Soul destroying. I agree, that is a very apt description for Jack fishing, especially for someone who hasn't caught many Jacks before. They guys like Owen and Mick Horn who put in the big hours week in and week out to learn the systems earn their fish the hard way.
I am sorry to be the only one saying this but it wasn't put out of its misery at first and I knew you put it in a live bait tank but it didn't look like there was any filtration system but I might be wrong, I did really like the video great help cheers!
An absolute description of what these Jack kings go through every week distress and constantly casting but when you get one shit it pays off so you fish the Nerang for jacks much? Or was it just a one off just started getting into it and haven’t found like barely any vids around the Nerang for jacks
Another great one Liam. I remember Timmy pulling that massive Jack out on the pontoon. Off the top of my head I think he went for a swim after getting wrapped around it and still managed to hold onto it. You have to hit it up again mate until you nail one.
Named Person I was discussing the idea of what Timmy Turtle and I could film together just the other night mate. So fingers crossed we can make it happen mate.
Jordan Cama Depends on the technique mate. For burning big plastics like we mainly did in this vid I’d look at a 6’10”-7’2” rod give or take about 10-20lbs running 30-40lb braid and 20-40lb leaders but there is always exceptions to the rule mate.
Brett Benham Cheers mate I am torn between smaller vids or splitting into two parts as opposed to one session all the footage jammed in. I’ll work on it though cheers for the comments mate.
Sometimes with fishing if one technique isn't working try another, maybe leaving the lure in the strike zone a bit longer might get a aggression strike or if it's a bit cooler than it has been they might be starting to slow up a bit, just a thought.
Tony Allen Yeah the typical fast reaction bite retrieve approach isn’t always the best technique for every situation you really need to be versatile as a angler to succeed around these changing weather conditions. I’d say I just need more time on the water but don’t we all.
how slow is that ration the the reel man? looks like your reeling Way too fast for my liking.. lol i prefer slower fast retrieve (i got a 5:4 ratio so i have to reel kinda of fast but yours seems faster still)
mark jesson estacio You aren’t from over here are you. We call your mangrove snapper mangrove jack. What you call jacks we call trevally and we have a totally different species we call snapper.
Out of all the places to fish I never understand why people have to go right up into peoples backyards. It’s like someone trying to grab birds out of your tree out the front
I know it's an old video mate but Ive watched it a few time, love the banter and an shit talking cracks me up 😂, especially the mystery cast 😂😂😂
The mystery cast 🤣
Nice work guy's excitement all the way.
Cheers,
Thanks mate.
What a great looking fish(PREDATOR) ALL THE WAY.
Keep it up.
Cheers mate.

Liam Fitzpatrick don’t remember but I used a Molix RT Shad soft Plastic clearchart multicolor flake
What make a model is that boat mate?
That’s OMP’s old rig mate. I couldn’t tell you want it is. He him up on his socials, he’ll tell ya.
I am sorry to be the only one saying this but it wasn't put out of its misery at first and I knew you put it in a live bait tank but it didn't look like there was any filtration system but I might be wrong, I did really like the video great help cheers!
The pump was turned of while filming mate. Otherwise the spray and bubbles hides the fish. It’s fully plumbed with pump in, pump out and recirculate.
Hey mate this my favorite video. Love watching good jack Vids. This one was amazing. Have a good one
William Woods That’s sick mate. OMP is a legend and shared so many tips in this one. Thanks for watching mate.

Or was it just a one off just started getting into it and haven’t found like barely any vids around the Nerang for jacks
Not as much as I’d like mate. I’ve fished the Nerang for over 20 years but haven’t filmed a heap of jack stuff in there.
nice video😊😍👍
Cheers mate.
Excelent
Pro Angler Rapala
Yes Owen McPaul is a Rapala Pro Staffer here in Australia. One of the best all round anglers in the country.

Murray Crabb Fishing I am a jack of all trades if that helps 😉
Any chance of you fishing up at Raby Bay!!! It’s my back yard moves it 6months ago really would appreciate seeing how you’d fish it 👍👍
Stephen Wilson Yeah definitely due to get back in there mate. I haven’t fished in there for years.

Nice mate.
Another great one Liam. I remember Timmy pulling that massive Jack out on the pontoon. Off the top of my head I think he went for a swim after getting wrapped around it and still managed to hold onto it.
You have to hit it up again mate until you nail one.
Luke T Yeah should get another session in with @smashabass before the seasons over.
Liam Fitzpatrick there’ll be no better feeling once you land one mate. Can’t wait to see it.
Mate I’ve caught plenty just haven’t filmed much jack fishing yet. My PB is a 66cm brute mate.
Liam Fitzpatrick holy shit.......didn’t film it, didn’t happen lol 😂.
I’ll have to live vicariously through the idea that jacks that big actually exist. 66cm is incredible mate
Great fishing guys
ROB T Thanks mate. More of this to come soon hopefully.
Great vid mate, waiting for a link up with Timmy 👍
Named Person I was discussing the idea of what Timmy Turtle and I could film together just the other night mate. So fingers crossed we can make it happen mate.
Liam Fitzpatrick haha yeah mate, would be so good
I’ll try a make it happen mate.
Hey mate just wondering what do you think is the best kinda size rod/reel/line spin combo for jack fishing? What do you recommend
Jordan Cama Depends on the technique mate. For burning big plastics like we mainly did in this vid I’d look at a 6’10”-7’2” rod give or take about 10-20lbs running 30-40lb braid and 20-40lb leaders but there is always exceptions to the rule mate.
Thank you brother
Epic vid! Smashajack**
Mangrove Jai Smash em for lyfe 👊🏻
Watch alot of fishing videos. Like your content think you would get alot more subscribers if you keep them under 20 mins cheers Bretto
Brett Benham Cheers mate I am torn between smaller vids or splitting into two parts as opposed to one session all the footage jammed in. I’ll work on it though cheers for the comments mate.

michael it’s a 6:1 mate but when Owen says wind it faster you wind it faster.
You wind way to fast mate slow retrieve, let the lure do the work and get a bit more depth
Team Dignity Na not when you’re trying to get a reaction bite out of em. Do you fish the Gold Coast mate?
Thats a snapper not a jack
mark jesson estacio You aren’t from over here are you. We call your mangrove snapper mangrove jack. What you call jacks we call trevally and we have a totally different species we call snapper.
Americans lmao
They’re alright mate.
Mystery cast......🤣🤦🏻♂️
Craig Ullmann nothing like a half ounce to the head 😆
Cracka vid
Cody Thornton cheers mate I hope it was worth the watch.
Out of all the places to fish I never understand why people have to go right up into peoples backyards. It’s like someone trying to grab birds out of your tree out the front
As much as you think you own the water backing up to your property, you don’t and he can fish their if he chooses to.
@@zlatkovuckovic6443 i know you dont own it hence the comment about you can do the same to a tree. Theres plenty of trees in the forest
Tree huggers 🌲
