Both versions are great for different reasons. This version is very dark, tense and is a great accompaniment to an action scene. The dance version is great to dance to, and I love covering that version because it's just so groovy.
I don't agree with the criticism of Repo Men's ending too, i thought it was EPIC Also the fact that the directer used the original version of "sing it back" in such a way gave me goosebumps, VERY CLEVER! amazin film
So here's the dealio. I worked with Moloko for most of their career and THIS is the original version as was meant to be heard by them. There are many versions of the album. Somehow on one of the pressings there was a demo version that got pressed on the CD instead of this version. I found it 5 years ago. They had no idea that it existed. The pressings were from the Netherlands I think and were some of the last new CDs that were still in circulation. This is the original.
@@michaelsinclair2731 Amazing people. They basically took along anyone who got it. I had written a couple of articles about them and they hired me to to do promotional writing for them. I stayed in contact with Roisin for a long time. She turned a corner on a lot of her early fans and people around her. I think that's fair to say. Mark is one of the greatest producers of all time. I can't say anything more at this time. But watch out later this year...
@@michaelsinclair2731 They were amazing. I wrote a bunch of articles about them and I wrote promo stuff and got all their music in front of everyone else. They were my favorite band of all time. They worked with all the people that understood their music and took me along for the ride. I lived in the states so I wasn't as involved as I wished I was. NOW (shhhh) I am working with Mark Brydon and we are about to surprise the world. Just you wait. You heard it here first.
I never heard the original song until Repo Men. This original track is vastly superior in every way. This is a perfect blend with the cinema-graphic nature of the final repo scene with Jude law and the girl submitting all of their parts.
'Vastly superior in every way' is a hyperbolic superlative statement which somehow still falls short of how great this is. My only regret is the time of listening to the song i lost while im typing out this comment, by now the song is over and i will have to play it again. I hope you still access your account, Mario, 11 years after. Know that someone out there loves this the same way you do❤
I saw the young kids dancing on the alliance trophy 2022 video. There was a version of this song and I started to hunt for music. My search led me here. Never heard this before. Thanks for uploading this version.
I like this Version very much and it works in movie very well. But i would like to get the "mainstream" some credit too. I think because of that version, the song found its way into the movie.
I have actually discussed the other version with Roisin in 2008 on her official forum. She didn't say anything about whether it was the original or not, only that it was indeed the "demon disco" version. Anyways, the other version is from the Oceania first pressings of the album, at least mine was. The later pressings have this version, which if you're telling the truth would make sense, that the other version is an earlier version of the song they never intended to leak.
When you are ready, I will surrender Take me and do as you will Have what you want, your way's always the best way I have succumbed to this passive sensation Peacefully falling away I am the zombie, your wish will command me Laugh as I fall to my knees Can I control this empty delusion? Lost in the fire below And you come running your eyes will be open And when you come back, I'll be as you want me Only so eager to please My little song will keep you beside me Thinking your name as I sing No, you can't help it if you have been tempted By fruit hanging ripe on the tree And I feel useless Don't care what the truth is You will be here come the day Truth do you hear me? Don't try to come near me So tired I sleep through the lie If you desire to lay here beside me Come to my sweet melody Sing it back to me (sing it) Bring it back (sing it) Sing it back (sing it) Bring it back Sing it back to me bring it back Sing it back to me Bring it back
Never seen Repo Men but heard this version many many years ago and couldn't figure out how or where as I was not in the UK in 1998....I was in 8 years old in Florida 😅
I know, the original sounds super cool with the tribal-like drums, but at the time Moloko really liked Boris Dlugosch’s mix so they used that for their music video and I think one of their LP/EP albums with the other remixes of this song.
To further add, the "demon disco" version as far as I know was only released in Australia/New Zealand. I can't figure out what prompted them to change the main version to this one, possibly because this one is more sonically cohesive with the album. Regardless, they are both "the original" since they were both released at the same time. However, the other version contains quite a few vocal elements not present in any other version. /rant. MOLOKO IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!! :D
In the nineties I owned pretty heavy HiFi Equipment, this blows your brain and your windows. And i am pretty sure, that they didn't hear, how deep the bass really is.
This version is so much better than the one that became popular. This one is dripping with emotion; you can almost smell the smoke! The pop version was too disco.
@rebelwithoutapause25 That sounds like the Boris Musical Mix, which was the version that got really popular in nightclubs that I mentioned in the description. It's also the version used in the music video with Rosin dancing around in a shiny flapper dress. I would say you're wrong on both claims, but I suppose there's no accounting for taste.
MASSIVE HIT OR NOT, RIDICULOUS SONG! (GOOD I MEAN, DOUH!) THIS IS EXCELLENT, IM LOOKING FOR THE LYRICS RIGHT NOW, PROBABLY EVEN MORE MEMORABLE AFTER I READ THEM, PERSONALLY THIS IS AN AWESOME SONG,THE DISCO REMIX VIDEO TOO
I don't agree with the criticism of Repo Men's ending, personally. I found the twist to be almost touching. That Jake was willing to indenture himself to The Union so that his best friend could live out his life in happiness is heart warming in it's own way.
i really wish i knew what this genre of music is. I love this grungy underground dark tone to music. The simplicity of the vocals and instrumentals...if anyone can tell me what to look for when it comes to the genre or some artists that do something along these lines, id be very grateful!
Oh cool, so I wasn't crazy after all! I remembered listening to another version of the song, but I could never find it anywhere and it wasn't a remix nor anything. It was this the version I heard so long ago
@hanzitatzi You can buy this off of iTunes on the Repo Men soundtrack. However, the full album I Am Not a Doctor (the album this song is in) isn't available in the U.S. version of iTunes. If you'd like the album, you could buy it off of eBay.
To shed some light on the debate over what the original version is: The one featured at this link ?v=S5IoMAZXr5M is also the one I have always known as the original (it was on my copy) and I didn't know other originals existed for years. They were both released at the same time, however for different regions. The one I linked however is the one Roisin described in interviews before the album came out (demon disco is how she described it) and was probably the "true" original, pre-release.
@Chimerathon I thought that the ending before the twist would have worked fine. It was a clever twist and everything but it's not what most people wanted to see.
Oh, The Mist is definitely another sad ending, but I feel that this one hurt the most because it's comparable to people trying to beat the system today through near impossible, and very desperate methods because of the government being unfair. And even after he's stuck in that dream space, thinking he succeeded, in the real world there are people going through the same thing he went through, although they might not be as lucky in surviving in a dream world, but may actually end up dead.
I remember this track as an original version of "Sing it back" song, and for me this sophisticated one is the best ever! Moloko, I'm still your fan!
This IS the original version. I also own the CD. I've been a fan of Moloko since 1995. I'm pretty confident in my statement.
Nice . Definitely the best since the origins
Heared it in the 'Repo Man' movie and instantly fell in love with it.
Who ever doubted you? Definitely the best version
