    I’ve run blackface Fenders my entire career and have searched hi and low for a reverb/tremolo pedal that emulates the real thing. In my opinion, this pedal is by far the closest. I have tried and like the flint which for a time was the closest but this is right on the money. Most digital pedals sound great in the studio but lack the tube like dynamics in a live situation. This does both very very well. The holy grail and flint are the only other reverbs I’ve found to perform well live but weren’t quite exact. True Spring is the one! Thanks Source Audio.

    I’ve been using the Flint for many years now and it sounds really good but I always wished the reverb was brighter and drippier. I just got the True Spring and at first I was slightly disappointed because out of the box the settings lacked the warmth of the Flint’s spring verb but after using the editor I was able to dial in exactly what I was looking for and now this True Spring has replaced the Flint on my main pedalboard! It took a bit of work to get here but the fact that this unit is so tweakable, I can store presets and the trem on/off is accessible via remote switch, this thing can do everything the Flint does and WAY more!

  • @rickthomas393

    Thanks! I own the True Spring, and have now bought the Tap Tempo switch, with the goal of adding tremolo to drippy spring reverb with just one toe tap. My previous Strymon Flint, of course did this easily, out of the box. BUT the True Spring has WAY more, & better sounding algorithms & adjustability, IMHO.
    As your demo shows, the S.A. 2-pedal ‘system’ for getting spring reverb & tremolo is more complex than the Flint. It’s worth it to me, but, I have doubts that I would have figured these multiple computer steps, on my own? Thanks for spelling it out. The state of the art spring reverb & tremolo tones are worth it!

    I own and love this pedal’s sound. But are you really gonna do all this cable plugging unplugging button holding while twisting while unplugging and plugging back at every soundcheck? All the while hoping that your power doesn’t get cut before gig time. I hope the next version just has a couple extra knobs and switches. I would love to utilize the tremolo, but rarely even do it at home because it’s too hard to dial that in without messing up your verb settings.

    I have a sourceaudio Vertigo trem pedal (two in fact - one for each of my pedal boards) - it's VERY versatile and sounds even better than my vintage Fender Blackface amps' trems. Honest. Buying this pedal is an inevitability for me, even though I've been VERY pleased with my tc electronics Hall of Fame reverb, which does things like plate, ambient and gated reverbs. This is the golden age of stompboxes...

    I think a really helpful addition would be to be able to access the tremolo controls by holding down the satellite tap tempo switch. This would make setting the tremolo for live use much easier. Just a thought. I love the pedal. I use it everyday.

    • @sourceaudioeffects
      @sourceaudioeffects  5 лет назад +5

      Another solution would be to reassign the primary control Dwell and Tone knobs to Tremolo Depth and Rate. That can be done with Neuro Desktop Editor. This way you can just reach down and adjust the tremolo settings without pressing down the CONTROL OPTION button. Of course you would need to move your reverb Dwell and Tone controls to the secondary function (meaning you would need to hold down the CONTROL INPUT button to adjust the reverb Dwell and Tone).

    Is there a way to save settings for the trem when using the tap switch to turn it on and off? Every time I turn my pedalboard on, the True Spring has gone back to the original speed and depth trem settings as opposed to how I left it. So I have to adjust again. Preset mode is no good as when switching between other pedals it just defaults to the spring and trem both being ‘on’ when engaged so lacks separation. I’ve basically been trying to find a way to separate the trem on/off controls from the spring as much as possible and the tap tempo switch does this, but without the functionality of saving my trem speed/depth between sessions. I had thought of using the preset mode in 800ms mode, but still don’t think this is quick enough or practical for changes during playing. Minor gripes as functionality is pretty good apart from having to change my trem settings every time I turn the pedal on. A true spring release with double switch for trem and spring is probably something SA is thinking about, but it would compromise on the compact size of the pedal.

    • @JasonGutierrez
      @JasonGutierrez 2 года назад

      I know this is an old post and maybe when you posted this, it wasn’t possible but you can save your presets in the editor so that the Trem and Verb are either on or off independently when you first turn on the preset.

  • @droliver

    Sounds great, but I do not like having to hit some toggle to access Tremolo settings. This pedal would be far better and easier to use with 2 additional knobs for tremolo rate and depth. Also, while the software and its use is interesting, do people really buy a reverb/tremolo pedal for that degree of associated complexity with it?

    • @sourceaudioeffects
      @sourceaudioeffects  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the feedback. We should point out that it is possible to reassign the DWELL and TONE knobs to Tremolo Depth and Rate - and push the reverb DWELL and TONE controls to each knobs secondary function. This video explains how to do it at 14:44 in the presentation. Regarding your thoughts on the complexity of this pedal, we totally understand where you're coming from. The truth is, shying away from technology and flexibility in our pedals is completely contrary to our nature - it's like trying to convince a cat to ignore mice. That said we do understand that not everybody is interested in the deep dive editing possibilities of our gear, this is why we developed our "nested complexity" approach to pedals. Each of our One Series pedals offers excellent tones with a very simple control knob configuration (we are fully aware that a large percentage of pedal lovers, like to plug the pedal in and play without needing to tinker around too much). However, even with classic sounds like spring reverb and tremolo, we do believe that there are a number of folks who will still wish make alterations and tailor the sound and the pedal's functionality to exactly fit their needs - this is why we offer the Neuro Mobile App and Desktop Editor. Any changes made with our Neuro Editors can be burned directly to the pedal, so you really only need to go into the Neuro Editor one time to build the exact pedal that you need. Please feel free to email us anytime at contact@sourceaudio.net if you have more questions regarding our gear.

      @@sourceaudioeffects noted. Again it sounds amazing with the stock settings to me so I doubt I get under the hood like that. I do think the additional knobs for the rate/depth would be preferred over toggling to get that because I think a lot of people that would use this live would want to possible tweak both the reverb and tremelo simultaneously and quickly rather then going back and forth with the control. Bravo on the sound though!

    WAY too complicated to use both tremolo and reverb functions on a live gig. Yes, I'm a pro player, and I would buy this pedal in a minute, if it had separate tremolo and reverb control sections. PLEASE make a six or seven knob version of your True Spring! It sounds so much better than a Flint, but I need more control going from song to song, set to set. Thank you.

  • @Euphonicmusicschool

    Is there a way to configure this pedal to have the reverb 'always on' and use the main switch turn the tremolo on/off? The knobs could then be assigned and used, along with the secondary knob functions, to adjust the parameters of the reverb (including reverb mix/level) and tremolo? In most situations, I like to leave a little bit of verb on at all times and bring in the trem here and there. I would love this functionality to where I could set it up this way as one of my presets. I like the compact nature of the pedal as is. I don't want to add a secondary switch as it basically becomes a larger pedal, like the Strymon Flint, taking up more real estate on my pedalboard, having more cables to deal with, etc. Looks and sounds great and would be EXACTLY what I am looking for if this is possible.

    • @sourceaudioeffects
      @sourceaudioeffects  5 лет назад

      Sorry, there's no way to turn the tremolo on and off with the MAIN Footswitch without turning the reverb on and off too - you've got to use the external Tap Switch. You can reassign the tremolo depth and rate to the DWELL and TONE knobs which gives you easy access to tremolo, but I'm afraid it can't do exactly what you're asking.

    • @facelessmule

      @@sourceaudioeffects I'm probably going to buy one of these anyway as it sounds great but I would also be really interested in the ability to have the reverb 'always on' and the main footswitch for trem on/off. At the moment (unless I'm misunderstanding) there appears to be no way to access tap tempo and trem on/off at the same time even with the external switch. Is there a possibility a firmware update would get us this (maybe long press on the ext switch for on/off and short presses for tap tempo)?

      Yes, agreed. Seems like a pain to have to reprogram the tremolo and tap switch each time the power is disconnected. This would we a Flint killer if it was a two-in-one reverb and tremolo box. I know they have a separate tremolo pedal, but a lot of us only use tremolo and verb and would love an all-in-one box that is easy to use. The verb on the True Spring absolutely kills the Flint’s verb.

    I have been thinking of buying this reverb pedal together with its switch pedal, but there are 2 things that I am not totally clear of. So when the control input button is pressed, tremolo functions may be adjusted with the dwell knob, tone knob, and effect selector toggle. Am I right? To reset tremolo to zero, the toggle switch (effect selector toggle) has to be moved without the control input button being pressed. Am I right? Thanx! :)

    • @sourceaudioeffects
      @sourceaudioeffects  5 лет назад

      You can't quite do that. You can reassign both the primary and secondary functions of the DWELL and TONE knobs, so that gives four positions for alternate functions. The only tremolo options available for knob assignment are Trem Depth, Trem Rate, and Tremolo Stereo Offset (Stereo Offset allows you to change how wide the spread is on the tremolo stereo ping-pong effect - it doesn't allow you to move the entire tremolo left or right). You also can't assign tremolo wave shape to a knob, but you can reassign the default tremolo sound for each of the three toggle switch positions.
