We should honestly stop investment in fixing the “car lifestyle” and build better bike infrastructure and public transit. Long Beach to Santa Monica should never be a 1.5hr drive.
In my opinion the speed limit on this road should be reduced if they want this strategy to be effective, like the man said …. You have to back up after you see this spot.
originally 'inline parking' was for narrower streets, to conserve room....this will require twice as much room, leading to more asphalt on the ground, heating the air up....and faster run-off with rain...
I’ve seen these in San Francisco and Santa Barbara already. It’s different, but it’s not as bad as some people make it seem. It’ll just be something to get used to in the long run.
this is actually a brilliant idea. Much more scientific than the other science. People having low driving skill is not the excuse for not implementing a overall more efficient parking scheme. People can get used to it, you cannot create space out of thin air.
If these idiot's on wheels, would just take a moment to look, observe signage, and most of all, simply observe traffic rules, we wouldn't have this issue. But then again, you can't fix stupid.
Why is it radical? Perhaps parallel parking was always a bad idea that should have been scrapped shortly after it was invented. We accept things without questioning and over time, something stupid like parallel parking becomes the norm and any change is deemed radical.
Looks pretty good. Worth trying for a while at least. The critical guy won’t like anything that isn’t his idea because he seems like a Mr. Always Right.
Designate one or 2 spots for loading and unloading, and that solves that problem. As far as people having to wait while you're backing in, I think is good, especially on Ventura Blvd. Maybe this will force drivers to slow down since their always seems to be speeding there.
Now. We can assure that people can turn out of parking instead backing out straight and then making 300 point turn... that they made 1 turn going into parking space 😂
Some people are just can't can't drive.
Most people can't even drive going forward, let alone going backwards 🤣
KCAL TELLING YOU HOW TO PARK IS A DISTRACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FROM THE TERRORIST GOP COUP ON J6 ..NEVER FORGET
In Vegas they can’t drive 😂😂
Especially in L.A. 🤷♂️😂💯
Great theory until the tailgaters don't/can't let you back up
Finally!!! Love this! I can't count how many times it's the other way and you have to back out into oncoming traffic. Much safer in my opinion!
We should honestly stop investment in fixing the “car lifestyle” and build better bike infrastructure and public transit. Long Beach to Santa Monica should never be a 1.5hr drive.
BIKE INFRASTRUCTURE! AHAHAHA AHAHAHA LOL
In my opinion the speed limit on this road should be reduced if they want this strategy to be effective, like the man said …. You have to back up after you see this spot.
Arrows on the ground are needed to help reassure people they are going the right direction.
It's 35 mph
IF YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS YOU NEED TO TURN IN YOUR LICENSE!!!! “We only gained one spot” bro that’s kinda the point ….
Drivers BEHIND you are too aggressive, and won’t let you back into space!! 🤷🏼♂️
trust the government with these half-baked ideas

Just because its there doesnt mean it works here... LA streets are different.
And in downtown San Jose as well. There are at least 2 locations I can recall in the area where people can park.
Back in the 30’and 40’ Los Angeles had parking lanes!!! And the city took them out ??
The bike lanes should had been between the curb and parking
BIKE LANES! AHAHAHA AHAHAHA LOL
Bridgeport, Ca has had them for years.

"It's so hard!" Bro, it's a simple 3 point turn but you're backing into an angled parking spot 😂 It's not that hard to understand 😂
There's comprises for everything.
The gov is now a natural way of deciding things. If the society has already had a way, then there might be a reason for that.
Is not going to work. People have a hard time maneuvering to park now, this is just going to make it worse.
this is actually a brilliant idea. Much more scientific than the other science. People having low driving skill is not the excuse for not implementing a overall more efficient parking scheme. People can get used to it, you cannot create space out of thin air.
It's horrible. How many accidents you think will happen when people stop to backup?
@@d.fenestrator9529 do you have any data to back up your claim? This is not a new invention.
Laguna Beach has had these for a while now
KCAL TELLING YOU HOW TO PARK IS A DISTRACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FROM THE TERRORIST GOP COUP ON J6 ..NEVER FORGET
I'm the only saying Huntington Park has this for years not new to me
They have one in the Inland empire. I was confused tbh
Just one bad idea after another.
The spots are not the problem people still suck at driving and that cant ever be fixed
the delivery vehicles might be a matter of contention especially for the convenient time using these reverse diagonal parking spots
If these idiot's on wheels, would just take a moment to look, observe signage, and most of all, simply observe traffic rules, we wouldn't have this issue. But then again, you can't fix stupid.
I love it. Back in, drive out. Safer, easier. I’ve seen idiots park head in. Come on people. Get use to it.
Isn't head-in diagonal better?
I saw them from El Sereno to San Marino. Nothing New Here.
This is awesome
LA streets are notoriously dangerous?
Add protected bike lanes please and redo the parking please
Drivers edd. 101. If you cant park any way you dont belong in a car
Why is it radical? Perhaps parallel parking was always a bad idea that should have been scrapped shortly after it was invented. We accept things without questioning and over time, something stupid like parallel parking becomes the norm and any change is deemed radical.
Herondo Street in Hermosa/Redondo Beach has this kind of street back-in parking for many years.
This is so brilliant...NOT. Not everyone with a drivers license can back up safely...proven fact.
Another example of society going backwards.
Sign my petition to take back the side walk from pedestrians. We need more space for our cars
In Downtown Yucaipa, they have this type of street parking.
La is crowded period!!!! You don’t have that problems in OC because we have consideration for others.
Looks pretty good. Worth trying for a while at least. The critical guy won’t like anything that isn’t his idea because he seems like a Mr. Always Right.
It's ONLY been some seventy years that someone has come up with a good idea.
The nay-sayers are the idiots here.
Most people can't parallel park, nevertheless back up & park.
I got my first and only parking ticket for backing into a spot downtown (not in LA).
Wait.
What?
2:19 what about the car that is behind you honking yelling 🗣️ wtf are you doing

Parking originally was angle/back-in parking! Back to the drawing board… but it works for me 😂
huntington park is filled with these, its nothing new… it actually is a good idea
Good luck.
Any change is going to require some time to get used to. I consider this a good solution but of course are some streets where this wouldn’t be ideal.
Jose Roca 🤨
Yeah not a bad idea
Japan method. much more safety .
This is so stupid! Will create lots of rear end collisions!
Now. We can assure that people can turn out of parking instead backing out straight and then making 300 point turn... that they made 1 turn going into parking space 😂
IT HURTING MY BRAIN! AHAHAHA AHAHAHA LOL
😂
