Thanks 👍I like help but sometime things go smoother when I'm by my self
Helluva system you have there 👍
Thanks!
If you have enough glass you can also sell it well
To who?
those concave lens make for telescope diy people seen it in a vid think from omegageek64 I think hes in florida too@@ProjectShopFl
Yes, please, do tell. What kind of industry is out there that buys used glass panes like that?
Heavy steel looks like sturdy table legs
👍
Awesome vid bro! Man , " I wish the phone would ring " ... u are the man!!!
Thanks!
hello project shop fl & it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
Hello Randy thanks for watching
Smh man. You are a warrior! Is it that you can't find good help or that you prefer to do the work yourself?
Good help is hard top find and sometimes it is less stressful working by my self.
Your videos are so much fun man if I lived down there I’d come help ya out got my own little thing going out here in the hills right this minute, keep scrapping and stay safe. I would love to see that welded back door guard high on your list of projects
I agree the door cadge needs to made asap.
You should make a montage of all the times you say:
"I'm taking a break"
"I am hungry"
"Miami"
Great job Derek!
😂😂😂 Well I'm fat so I'm always hungry so I have to take lots of breaks then I have to go to Miami to get paid so I can support my sandwich habit. lol
@@ProjectShopFlI feel that 😂
@@tatchley3049 😂
whats the best granulator on the market today you think?
I honestly don't know.
@@ProjectShopFl is there one you would recommend
Idk what’s wrong with my scrap yard but I just brought in a broken down CT scanner 3000 pounds of solid steel and they gave me “torch iron” which is less than scrap. I’ve never gotten “prepared steel for prepared steel which I thought was more money than scrap????? Have you ever gotten the torch steel category thrown on your ticket???????
I don't even know what torch iron is. lol I've only gotten shred steel witch is anything bigger than 4'x4' , thin sheet and got plastic, wood, or insulation mixed in and #1 prepared witch is 4'x4' or smaller, clean and heavy gauge. They don't give you #1 prepared for transformer steel?
Torch iron*
No they won’t give me prepared steel for anything. Everything heavy and thick is always torch iron. Lower price than sheet metal…. Regular sheet metal/scrap .075 a pound and “torch iron” .06
@@ScrapFatherScrapSon Wow, they are straight up ripping you off!
@@ProjectShopFl yeah it’s crazy. Yeah I’ve brought in some stuff that’s oversized but they considered every prepared steel I bring in “oversized I guess … if you bring in oversized what do they call it or do they give you less?
I gotta get on your level when it comes to picking up transformer hauls 😆👍
Gotta put that trailer you got to work. lol Don't wait too long they are going away do to the LED light's.
@thubprint @projectshopfl
Would you be willing to share any basic/generalized information on how a backyard scrapper would scale up?
@@tranhannie I think he’s already covered at least bits and pieces in videos before? I mostly do more in-depth experiments and curiosities
Reusing stuff like those pieces of hardware is the best recycling.
I'm always trying to give things a new life.
I had a buddy Jason Redmond he drove 100 miles every day from home to work then back home he fell asleep on the way home from work he run into the ass end of a tractor 🚜 when the farmer woke him up the hay fork was a inch from his face few weeks later fell asleep again crashed and never woke up again 😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭
Sorry to hear that. Gotta stay focused on the road.
Sorry for your loss
Hello my friend, I wonder; Don't you have recycle place for all your glass? Then you can drive this into this place, instead of the Dumbster lot. Other wise it will take one million year before the glass is breaken down, to dirt-level. I just love your videos, where you are cleaning your work-shop. Love it.
I take it to the local dump and they sort it but it cost to dump.
@@ProjectShopFl Im sorry to hear that. In my country we can delier it for free, then they will recycle it. But we have to sort it first. They will not sort it for us.
Cracking open transformers alwayd reminds me of cleaning crabs 🦀
😂😂😂😂
can i get you to make me one of each of your presses or ican make one if you will tell me how too send me the info i like the craking one the punching punching oneis ok i got two hydraulic cylinders off a dozer thati just sracped out
I dint have time to build a press but you can buy one. watch my channel search transformers and I have many videos where I show how I made the press. Also look for the play list building the copper king where I break the hole press apart.
Anybody else catch the 12 gauge pump with the pistol grip he had behind him when he was cleaning those transformers? lol, I dont blame you that’s a lot of money sitting there
At Project Shop we take safety very seriously. lol
Lmao absolutely! There’s a lot of undesirables in my area that are looking to rob you blind if they can, so we have to do the whole “safety thing” where I’m at too.
Why do you always move the handle on the side of the transformer buster
To tighten and squeeze the transformers so they don't fly out
Ready for a good hour of scrappin! Cant wait buddy!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the video. 👊👍
That Red Bull and over exertion are not good for your ticker or your back. I really enjoy your videos and wish I had gotten into such a business in my younger days.
Thanks for the concern, I try and just drink water and juice but sometimes I need a boost after 12 hours. lol
No they juat did a welding repair video LAST NIGHT!!!!
I was wondering that 2 videos ago but then they did that video last night
This is a part time thing so Steave does other work as well.

37:13 Awesome hand eye coordination, you really knocked those out
Thanks!
a knife maker could use one of those heavy rounds as a knife holder for hand sanding
Cool idea. 👍
I know how you feel. I have insomnia. Im lucky sometimes if I get 4 hours of sleep.
4 hours would be a dream. lol
Do you salvage the iron core from the transformers?
Yes, I scrap them.
It's amazing how just a Sweep up improved the look of your shop. I just want to come there and clean and organize your shop for you. I would also sneak in and do those minor tweaks to your transformer wrecker, and the copper king for you. i think it's amazing that you're in your shop makin' money at 4:00 am. You kick ass. this is my favorite RUclips channel.
Thank you! 👊
Kinda new to scrapping, when you were removing the centers, you separated the wraps of copper, how come? Is there more steel on that piece?
One was aluminum
It's probably a marginal profit but it'd be a way to deal with it. There are companies that recycle glass that's clear which is what you're getting out of those lights if you'll bust it up into small pieces usually they'll bring you like one of those heavy lift bags that will pick up about two or three tons at one time.
I have not found anything like that in south FL. You have to pat to get rid of it.
Will copper transformers be eliminated soon? If so what does that do to your profit?
They have been slowly going away for the past 5 years. There will always be transformers but the lighting one's will eventually be phased out to LED. I plan on recycling AC scrap and electric motors. Also there will always be copper wire.
Nice production here! When I strip junk transformers I always wonder if knife makers could use the center steal layers to make domestic knives as it's like 50 layers of steal.
Interesting, I don't know if the steel would be good for holding an edge. Transformer & electric motor steel is called silica steel and is actually worth more money than #1 prepared steel but you need 20 tons to get the better price.
Got that pump ON DECK
👊👍💪
Do. Those lures work with 110 or 220
What lures? Not sure what you are referring to
Sorry my phone dropped a word in ment to say lightbulbs
loving the video that work must have a crazy pace thanks for the vid, sorry to be a pain could i ask for the name of that music at the 46 minute mark when your blowing through those transformers
I believe it's called watch me breezy from mixkit.co

What happened to the guy that was working for you did you fire him ?
No they just did a Welding repair video together last night!!!!
I thought he might be gone too but he popped back up yesterday. It is the last video before this one. HB
Good to hear that he's still working there.
This is part time so he takes on other work and is not always available
@@ProjectShopFl oh ok
If you need some help let me know , I love scrappin.
Ok, Thanks for the offer.
Damn! Bangin’ out those transformers… literally! I love seeing u do that s#%t
Thanks!
What do you do with the glass domes?
Bring them to the local dump.
You should have Steve build the stator wrecker.
That's not gonna happen. lol
What is the most transformers you have had at one time.
Before LED light's I could do 1-2 tons a day. I think the most I've picked up and ran in 1 day was 3 tons.
yea where is steve . fired. quit. dead. what happen
This is part time so he sometimes has other work he does and is not available

man you work hard good video

That's a ton of transformers and bus bars. Hell of a job to grind through all those. That's a great idea about a security cage for the back door fan to stop anybody from walking right into the shop.
Thanks, I have a barricade out side so it's not that easy to get in but still want the cadge.
Cage would def be extra security, especially for those unexpected crashes in the office. 👍 Or the bark of a mean old junk yard dog 👀 🤣
When they fall out did the copper get very hot
No not that I know of
Make sure to discharge capacitor or else you’ll get shocked bad
Use a screwdriver across both leads
Thanks for the suggestion
Show us what the bar thing looks like
What bar thing?
Where did you acquire this sectioning machine for removing silicon iron blocks from the transformer?
I made it
Derek, how can I build a...? I'm in Brazil!@@ProjectShopFl
Which part of the scrapping does the 12g come into play? :D 18:03

is scrapping worth it as a side hustle and is it better to scrap OR scrap and smelt [into bricks]? Do you make more money turning scraps into bars?
I can't speak for everyone but if you do it right you can make some decent money. You won't get more money at the scrap yard but if you sell it on line you can.
Another good video as always. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it 👊👍
