The Duke vs Ciminelli show is my favorite of all time. Unique format, great action and of course Norm Duke

I remember a match when Nelson Burton Jr. stated "A seemingly insurmountable lead" when a bowler made a major comeback. Can't remember who it was or what tournament, but the phrase has stuck with me.

Bowling is a crazy game. I am only a good bowler just coming back after not bowling for a while. I am on a match point league. I did good my first 2 games but started making bad mental game shots in the 3rd game. It wasn't till the 5th frame I got back in it with a strike now the guy I was bowling against really found the shot and I honestly thought I had lost my point so I hadn't given up I just wanted pins for my team. 5th to the 10th I struck out. Guy I was bowling against gave me a tiny opening by missing a 10 pin. I won my point by that one shot. I tend to not look at the score so I didn't know I won till the end lol.

Already gonna have to update this list with Ryan Barnes’s comeback on Sunday - 53 pins

I figured Haugen/Barnes was gonna be the biggest. I remember watching it live. 2000's Barnes was such a choke artist. He hung around long enough to be one of the all time greats, but for a while he was snakebitten.

I disagree on a "choke artist."
He always seemed to get bad breaks at the worst time.
During this match, however, I would agree that he underestimated the transition and probably considered that 10 pin to be a gimme, which on sport shots, they never are.

AJ v. Butturff was the wildest, most silly matches, but the Barnes v. Haugen one was most on theme here. Neither AJ nor Butturff should have won that match, it was rough. But in one game, anything can happen (and is both an argument for and against the format).

Barnes is a cheater. I'll never forget. He was down over 100 pins after the 3rd round of the us open and the oppenent wouldn't sign the score sheet because Barnes wrote down fake scores. The oppenent then left as he didn't make the cut either. Barnes threw a hissy fit with the tournament director and the director let the score fly. He'll always be a cheater in my book.
