    I got my Private ticket in 40 hrs way back in nineteen hundred and seventy nine. I took my ground school at a community college that was taught by my instructor. You still got a hazing for your first solo back then. Tearing the back out of your shirt and hanging it up with your name. Being hosed down with ice cold water from a fire hose, or in my case, being carried down the hill from the air field and tossed in a small duck pond. After that check ride, find an aerobatics instructor and learn to fly out of unusual attitudes, inadvertent stalls and spins. It gives you confidence and makes you safer. Always strive for becoming a better pilot. Continued training is important. I found it easier and cheaper to obtain if you immerse your self in your local general aviation culture. Experienced Pilots love Neophytes. Go for ride in the right seat when you can.

    Congrats on the accomplishment! It's funny, I am operating very similarly as he said. I started your course in late 2019 and had my discovery flight in Late November 2019. I couldn't fly until June 2020 due to covid but as of today I have only about 12 hours flight time. Your school has been very helpful, and as you have said "it's best if done after someone has begun flight lessons." I totally agree with Lee and am experiencing the same thing "that landings are the most difficult to get the feel for." I have switched schools because I wasn't pleased with the degree of commitment to my progression and level of instruction I was experiencing at the first school. It forced me to take on a higher level of responsibility , however which has helped me a lot. I have even created an excell file and use it to journal all my flights and my training/progression. My goal is the same; to meet all the minimums prior to 40 hours and further develop my skills and get approved for my check ride at 40.0. I think with the right guidance anyone can do it. And sometimes the right guidance has to come from one's self. I will update as I progress. Thanks for sharing this great accomplishment!

    Great interview, great advise, have a plan before you start and stick to it. Find a flight school that has enough aircraft available, so you don’t loose time because of scheduling. I might add, interview your instructor and make sure your on the same page. Thanks again for posting this.

    I think the race to do it with the least amount of experience is setting up the wrong expectations. I see this all the time in aviation now and the number of fatal accidents appears to be growing. Make sure you get experience in all classes of airports, low elevation and high Elevation airports, towered and untowered, hot and cold flying, night and day, good weather, MVFR, crosswinds. You don’t need all that to pass a Checkride, but are you trying to become a proficient pilot or pass a test? I turned down a 10-day instrument program (with 90% pass rate) for this very reason. I don’t just want a certification.

    • @PilotInstitute
      @PilotInstitute 4 года назад +5

      I agree that you should be proficient rather than pass the test but I think you missed the point of this video. Ly did everything right. He studied, recorded his flights, paid attention, observed, was prepared for his flights, etc etc. This is why he was able to be proficient with 40 hours. Without all of this, it would have taken him more hours. More hours doesn't mean more proficiency. More hours could mean he was less efficient at meeting the requirements. He was not cutting corners, quite the opposite.

    • @alexs3187
      @alexs3187 4 года назад +1

      Pilot Institute that’s great if he is proficient in multiple scenarios. Maybe I did miss the point, which I thought was that he “got his license in 40 hours?” If your point was that he is proficient in just about any situation in 40 hours, then that’s amazing.

    • @LyTran
      @LyTran 4 года назад +1

      @@alexs3187 Hi Alex, I understand your point. It's not the race into lowest hours as possible but the race to be proficient as more efficient as possible. I found that being well prepared before every flight and review audio/video after every flight, makes it much more easy to recognize mistakes and improve it on my next flight.
      Learn as much as possible on the ground and practice them the air so you can have much practice time as possible. Having your CFI explain and repeat everything while flying is a waste of time. Also, many things learned on the aircraft are easily to forget because you're just a student, you're easily overwhelmed, lots of students don't review flight audio/video so they had no idea what they have missed during the flight and have to repeat the lesson on next flight.
      When I started, I did not set any goal into flight hours. At around 37 hours, my CFI decided to schedule a checkride for me saying I was ready, I didn't even ask.

      Your religion (and all other theistic cults) is entirely comprised of fabricated, pernicious beliefs, based on a bunch of cherry picked old documents consisting mostly of inconsistent, objectively false statements and forgeries.
      Please go calm yourself down, stop proselytizing, and keep your delusions to yourself and out of completely unrelated content like a crazy person. Let it all out in church or whatever other echo chambers you maintain an active membership in.
      No one who isn’t already religious is going to find your word vomit on a private pilot video and join your cult.

    If you use rudder ONLY, it will be a lousy turn yes, but won't the wings tip. For example, turning left will cause the left wing to tip down and the right wing to tip upwards.
    Is this true?

    • @TheFonzz61
      @TheFonzz61 4 года назад

      From what I’ve seen and noticed (I’m not a pilot but really want to be and will be taking classes soon) university gets you all the way to commercial rating and you graduate with a bachelors degree. However it takes of course much longer and your not only working on flying but regular course work as well in order to get a degree. Also much more expensive And regular school you just get a privates license.

    • @zeyadmohamedmahmoudelsayed9267

      I searched alot about the requirements for being a pilot in a major airline and all of them require a degree so local flight schools doesn’t get you anywhere,I’m I wrong?

    • @arttom9850
      @arttom9850 3 года назад

      @@zeyadmohamedmahmoudelsayed9267 yes and no. Major airlines require a degree, but it can be any degree it doesn't have to be in aviation. So you can be a philosophy major and still fly with an airline as long as you have your ATP. But if you are hoping to be an ATP Greg advises you to get your Class A medical right away, for a few reasons, one of which is to make sure you can actually get it, before you dump all the money into a program when you can't get the Medical Cert. But as far as the local flight schools, most are not affiliated with degree programs. Some junior colleges in my state of CA have associates degrees in Aviation and you can get your PPL and instrument ratings with the junior college and then more to a four year to get whatever degree you wanted to get.

    You getting it in the minimum hours does not tell me you're a very great pilot. Rushing through your training is not great

    • @PilotInstitute
      @PilotInstitute 3 года назад +12

      That's why there are standards set by the FAA. He met those standards in 40 hours, he did not *rush* through training. The fact he met the standards in the minimum amount of time proves he is a good pilot.

    • @blahblah9687
      @blahblah9687 7 месяцев назад +1

      Not everyone can afford all that extra time. If the minimum is 40 hours and you’re on a budget, 40 hours is the goal.
