  • A very guitar driven song by Big Wreck out of new album "Ghosts"
    I only played the guitar part without the way effect as it's quite difficult to switch on and off without having a swell like the recording.
    Gears used
    Vintage Marshall JCM 800
    Gibson Les Paul standard '96
    Rio Grande pickups
    Marshall 4x12 cabinet with Vintage 30s
    FUJIFILM Finepix F600 EXR

    Great job! I'm trying to learn this one. The first time I heard this song on the new album, my jaw fell open during the solo section at the end. So epic! You did it justice here.

    Great job man, excellent cover! This is a song I never believed anybody would cover on youtube. So happy that you did! Really looking forward to your lesson as I really enjoyed your Million Days interpretation.

    Wicked stuff dude, I've been wanting to learn this one and your video will definitely help me figure out some of the crazier bits.
    I dig your taste in music - I've done up some Big Wreck covers myself, for Ladylike, the Oaf and All By Design. Ian Thornley is a crazy talented man.

    If ya get bored or something one of these days, would you mind doing a tutorial video on the solo?

      Thank you StratmanShane, I would definitely do that just like I did on "A Million Days" solo, split into 4 sections or so :)

    Great cover! I was just wondering if you had any tabs for the solo that you could pass on to me? I'm trying to learn the solo and it'd be really helpful if I had something to at least get me on the right track, thanks!

    Big Wreck fan and guitar player here... Some super great work bro!! I spoke to Mr. Thornley the last time he was here in Victoria BC and asked him if he would ever run out of such creative licks and he said,"I do, but you need to sit down and work it out when it comes to you. otherwise it is forgotten" I only have a couple vids up, check them out stapleton85monty.

    Holy shitsnacks dude. Nicely done.
    I think I've got it mostly figured out, but could you help me out with the basic underlying chords for the chorus? What are they?

    • @japocalypsezakk
      @japocalypsezakk  10 лет назад +1

      Thank you for watching the video! For the chorus it's just E major and B major. You hear the bass moving lots but chords aren't moving much. I just played bottom 3 strings and notes are 4,5, and 0(from 3rd to 1st string), for E. For B major I did 4,4 and 2 for B major which is B major triad. On their recording they have whammy/octave pedal to give 1 octave higher. This is just my interpretation, Ian Thornley himself doesn't play this way for the chorus.

      Yuj S Japocalypsezakk Maybe not the way Ian plays it, but it works, especially for a one-man performance. Thanks for the detailed explanation; you went above and beyond my question!

    I love this song so much. What is the tuning and tab for it?

    • @japocalypsezakk
      @japocalypsezakk  7 лет назад

      Blue in the Muse Hey thanks for a comment. Tuning is just a half step down on all the strings. I don't have any tabs as I just learn it the way that makes sense for myself...

  • @expson

    What is the tuning for the guitar ? is it in Eb ? Great job as well !!!!

      I have tab for myself which is very messy :) I have to write it better and share it with you all at the end of the tutorial video maybe?
