That aside, Kuro also mentioned the political implications of hiring US talents so they hired British VAs to do American accent as the relationship with Europe is more amicable with China

I find it ironic that the NPCs have British accents, while main ones like Chixia,
Taoqi, and Encore have American ones despite their VAs being British as well.
I wouldn't say encore sounds inherently american, you can hear tons of british hints

Kuro is using a lot of the sames English VAs as R:1999 did but you can tell the difference in voice direction

It's because the voice director wasn't strict with the NPC's..
The director forced the main cast of VA's to imitate an American accent instead of letting them speak normally..

I felt like the first 4 characters that we meet all sounded so similar. Like it was one person just speaking with different levels of emotions.
In case if everyone doesn't know, Encore VA is also voicing Regulus from reverse 1999

Genshin Impact English dub was made in America while Wuthering Waves English dub was made in the United Kingdom.

I think the main problem that people have is that they were forced to use American accents rather then their normal accent so it feels a bit awkward...
The director should just let them speak with their natural accents. It always feels like they're being held back from properly emoting what they are saying because they're forcing themselves to speak in an American accent.

this game is very Xenoblade. The overworld, the infighting between the enemies, and the voices.
It's very xenoblade because of the out place random British accents.
Literally explains everything. I was looking at the dialog and listening to the voice acting and I'm like WHO TALKS LIKE THIS??! Sounds like a robot. Brits pretending to be Americans explains everything.

After the first day of wuwa's release, kuro games made an official statement that they had fired their voice director and were looking for another before future story patches! They listened! Changes were made ToT ToT.

If they voice a playable character in this game, I'm pulling that character. They could be bottm tier for all I care and I'd still pull.
Well there definitely are some Xenoblade VAs in the game already. Scar is Cammuravi, Encore is Fiora, Chixia is Vanea, Baizhi is Haze, Mortefi is Perdido, and Yinlin is Sheba and Obrona.
Okay but how does this explain Chixia and Yanyang? I switch off English as soon as I started the game after hearing them, their accents are absolutely not any kind of British I've ever heard, and I'm English.
Poor voice direction is best I can really say. Either that or sound mixing.
They recorded one take for the entire game and when they wanted to record more they ran out of time.

critiques aside the only voiced part I actually enjoyed was Aalto`s and Encore`s part during the main history the voice mixing despite not being good the music build up really helped the scene
If there's anything that Xenoblade has taught me it's that we should try to give English voice actors a chance, who knows maybe it could be funny bad

I feel like Kuro Games is going for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 approach with the english dubbing (having a mix of British and American VAs)

Taoqi is the only character I refuse to touch until they redo her voice lines and *pick a damn accent* for her. It’s less noticeable with the other characters, but I genuinely can’t tell if she’s meant to sound American, British or Australian. I can’t listen to her voice in the story let alone in combat all the time.

i absolutely agree with some of these comments - they shouldve just let them speak with their british accent. the moment i heard Taoqi speak i thought 'her VA must be british' so i did some research and she is. and it really annoys me. same goes for Encore ofc and a couple more characters. i do not understand. english doesnt boil down to american accent. its actually just annoying because it stands out so much and my immersion is ruined

The NPC sounds soo good than the mojority of the playabe characters. Just let the VA's speak on their native accents.
I can understand them wanting the english to be as neutral as possible so people who are not native speakers can understand. My first language is spanish but can understand british and american, so isnt an issue for me. What i find funny is that only main/playable characters recieve this treatment. Every other character speaks in british, and use such a strong accent at times.

EN voice sucks in wuwa, its not the actors at fault tho, it's the clueless directors and localizers. They basically told the actors to say a line without context and just guess what tone and emotions to use. Good thing i play on JP dub, quality as always.

Honestly this is hilarious to hear, not bad, but just different. Personally stick with JP because hearing Yui Ishikawa, the gacha game VA Queen as YangYang is ASMR to my ears.

@@BiancoIsleDelfino The anime style makes it more cohesive and let's be honest the quality in the JP dub is only rivaled by the original, the EN problem isn't so much about the accents but about the quality.

Aside from optimization, localisation has got to be the worst thing in WuWa so far.
I understand and play with CN voice, but I use EN subtitles, and holy shit, they literally say different dialogues like half the time.
Remember the moment Changli's name appeared after being ??? in Jinhsi's dialogue? The EN dialogue doesn't even mention the name while the CN voice went "I understood / Yes, Changli" (something like that, i forgor) before turning from ??? Into "Changli" being displayed in the text box
Other than those 2, the game's great

Nope, that's misinformation spread by some youtuber. Cyno's VA cleared that on twitter.
I have not blamed VA's. The game has many isssues with audio. Audio mixing for game is bad.
I don't mind the accent or voices really. I just don't get the sound quality on some chars, feels like they didn't have a 'de-esser'
I honestly was amazed the first time I heard those npcs w/ british accents, I would love to hear some natural british lines in game coz like what the other guy commented, the lines were american, but the VA is brit, still I love it.
