Great reaction to a great tune, Blessing! Yes, I think this song took a lot of Doors fans by surprise. The slower cadence was atypical of their music. But the song is just haunting, and Doors fans loved it. ❤
Morrison was quite a good poet, I'd recommend any of his poetry books, it's a fascinating glimpse into another era, especially 'The Lords and The New Creatures'.
This songs is about how we are all born into the storm that is life. We go through the joys of love and life through many storms but there is a killer on that road we can cheat for only so long. That killer is death, a fate we all someday face alone. This song is 1970 Poe. Reminds me of "For Annie". The fever that burns in my head, the thing we call living...

Hypnotoad! 😀Jim Morrison was more poet than singer. "Riders on the Storm" is the last song he recorded before he died. The storm in this song is a metaphor for the constantly changing cosmos and the dangers and thrills of living. The instrument you asked about in that last part is a guitar run through some sort of reverb effect.

Yes, this song is genius and that applies to their entire catalog. There is not a single Doors song I can't listen to and have heard their entire catalog for over 50 years now. Anything of theirs is worth your time but something you might like is Crystal Ship, another atmospheric triumph. Simply one of the best ever bands, Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎤🎹🎸🎶🔥
