When drilling through wood, to avoid the tear out on the bad side, as you put it, clamp a piece of scrap wood under the primary piece and when the drill bit comes out the other side, the scrap piece will prevent the tear out. Always apply the white plumbing silicone tape on the threads in a clock wise manner, for a right hand thread, counter clock wise for a left hand thread. That way when you screw on the other fitting, the silicone tape will not be torn of but will remain in place. All the best. Dave & The Girls

Hey everyone! 🌞 So happy to know everyone is enjoying the van renovations. Thank you to everyone who has left a comment of inspiration and tips or advice- we appreciate you! This week we had a few set backs but nothing we can’t handle 💪🏽 Have a great week pack! 🐾
Ladies, thank you so much for sharing your honest adventures with us. We all feel your frustrations and wish we could help. You bring us all such joy and happiness through your videos and would love to be able to do something for you. You are both so very positive and upbeat and we hope you find your mojo to push through the challenges. Also, focus on all the successful things you have accomplished instead of the few temporary, albeit, bigger mishaps that you encounter. Much love from Florida!
Really enjoying your content. The DIY frustrations we all have. You have done an amazing job and just got unlucky with the wood. You'll do it faster second time - thats the good news! x
Aww u cuties, your doing a fab job. Remember to take a moment and just look at ur hard work. I'm currently building a solo van build, nearly finished. It's the same size as yours LWB with shower, bed, storage, seating, heating, oven etc. It's hard work and sometimes u do have to start over. This is my first project, I've never built anything before or used these tools but I'm learning on the go. Just think, u built this, u both were brave enough to believe in yourself to give it a go and you can only get better. Give urselves a hug and you can do it! 💕😁💪 You both have already shown your strength in what u do every day, so this is easy. Try not to rush and take ur time. It is frustrating to go slow as u want to finish but it's gonna be great. 👍😁
Thank you for the reminder. You’re so right 💛 Wow! Kudos to you! Wow! We are impressed! You have the right attitude that will get you to the finish line! Thank you for the inspiration.

Your brave girls for tackling that plumbing it’s intimidating for most people iam a jack of all trades retired now but one step at a time and you will do it good luck
Tip: when drilling a hole with a spade drill bit you can avoid the hole on the opposite side from splintering by drilling until the center of the spade bit just starts to come through on the opposite side/stop & turn wood over/ place the center of the spade drill bit in the hole on the opposite side & drill. The result should be like the first side you drilled (no splintering)..Good luck! I'm so sorry for the problems you're having but it's really good experience. I do not know if anyone has said this yet, but with the paddle drill bits (like you showed when drilling the larger holes in the countertops) when the tip of the bit comes through the other side stop drilling and flip the wood over and use the pilot hole to line up your bit and finish your hole from the back side so you do not have to worry about having the big splinters ripped out of the unseen side of the wood. By the way you two have done an awesome job with the work you have done on your van and cabin.
Oh la la..the highs and lows of a van renovation .. I know that everything works out.. eventually...it always does...but when it is all complete.. it will all be worth it... Happy Happy and stay positive...as always!! 🌞
I’ve got a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Im certified electrician, plumber, and heat transfer, mainly in world wide oil and gas industry. And I gotta say you gals impressed me. The only thing I would have done differently is separate the water tank into 2 sections, 1 on either side of the van to redistribute the weight more evenly.. but then I don’t know the van weight distribution so I would take your advice over mine. Great job ladies 💕
Very nice ladies. You can be proud of the work your doing, it looks great. Anyone who has done a DIY project knows mistakes get made and bad words follow. You have shown that learning from your mistakes is part of the job. Keep a positive attitude and stay safe and warm.
The build is a daunting task and I admire your can do attitude! Sure, mistakes happen. Anyone who has built anything will tell you that. But, you two are gaining more knowledge and confidence all the while! If there is a problem down the road, you will be able to fix it and move along. I appreciate how real you two keep it!
Push to fit connectors are amazing! Been using them for years. They don't like being bent too much, and plastic pipes often need an insert put into the end to keep them rigid and leak-free. but so quick to put together.
@@Vanwives They go inside the end of the pipe to make it more rigid, helping to keep it perfectly round so that the O-ring in the fitting can make a good seal. They look like little tubes, with a flange on one end. Not necessary on every pipe, but if there are any leaks and you don't know why then inserts might help!
Crystal can build most things she is very talented. You guys well be able to hit the road soon.Although the Canadian winter is on the way.both of you brighten up our Sunday and the week ahead. Thanks for that.🚲⛏🔌🧰🇨🇦
This will be me in a about 3 years. I see those van builds videos and think to myself...yeah that is not going to be me...I will make a LOT of mistakes and buy the wrong stuff. Spend half the time looking for my tools, feel like throwing said tools...cry in a corner...jump for joy when the piece i scribed and had to cut 5 times finally fits...etc. so watching you guys makes me feel like I am watching a REAL diy van build...refreshing. will make you enjoy the fruit of your labor even more. Stay strong ladies and listen to your gut, recharge the vanwives batteries when needed with a small hike or quick escapade (not a trip to HD though lol)
You two are way to cute young cute and adorable to go down with stress🤗 . Take the time to take an extra breath, relax, drink a beer or two- stout or porter are perfect to make one releax, it works on me every time😉. Hey I'm the only one of us three who're old to be senile confuse😂 Take good care and see you next week 👍😍💐
Stay positive girls! Renovations never go as planed. I am amazed at your skills and ability to do a project like this! Push forward and I know you two will do it!!
Quick tip: when drilling enlarged holes with a hole saw, spade bit, or forstner bit, drill half way or until the bit first breaks through the other side then flip it and drill the other side. Results in a clean hole on both sides. Hope that makes sense. *edit* wood glue would take care of that counter split if you haven’t already done that or abandoned it. Van building is hard! I’m over 200 hours into mine and I still have a ways to go. Stick with it! Y’all are champs!
OMG I actually cried for you two - BUT you two have taught me to look on the bright side, find the silver lining SO keep persevering as I know you two will - next weeks vlog will be the success I know you'll have.
Keep your heads up girls, your doing GREAT!! Not everything always go without a hitch, it’s a learning curve. See you next Sunday! Say hello to Bella & Izzy!! 🐾

Oh no! I'm glad it all came together in the end. We got very over our rebuild very quickly, but it's still worth it! Hope you're back on track now...🤞🌻🌻🌻
Vanwives I just rewatched your last video and noticed something that I wanted to mention. I know that your installing a new water supply tank and will be making a lot of water connections. One thing you might want to keep in mind is when your wrapping them with white teflon tape you should always wrap them in a clockwise motion starting from the end and working your way down with every turn, the reason that I’m saying that is when you screw on any adaptors you will be turning them clockwise so as you tighten them you are pressing them on for a better seal where if you had wrapped the tape counter clockwise as you tighten it up the nut will try to peel off the tape and of course you don’t want that it could cause a leak. Just something to try and remember. It’s simple but an important step. If you have any questions just ask I’m here if you need anything. I used to own many apartments over the years and I was always replacing hot water tanks and furnaces in my units sinks etc. so I have a lot of experience in electrical and plumbing. Again good luck with your upgrades just remember to have fun and it looks like you are on your videos I’m going to watch all of them to your done I’m rooting for you and looking forward to how things come out. Louie IL 🇺🇸 USA
Yea for Laurie to the rescue with the Doritos! You're doing a much better job at it than I would be doing. I usually have to make at least 6 or 7 trips to Home Depot to get all the parts for one project. I think you two are doing an amazing job, minor setbacks and all. You ladies are awesome!👩❤️👩
After 100 years my cute sisters is back🔥🔥🔥 miss you a lot ....let's go 👍👍👍❤️ lots of love from Kerala,India..I am waiting to celebrate our 100k subscribers. 🎉
Thanks for the video I just got a camper and wanted to redo it inside Just the thought of it was overwhelming to at first but after seeing your videos and some of the things you done inside of the van has helped me come up with a few ideas you guys are amazing keep up the great work
In order to salvage the counter top, you should use a doweling jig to place a dowel or two in each of the three splits. Along with an ample portion of wood glue and clamping, the joints will be just as strong as before. Besides, the frame below is the support structure holding everything level, anyway. Another quick pointer, do not attempt to wipe away any excess glue that oozes out of the cracks as it only smears and likely will not take paint or varnish, etc. When it dries, it becomes brittle and will pop right off leaving no trace with very little effort.
When drilling large holes, it's a good idea to drill a small pilot hole through the material then drill your large hole from both sides to prevent tear out on either side.. The large holes may not meet perfectly in the middle but in most instances the 2 mm or so offset won't matter. Keep on hanging in there & above all stay safe! ❤️
Whenever I see you guys I always say out loud " if you put your mind to it anything is possible". And that is you ladies, it describes you both to a T. Keep going ❤❤❤❤❤
A solution for your broken counter top... It was a pretty clean break. Get a 5 mm sheet of plywood - glue it to the bottom and clam it back together. You will never know it broke and the plywood will give it the strength.
Sending you girls a big virtual hug!! Keep at it, in the end it will be so much more rewarding when you are done. But yes, take a break and regroup, BUT DO NOT QUIT! I love your channel and who you are, keep on shining.
Hey, Jaz and Crystal you learned a lot of woodwork, electrical stuff and plumbing. Learning by doing is the best way to get things done and you did a great Job 😁 😎 ✌. Good luck to you and your Camper van conversion and give Bella and Izzy treats for there patience. 😁✌😷stay safe.
Just a note about putting large holes in your counter tops or any wood without damaging the other side, when you drill the top or good side using a large spade drill bit just drill until the center tip of your drill bit just starts to come through then flip the counter over and put the tip of your spade drill bit in the small center hole as a guide and carefully drill through and stop when the large hole is complete and you will end up with a nice clean hole without any damage on either side of your wood or counter. Good luck 👍 your project is looking great 👍

When your drilling holes in your counter, drill from the top till the point of the bit comes thru the bottom, then drill from the bottom up and it won't splinter again

Remember what our ancestors did with hand tools and patience . Slow and steady wins the race . Measure twice cut once . Love your videos and determination ! Keep it going .
@@Vanwives you can use your speed square as a guide with your circular saw to cut perfect 90°angles . Or a straight edge clamped to board to make longer perfect cuts . Have fun and think safty first . And watch out for the saw blade getting pinched and kicking back .
I said it last week and i'll say it again, you are doing an amazing job, really incredible and and inspiration to all. Shame about the broken part and the errors made but these things are here to test us all. Heads up you really are incredible :)
Great Job! Just a suggestion - If possible, your watertank vent pipe should go outside the van. Unless it has a one way valve, it will leak if overfilled, or when driving as the water sloshes back and forth. I'm sure you already thought of this, but just in case!. I love the big sink!.

💛💛 you’re right! We needed you leading the vlog this week ;)
When your using the circular saw you never wanna cut in between the two saw horses; it’ll bind up everytime
Thank you for the tip!
Very nice ladies. You can be proud of the work your doing, it looks great. Anyone who has done a DIY project knows mistakes get made and bad words follow. You have shown that learning from your mistakes is part of the job. Keep a positive attitude and stay safe and warm.
I love the content you guys inspire me
💛💛
The build is a daunting task and I admire your can do attitude! Sure, mistakes happen. Anyone who has built anything will tell you that. But, you two are gaining more knowledge and confidence all the while! If there is a problem down the road, you will be able to fix it and move along. I appreciate how real you two keep it!
You’re so right! Appreciate your positivity! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for all the effort you two put into sharing your lives!
I'm excited for this project! Also, I love how much you two love one another 🖤
💛💛💛
YES THE WIFE WITH THE PONYTAIL SHE IS ALWAYS LOOKING AT HER WIFE AS IF SHE CAN'T KEEP HER HANDS OFF. YOU SEE THE LOVE
Push to fit connectors are amazing! Been using them for years. They don't like being bent too much, and plastic pipes often need an insert put into the end to keep them rigid and leak-free. but so quick to put together.
Thanks for the tips! What are the inserts? We haven’t been told about those?
@@Vanwives They go inside the end of the pipe to make it more rigid, helping to keep it perfectly round so that the O-ring in the fitting can make a good seal. They look like little tubes, with a flange on one end. Not necessary on every pipe, but if there are any leaks and you don't know why then inserts might help!
If I told my wife she was good at doing dishes we would end up on a COPS episode.
hahaha!!
Don't loose heart ladies. When at first you don't succeed............ Thanks for another good start to my week. x
Try try again 🌞 Thank you for joining us each week!!
I'm so inspired by you two! Sending so much love 😘♥️💕
💛💛💛
Crystal can build most things she is very talented. You guys well be able to hit the road soon.Although the Canadian winter is on the way.both of you brighten up our Sunday and the week ahead. Thanks for that.🚲⛏🔌🧰🇨🇦
Thank you!
My heart dropped for you when you said you left the piece at the hardware store.. did you get it back?
We did we did! Thank gosh. It had our strainer & everything for the pump. Thanks for checking in
This will be me in a about 3 years.
Haha you got that right! A very real build week 😂 you’ll learn a lot though! Hahaha no more hardware stores
We like the way you think 😉 thank you!
@@Vanwives Oh! Thanks a lot sweeties, you're very welcome if you ever ends in Denmark 🤗😍
It took me a while, but I'm binge watching all your content after first seeing you on videos from Max & Lee
You ladies are doing fine when you start feeling frustrated step back maybe go on a walk and then come back you can do it
Thank you for the reminder! 💛 we needed it
No have beer instead.
Stay positive girls! Renovations never go as planed. I am amazed at your skills and ability to do a project like this! Push forward and I know you two will do it!!
Thank you Sean!! Have a great week 😃
So when you putting a super charger on your engine 😂🤣
Hahaha! Now that would be something
Thank you!
Wow! Good for keep on it! Proud of you!

Keep your heads up girls, your doing GREAT!! Not everything always go without a hitch, it’s a learning curve. See you next Sunday! Say hello to Bella & Izzy!! 🐾
You’re right about that. We’re learning so much. They say hello 💛🐾🐶
Hello you two . I'm impressed that you're just throwing yourself into converting a car into a camper. Your skills as a craftsman are impressive. I like that. Greetings from Denmark 👍
You built it before, you can build it again 😊 You both were just exhausted. Take some rest. Health is Wealth 🥰 You both can do it ❤️ We're excited to see you new HOME 💗
You’re right 💛 thank you!!
Oh no! I'm glad it all came together in the end. We got very over our rebuild very quickly, but it's still worth it! Hope you're back on track now...🤞🌻🌻🌻

I just rewatched your last video and noticed something that I wanted to mention.

So kind thank you Robert!! Just the inspiration we needed. Hope you’re having a great week!!
After 100 years my cute sisters is back🔥🔥🔥 miss you a lot ....let's go 👍👍👍❤️ lots of love from Kerala,India..I am waiting to celebrate our 100k subscribers. 🎉
Thanks for the video
I just got a camper and wanted to redo it inside
Just the thought of it was overwhelming to at first but after seeing your videos and some of the things you done inside of the van has helped me come up with a few ideas you guys are amazing keep up the great work
In order to salvage the counter top, you should use a doweling jig to place a dowel or two in each of the three splits.
Don’t worry girls you’re get it right we’re all with you
Thank you Peter!!
Ahhh! Thank you! 💛
Whenever I see you guys I always say out loud " if you put your mind to it anything is possible". And that is you ladies, it describes you both to a T. Keep going ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the 💛 Michelle
@@Vanwives more than welcome and Happy Thanksgiving. See you Sunday xxxx
A solution for your broken counter top... It was a pretty clean break. Get a 5 mm sheet of plywood - glue it to the bottom and clam it back together. You will never know it broke and the plywood will give it the strength.
You two are ambitious and willing to learn by doing, something many will never do. Hats off to the both of you.
Sending you girls a big virtual hug!! Keep at it, in the end it will be so much more rewarding when you are done. But yes, take a break and regroup, BUT DO NOT QUIT! I love your channel and who you are, keep on shining.
Thank you 🤗🤗 we appreciate the positivity! Keeps us going!
Thanks for keeping it real with us. See you next Sunday.
See you then Kathi!
Such positivity thank you thank you thank you 🙌🏼😃
Take it easy. DIY is not easy. Story was beautifully done.
Stay safe.
Good luck 👍 your project is looking great 👍
Yes!! Fantastic advice thank you Louie!! 🙌🏼

You ladies are trying and trying to make your build work. You both can do it!! Cheers to you both for even trying to do it. I pray you get it done. 😁
Thank you! Us too 💛
When your drilling holes in your counter, drill from the top till the point of the bit comes thru the bottom, then drill from the bottom up and it won't splinter again
La casa va quedando Ffffantástica. No hace falta decir cuánto disfruto del contenido, despertarme así de temprano un Domingo lluvioso habla por sí mismo. Espero pronto puedan seguir encontrando esos tesoros secretos. ¡PURA VIDA!
Gracias 🙌🏼🙌🏼
You two are so cool. Your preference for experiences over things is exciting and admirable. I am twice your age, maybe more, and my generation was groomed to accumulate things and we did - really did. Now I am old and could not care less about the things but I recall my experiences. Raising my daughter, travel to many countries (for my business), etc. Carry on ladies, you have captured such a great lifestyle.
You Girls are so positive, even if it doesen't always work out the way you wan't IT and that's exactly why I'm chasing you 😄👍! With your Love and Optimism you can do anything. A tight hug from afar 🥰🐾
Thank you for the positivity 💛
Sorry things are going so tough. But it will be awesome when it's done and it'll be an improvement over the old design. Take a break, mellow out and then you can finish it with less stress. Great video and build. Good luck and stay healthy!
Thank you for watching and for commenting 🌞
Way to go Ladies..I am taking two weeks off to recharge...you will get it done..your doing a fine job, showing us the ups and downs of construction ..big hugs from Prince Rupert BC

Yes!! Norm you’re right!
Hello ladies! Stuff happens, but it’s how you react to it. You both handle you mistakes with grace.
You are doing great with the knowledge you have , wish I could pass on the tricks I know in construction to help you . Hands on is the only way . Remember what our ancestors did with hand tools and patience . Slow and steady wins the race . Measure twice cut once . Love your videos and determination ! Keep it going .
It’s the thought that counts. Thank you George 💛
@@Vanwives you can use your speed square as a guide with your circular saw to cut perfect 90°angles . Or a straight edge clamped to board to make longer perfect cuts . Have fun and think safty first . And watch out for the saw blade getting pinched and kicking back .
Seeing such incredible smiles and enthusiasm for life makes me smile too.
Awww!!! That’s the best!!
I said it last week and i'll say it again, you are doing an amazing job, really incredible and and inspiration to all. Shame about the broken part and the errors made but these things are here to test us all. Heads up you really are incredible :)
Thanks for the positivity Rob 💛
Missed yas last week. So good to see those smiling faces and the furbabies and Grams aka Laurie. 🤗 have a great week.👍🙏🏻😎
Welcome back! 🌞 have a great week!
Great Job! Just a suggestion - If possible, your watertank vent pipe should go outside the van. Unless it has a one way valve, it will leak if overfilled, or when driving as the water sloshes back and forth. I'm sure you already thought of this, but just in case!. I love the big sink!.
Ahhh! Thank you!! Can’t wait to do this dishes 😂
