What size (diameter) are the tires you are running? Any rubbing at full lock? I just installed the adjustable Icon front suspension and looking at some AT4 takeoffs on Marketplace. Would love to know what size tires will fit to max comfort/ride. THANKS in advance!!
@@richphippsgarage What kit did you use? It looks like Magdelete only sells in sets of 4 with a module that plugs into the OBD port. There is no mention of simulators for just the front. If you choose to keep rear air ride with Magdelete they include a set of non-magneride AC Delco rear air shocks. I have a Tahoe with magneride shocks that are starting to leak. Just trying to do some research to see what the best option is for replacement, not necessarily the cheapest. Your video has me thinking I might want to delete and go with the Fox option but I'm not crazy about modules plugged into the OBD port. Did you need an OBD module for your project? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
can you provide links for the shocks and the plug in adapters? Having a hard time fronting just the front set up. Even called Magdelete and they only sell all 4 with the OBD2 adapter.
Still have enough adjustment to get it back in alignment with the stock control arms now that its leveled? About to order all 4 corners Fox from magdelete to fix my Escalade for the 2nd time. First time replaced the magride, which are starting to fail again after 30k ish miles.
Just a quick suggestion for next time. When you lower it back on the ground, start it up and turn the wheel lock to lock to scrub them down (maybe even roll it back and forth a few feet) before you measure the height. It will take the pressure off the sidewalls and bring it down to actuall ride height. I have installed hundreds of leveling/lift kits on these (including this set up)
I'm fixing to do my 18 denali with Fox up front, keeping the air in the rear and replacing old. Also, upgrading both sway bars and links with the Hotchkis kit. Everyone saying the sway bars make a world of difference, especially if you tow anything.
Awesome job you guys! I have a 2017 YUKON XL DENALI. My tires are bigger I believe 20 or 22 inch factory. Can I just buy new 18" wheels and tires before buying this front strutts? or keep the bigger ones ? you mentioned in your video the 18" tire wheel combo is a better option? thank you
Have a 2016 escalade. I used the warranty I bought to fix thr shocks 3 times, all 4. Now my rears, which always seem to go first, have started up. Now my warranty is up and I want to put a 4-4.5 inch lift that won't push out my front wheels.
So I'm gonna assume that you did a complete delete and not just the front. The delete kit from the website allows you to keep air shocks in the back but still have to delete the magnaride.
@@richphippsgarage I understand the airshock portion but the rear are both airshock/magnaride. You can delete the magnaride while still keeping the airshock according to the website they'll send you AC Delco airshocks without the magnaride. If I'm wrong please let me know because I can't seem to find the relay/ plugs/switches to delete only the front. I only see the OBD2 plug that deletes both front and back
Honestly not sure.. I imagine that the sierras have a different spring rate due to the different weight distribution between the trucks and the suvs.. the difference between the fox shocks and the stock magnaride shocks is that the fox shocks are statically valved specifically for your application whereas the magnaride system uses a variable viscosity fluid to dynamically change the valving of the shock based on driving conditions which is susceptible to a number of system faults over time.
@@richphippsgarage thanks for the reply. Upon further research I think those will fit my Sierra they quiet pricey tho for the first time in 5 years have to replace parts on my Sierra not a big fan of lol
They for sure ride better than magnaride shocks that are no longer functioning correctly! I’m not sure how they compare to a new magnaride set up. We went with the Fox setup because they are less expensive and less prone to failure.
Great video, I’m looking into these for my 18 Escalade…idk about having it sit that high though, I’d definitely want it lower in the front & throw a lowering kit in the rear to even it out.
I should do this. I hate my factory 15 Tahoe LTZ setup. And you're not lying about 22"s. They are awful. I have Yokohamas on mine and it still rides awful.
Anyone who has installed these, if you can provide a little help I installed these and it did fine until wheel alignment then a squeaking noise developed and fox said to remove bar pin and regrease with lithium, did it but found that the teeth on bar pin are flattened and now the lower mount bolts down align with lower control arm and literally have to pull it into place with excessive force and squeaky noise still exist and fox is no help
You guys are spending way too much money for those parts. Never buy a strut assembly as the springs are different and that can effect your ride and height of the vehicle. 22" wheel and tire assemblies are not that hard to balance if someone is using a good balancer and knows what they are doing. Also not installing the factory magneride will lower your resale value for the vehicle.
Or increase its value to another owner like me, who goes off-road. 2015 and 2016 were apparently so bad they have a TSB for it. I’m in the market right now and one of the Denali’s I’m looking at has this fox strut on it. And I’d prefer it.
Oh and id probably agree with the difference in springs as well. Word to the wise, don’t police someone’s taste. It’s okay if someone does something different? Like I’d prefer the different spring. And in the case of the Lexus LX, when you switch out the hydraulic system for standard struts and shocks, you need different springs to account for loss of pressure coming hydraulically. There may (or may not) be a reason they use different springs. But you’re usually correct when it comes to more standard strut replacements, and should generally keep the spring rather than toss on some random aftermarket piece. But it’s fox. They’re probably fine and the way they are for a reason.
Trust me, I have a 2015 LTZ, and I HATE my 22"s and the magnaride. Plus, the average consumer is going to have ZERO idea that the magnaride has been deleted.
Can you please provide part number? Did you remove the uper c arm ball joint?

I'm also wondering this.
did you have to do a magneride sensor delete?
Yup. I don’t think we showed it in the video but the kit had some dummy resistors that plugged into the factory connectors.
Can we get a link?

Don’t you have to swap the arms and everything out because of the increased height from stock ?
Is this the same as the 2017 Chevy Suburban premier??
Can you provide more information on the mag delete upfront? Did the system still work in the rear? I don’t want lights on in the dash..

Do you think you could have fit a larger tire? Wondering if you think you could go all the way up to a 34”?
Did you have to adjust the strut before installation? Also, what simulator are you running?
What about the codes you get? Did you guys bypass it?
no codes, but a follow up video should be coming.
My suspensions is squeaking and noisy. Bought the same kit, are you havi g the same issue?
You need to replace your swaybar linkage

For sure. Adding or upgrading your sway bar will definitely add stability. Good luck!
How did truck ride with Non magna in front and Magna ride in back?

Thanks! Yeah swapping to the 18” wheels will soften up the ride due to the taller sidewall on the tire being better at absorbing bumps!
Is there a set up for the 2011 escalade?
Why didn't you take the inner fender out and remove the strut ?? Much faster
Well then it would’ve been too easy 😂.. lesson learned, next time that fender liner is coming out!
You could do this on an Escalade of the same year then right?
I believe the suspension is the same garbage magneride

I have a BellTech 2/4 drop on my RWD 2016 Escalade. What shocks would work best for my truck?
for anything lowered I would recommend QA1, but belltech has there own shocks that they recommend.

those trucks have maybe 3.08 gears , they are not towers ............ with 32" tires they should have at least 3.73 axle gears to be able to pull
That right front would have been easier if you remove the wheel well liner and go in from the side.
I have a bad habit of doing things the hard way! Next time that’s what I’ll do!
about to throw in some new TRQ magneride ones. when new they are incredible. so gotta disagree problem is they last 50k
