What a groove...JV is king of rhythm man - no wonder the Fabulous T Birds had such a cool groove. Ya gotta love it when you play so selective, you got less room for mistakes.
Couldn't help but thinking from hearing the first bars; "that guitar's a tuff cookie even for a genius like jimmie". A tribute to the man he even makes THIS guitar talk. He's the rythm king. Luv'ya also Oh-Mar !!
Hi cynergistics....you're so right! Little brother Stevie Ray called Jimmie 'the best rhythm player I ever heard'. I saw the T'Birds in1980 and I will second that! Billy Gibbons is great, too. There's film of him on RUclips playing solo. There's a few guys - Kid Ramos, Steve Cropper, Rusty Zinn and others. My favourite was Robert Lockwood, alleged stepson of Robert Johnson. His best ensemble playing was with Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson. You probably know all this! Best wishes
@jayscott49 -you're welcome Jay. I'm just a fan myself but here in the UK people tend to go for the bluesrock stuff mostly so its always nice to find someone who appreciates the old school styles. Seen clips of the Rockpalast dvd and I'll check that `Big Town Playboy` cd too. Thanks.
@jayscott49 dont know who you are but just wanted to say I agree with every comment of yours that I've read. The early T-Birds are still the benchmark for any blues band.
I agree. Jimmy's guitar work here is oozing with that Eddie Taylor sound. Too cool.
Love this clip more, every time I watch it. Special mention for Wes Starr on drums with that 'unique' left hand grip, what a groove.

Without comparing, I dare say, Jimmie's a great, white Blues man...
Cest difficile de ne pas "tappé" du pied en écoutant ca!
I like jimmie's clean spare guitar style, but still plenty of feeling ..
Does anyone know what kind of guitar Jimmie is playing?? Cool Stuff by the way...........
@MrHogwash77 i keep thinking of getting one but they sound plinky
