas. As long as there is bio mass (like wood, twigs, bushes, coal etc) you can run a gasification modified engine.
@Fire23eater Thats true for pretty much every commercial vehicle on the planet. It still beats a honda civic or any other commuter car. Remember SHTF doesnt always mean war. It could be any reason you need to get out of the populated cities. earthquake, flood, blackouts, blizzard, tornado, chemical spill, nuclear fall out, food shortage, water shortage, riots. Whos to say you cant weld some 3/4 inch steel plates to the front bumper to protect the radiator?
Sorry but I live in Vegas. Yes it has 2 million people but at the end of my street there is open desert. The only thing stopping me from going off road is a sidewalk and a ditch that is meant to stop 2wd and passenger cars from leaving pavement. Not everyone lives in the heart of the city. Many of us live in the suburbs and in my case there is no more suburbs further out from me. Suburbs gotta end some time dont they? Now Los Angeles county in California? Yeah they are screwed. lol
@ilkhanX I used to work for an oil company years ago and I can tell you this. Gas powered cars, in time will have unusable fuel. It will turn into shellac basically. The only fuel that can be siphoned out of tanks that have been sitting for a while will be diesel. So make sure you get your hands on a diesel when SHTF (long term). The sucky thing is that diesels make for horrible daily drivers so its not practical for me personally to buy one for commuting. Thats kinda sucks!
For you a "bug out vehicle" perhaps but those guys are exploring and enjoying the world, not running away from anything. Judging from some of your other videos you're not joking, this is how you see it. Thanks for the video and the paranoia!
I think you have a serious misunderstanding of what bugging out means? And what prepping means? Its not just about some apocalypse you know. Hurricaines, floods, tornados, tidal waves, chemical spills, blizzards are all realistic reasons to get in your vehicle and get out of town right away. Maybe for just a few hours or maybe a few days? No gas station? There are these new inventions you might not have heard of called jerry cans (aka spare gas tanks) a few tanks can take you 1000+ miles.
@DangerousD1985 What they should have done was built expanded metal window shields that you can remove or install as needed. Then the padlock would make more sense.
Lol you think Im running away from the world and not enjoying it? I think you need to take a closer look at my 600+ videos. I enjoy life and exploring. I just did a review of a Spyderco knife "in a Hawaiian lagoon" and reviewed a slingpack on a gorgeous Hawaiian cliff overlook. I filmed Shot Show CES and SEMA in the last 10 months. How much life have you enjoyed? Haters are going to hate I guess. Lighten up kid, life is too short to be so negative.
What end? There is not going to be an apocalypse. This is more of an urban escape vehicle. I would simply convert it to run on a gasification system and burn wood or any bio mass for fuel. Now if we run out of trees... then I'd be screwed lol
I know what an expedition/overland vehicle is.I just like calling them bug out vehicles because thats what I like to call them. I know they arent built to be BOVs per se.
@mixflip Oh I don't know there would be gas layin' about everywhere. Think about all the broke down cars with full takns of gas just go to the auto parts stor and pick up a manual full pump/extractor. There will be gas stations every 200 yards.
@trenttyre Thats the part that kills me. These things are a rich mans toy more so than a regular guy outdoor/offroad/overland vehicle. As a regular guy myself (on a tight budget) I could probably afford a military surplus diesel deuce and a half for $5000 to $10,000 and build a no nonsense rig off of that.
Alot of assumptions there. I agree the roads will be blocked but not so much by people with guns. At least not in the first 48 hours of the event. In a major event 911 will probably be over run with call for help and cops will be busy those 48 hours. Hurricane katrina was a SHTF event and it took the gov. 5 days just to deliver water. Roads will be blocked by regular people clogging the roads. 2 million people all trying to get on 2 or 3 hwys out of town all at once? Off road is the only way
@jedirifleman Yeah and if we experience an EMP we are all dead any way since most people dont have access to sustainable renewable food and water. And if you do have sustainable renewable food and water... you will be in for the fight of your life and you probably dont have enough bullets to stop them all from taking your resources. Yes EMP is ugly. Especially 6 months down the line when canned food and bottled water supplies are all gone! What good is your EMP proof vehicle?
The end of the world comment was a joke if you couldnt tell. You are correct. If a meteor destroys the planet what good is a 4x4 vehicle and some extra food? If extreme cold or heat take out the worlds food supply and all animals who need vegetation die and all the meat supplies die off..what good is prepping for extinction? End of the world prepping is pointless. Regular disasters I understand because they are temporary and non global.
@gatewaysolo104 If the vehicle is parked in the middle of nowhere on an expidition the bad guys could simply break the window rathern than mess with a drill???
I read somewhere , years ago mind you. That the chemtrails are preparing the atmosphere for some type of alien invasion, or controled alien-esque experiment.. With large scale projectors, 3-d holograms and the pre-conditioning thats been happenign the past 10 20 years with alien this alien that.. Its bound to go down of smoothly.. Just a thought, but my honest opinion is that they are poisioning us.. Like they would chemtrail over their own houses. Im sure there are no go areas for the sprayers..
Ardoyne Prepper This chemtrail talk is idiotic. It doesn't make sense to kill everyone with poison chemtrails. The people in power NEED the millions of working poor. The middle income working poor is what drives the worlds economy. The very poor don't contribute and the very rich get rich off the billions of working middle class. If you kill the middle class you kill the cash flow to the rich. Its not chemtrails, Its just water vapor from hot jet engines passing through cold moist air. Thats all, nothing more. If aliens have the knowledge and power of intergalactic space travel I am sure they don't need to spike out air to get what they want. Would you tamper with the air to stomp out a trail of ants? Its a waste of time. Just step on them.
I agree with you completly. Thats a great use of words. I think the aliens would want to intervene for the positive, and perhaps they already have.. Or maybe we are alone in our own wee world..
not really for the bugged-out-vehicle. it was probably meant for us bugs to get out of the way i suppose. it is bugging out for the bugs. we're much much smaller than a spec of nano germs when we compare ourselves with the vastness of the whole galactic universe so why bother feeling greater by having these kind of Get-Away-Vehicles. :) :)
(Con't) One more thing. I would really like to be able to go from cab to cabin without having to lock up from outside the vehicle, just in case I happened upon an emergent and life threatening circumstance.
@heca906 If we were ever hit by an EMP having a running vehicle is just a crutch. You will eventually run out of gas soon and even your EMP proof biodeisel vehicle will be worthless as a dead horse also. Ad in the millions of desperate thirsty & hungry people who failed to prepare chasing every resource down like packs of wolves and even folks in the mountains with guns & food will be over run. People fail to see the big picture when they bring up the EMP argument.
unless u can make ur own fuel a vehicle is useless after an armagedon type thing; maybe bio ethanol would be easiest to make to power an otto cycle type engine (spark ignition).
If its Armageddon then I really don't want to live anyway lol. If its a long term emergency I agree with you, all vehicles will be rendered useless eventually. There are a few that will still be running when the gas and diesel runs out though. There a re a few guys on youtube that have old trucks that have been converted to "gasification" i.e. they simply use wood or any biomass to run a standard gas engine. Now if the wood runs out then your will be screwed too lol. Battery powered bikes and motorcycles that can be recharged with solar panels are out there too so there are options. But the majority will be screwed though.
mixflip yes, wood gas etc is a good idea; I dont know how they get mixture correct though? Fresh water would be main issue perhaps? that and other people; u would have to kill them to remove potential threat or risk being an allie; which would u choose?
It depends on what kind of bullets you shoot at it and where you hit it? Someone shot my Toyota pickup truck bed and 2 of the 3 rounds of 40caliber didn't pass all the way through the sheet metal. So technically it is bullet proof lol.
mixflip Well, Im talking bullet proof like those armored cars used to transport large amounts of cash. They can be shot with high powered rifles and not take a scratch.
Leena Circle Page I would, assuming I could afford this rig, rest assured at night knowing it was bullet proofed. We just had a scary case of someone shooting into a vehicle as someone slept inside. Needless to say, he did not survive. I just think with all that investment, Leena, why not go all the way and bulletproof. Just in case. Also I don't like having to leave the cab to get into the cabin. Why not just have a connective passage way betwixt cabin and cab a la EarthRoamer.
Nice vehicle but from that video i see two flaws, one is the location of the tool box and second of all....... Whos the smart person who pop rivets a padlock fixture on to a door? Give some one 5 seconds with a battery powered drill and the whole lot will be off. Im not sure what you can get in america but there are better winchbars out there
The average person can get 90% of this Vehicles Capability for 1/10th its cost by purchasing a used 4 wheel Drive Camper Van and a Utility Trailer... And FYI this would be a horrible Bug out vehicle because it literally announces to every single person who see's it that that is exactly what it is... You know depending on the situation, part of "Bugging Out" might entail camping in a parking lot, side street, Apartment complex, ect ... The ability to hide in plain, to blend in and not draw attention to ones self is no small thing..
rainmechanic I agree hiding in plain sight is a good thing. As nutnfancy already proved, he was driving in a his shitty Chevy Astro van in Oakland California and it still go broken into. Looking like a piece of shot van didn't stop someone from breaking in and stealing all his collection of knives worth several thousands of dollars As for the turtle being a horrible bug out vehicle...I will get out of town with anything I can. If I have a wife and 2 kids and my parents down the street. I might be more than happy to put them all in this vehicle and head up to the deep back country where only 4x4 vehicles can go and camp out for a few weeks off the grid. A motorcycle may be fast and nimble but it can't hold all my family and their gear. Neither can a Jeep Wrangler. Sometimes big is good. Just have to be prepared to deal with its weaknesses. An RV like this can always tow a small trailer with a jeep or a 2 up ATV or a couple dual sport bikes.
mixflip Well my argument was that you can get 90% of this vehicles off road capability by purchasing a used 1990's 4X4 Conversion high top Van... There are still many of the late 80's to late 90's Econoline 4X4 conversion vans around on places like Ebay and they can be found out west for under 7500... If you want more capability then the "Turtle" then just by a 10K Mercedes UNIMOG with the command center body.. Or do it on the super cheap and just by a K2500 Series 4X4 Chevy Suburban and put a 4 inch Skyjacker lift kit, and ARB air locker in the differentials, and some 35 inchers...
rainmechanic I won't be buying one of these turtles even if I could. I agree there are many other very capable offroad vehicles out there. If you look at my channel I recently filmed at the overland expo in Flagstaff Az. I have seen dozens of vehicles that can and do go around the world. My personal favorite is a simple Landcruiser series 80 with solid axles lockers and a winch. Throw a cummins turbo diesel in it and I'd be in heaven.
mixflip Do us a favor. Please post a link, if you're willing. What I don't like about this unit is I'd have to leave the cab in order to enter the cabin. What if I'm in a dangerous venue and needed to get away quickly? I'd want to access the cabin thru the cab. Then, too, It'd have to be armored. Too many nut cases going around shooting at campers these days.
@heca906 Actually you did bring up EMP (read your comment lol) and I wasnt arguing with you. I was talking about people who argue EMP in general not you specifically. Jesus Christ your are sensitive ???? Did you just tell me to shut the fuck up? Really? Thats a great reason for me to block you. I dont tolerate insults on my channel.
Hmmm...gun are not for defense? Wow thats news to me. Im sure your vast knowledge on firearms supports that unusual claim. Guns are for what ever the user intends them to be. They are inanimate objects. They have no power until a human wields them. Guns dont have a "nature". They are not alive or have a will or a conscience.
I love that truck!!! BUT! what is the point of "prepping" for the end of the world? If its the end of the world, its the end of the world. Theres no surviving the end of the world. Now prepping for like natural disasters and such i can totally understand, or war or something of that nature. However prepping for the end of the world in my opinion is a waste of time and money.
Networking with sponsors. Visit the Turtle Expedition website on TheWorldWideWeb for a better explanation of the design process, their latest rig after decades of travel.
@jedirifleman Defiantly not a conspiracy nut.. Yes i like to gather knowledge on certain subjects but i keep an open opinion.. My uncle happens to be in the air force.. I know what is happening with chem trails and cloud seeding.. all the other conspiracy's could be true.. who knows.. interesting otherwise..
It has been converted with a gasification mod which allows them to use wood as gas. As long as there is bio mass (like wood, twigs, bushes, coal etc) you can run a gasification modified engine.

Yes. It has a faraday cage around its electronics.

@00xjclassic Oh ok.I see. interesting for sure. I live 50 miles south of area 51 so I am used to these kinds of things.
@00xjclassic when hydrocarbons (jet fuel) is combusted it creates H2O and CO2 so correct me if i'm wrong, but thats water vapour coming off the back.
I know what an expedition/overland vehicle is.I just like calling them bug out vehicles because thats what I like to call them. I know they arent built to be BOVs per se.
@mixflip - NOt to mention that any running vehicle post-EMP would make you a prime target.
Awesome vehicle. Thanks for showing it to us!!! I love the cameras up front!
@mixflip Oh I don't know there would be gas layin' about everywhere.
Think about all the broke down cars with full takns of gas just go to the auto parts stor and pick up a manual full pump/extractor. There will be gas stations every 200 yards.

Mpg? Bullet proof glass come with the pad lock for door? Weight of the vehicle? Okay on sand? If this gets around 23mpg I may consider...
Yeah, I agree. I wish we could of gotten a few interior shots.
Вандализм
@oStirFryo - You need to "bullet proof" more than just the glass. Most small arms fire easily penetrates vehicle sheet metal.
Alot of assumptions there. I agree the roads will be blocked but not so much by people with guns. At least not in the first 48 hours of the event. @OstinPaintball Yeah I thought that too. Someone could lock you in?
There was no one there to let me look inside.

True.
No, it's an F-550. It clearly says it on the fender. Pause it at 0:57 and you can see it.
Me too.
Good Luck with your desert and no gas station. Cheers.
If the world ends I wont be alive because there wont be a world to live on. I guess it depends on your definition of the the end of the world?
@mixflip this is not one of those "things" as you would call it.. this is a problem and IS REAL...
Notice the chem trails. lol great video, great truck/
You know aliens are behind chem trails....
I read somewhere , years ago mind you. That the chemtrails are preparing the atmosphere for some type of alien invasion, or controled alien-esque experiment.. Nice truck but where is the snorkel? Guess they don't plan on crossing any streams deeper then the hubs.
Question if the world ends where will you buy the diesel?
(Con't) One more thing. I would really like to be able to go from cab to cabin without having to lock up from outside the vehicle, just in case I happened upon an emergent and life threatening circumstance.
A
@TheUltimatevagabond Lol good point.
I think its funny when someone calls someone else a dumbass who is clueless themselves. lol
That's what I call a serious get out of dodge vehicle.
This looks like my 1985 k-30 m-1028 4x4 shelter carrier
@heca906 If we were ever hit by an EMP having a running vehicle is just a crutch. you are so right, great bugout truck, or use for camping. but the end of the world, truck it would be a waste of money. cool truck anyway
@mixflip with all the money invested. i bet glass is buillet proof. hell id do it
I win a big enough lottery I'm going to one of these companies and getting me one and disappear for a year. That is awesome.
I'm getting a unimog and doing the same thing
would like to see one with a 4 door!
@mixflip it's jet exhaust...lol nothing fancy about it other than burn jet fuel. people are just ridiculous.
unless u can make ur own fuel a vehicle is useless after an armagedon type thing; maybe bio ethanol would be easiest to make to power an otto cycle type engine (spark ignition).

Fresh water would be main issue perhaps? that and other people; u would have to kill them to remove potential threat or risk being an allie; which would u choose?
but you can live in it.... just live in it
so were is the official website for this vehicle? And where can we view the inside?
who's changing the flat tire on that beast? AAA? Not so much..
You sure its not the f-350?
@qwikyking You are right!!! but.... the chemtrails DO NOT DISSIPATE..
So is it bulletproof?
It depends on what kind of bullets you shoot at it and where you hit it? Someone shot my Toyota pickup truck bed and 2 of the 3 rounds of 40caliber didn't pass all the way through the sheet metal. So technically it is bullet proof lol.

No it is NOT BulletProof. BUT it is IdiotProof though.
Yes. That's right. I wish I could buy one from an importer. It is LEFT HAND steering but we're RIGHT HAND steering here in the Great UK. :) :)
Well it said F550 right on the side.
Whats with calling me a dumbass???
Does it move after EMP?
Didn't see any nerf bars so I wouldn't be trying any serious rock crawling either the more I look at it the more of a joke it seems to be
the lock would be easily remove just drill out the exposed rivets
cross portugal with that and you have to sell your home to pay the gas.
its 2.50 dolars 1 litre...(not gallon)
@00xjclassic Whats up with all the chemtrail comments? Is that a conspiracy thing??? Just curious?
So... you are a Conspiracy Denier.
Very interesting.
Please, tell us more about the 'non-existent conspiracies'.
Nice vehicle but from that video i see two flaws, one is the location of the tool box and second of all....... Whos the smart person who pop rivets a padlock fixture on to a door? Give some one 5 seconds with a battery powered drill and the whole lot will be off. Im not sure what you can get in america but there are better winchbars out there
Its not mine.
Bad ass... Thanks!

Jay Young turtleexpedition.com/vehicles/
But in the end there aint gona be no gas youd have to ditch it
@mixflip What if the gray beings from the planet Rimullon come? They will just look at this vehicle and it will instantly vaporize!! ;-)
Not really low profile but practical vehicle I guess.
"simply convert it to run on a gasification system and burn...bio mass for fuel"
well for this truck it means when the gas station closes
@tnb4mnf i thought 550's were 7.3
@heca906 Actually you did bring up EMP (read your comment lol) and I wasnt arguing with you. I was talking about people who argue EMP in general not you specifically. The inside is all HELLO KITTY decor.

What about EMP ....
kyle boudreau use your LPC. leather personnel carriers.
Holy Crap!
Padlock is a joke, just break the window.
WANT!
i want that!!!!!
This vehicle will fail an EMP bug out. It will be dead in the driveway.
just buy an old ambulance from n emergency vehicle auction.... easier to add onto something than start new
Nice vehicle but have seen MUCH better at TIGER Expedition vehicles made to order and
reasonable to the average person!
watch "Overland Expo Profile: The Turtle Expedition, Unltd." and stop calling it a "bug out" vehicle
Hmmm...gun are not for defense? Wow thats news to me. Im sure your vast knowledge on firearms supports that unusual claim. Guns are for what ever the user intends them to be. They are inanimate objects. They have no power until a human wields them. Guns dont have a "nature". They are not alive or have a will or a conscience.
someone could lock his truck with a padlock
At 1:00 in the video check out the nasty chemtrails..
I love that truck!!! BUT! what is the point of "prepping" for the end of the world? If its the end of the world, its the end of the world. Theres no surviving the end of the world. Now prepping for like natural disasters and such i can totally understand, or war or something of that nature. However prepping for the end of the world in my opinion is a waste of time and money.
no 360 gun turrent..
That is the most descusting thing ive ever seen.......How does a guy even begen to pay for somthing like that.....Thats what dreams are made of!!!!!!

This truck wont do much good when that pos 6.0l craps out
Just one word .. EMP. It's not shielded from an EMP, it's absolutely worthless
