Rothery is amazing. Comes up with the most melodic solos with so much feeling. One of my favourite guitarists. Not super fast but he shows you don't need to be. Plays for the song.
Guys play fast because they can’t stand out without technique. Give me Rothery or David Gilmour, Brian May or Eric Clapton. Stevie Ray Vaughn (RIP). They could make the guitar sing.
Listen up kids... if you ever want to play guitar, you should begin to listen to solos like this... Here we have EVERY ingredient for not only a great solo, but a guitar solo that will pass through centuries being one of the most heavenly melodies ever made.
Absolutely. Technically and techniques are important, but melody, phrasing and musicality are more important. This solo teaches flawless phrasing and harmony.
Ŧạŧŧië Bø JạñglëƧ Amen. e Steve Rothery is a guitar God. No body and I mean no body plays with more emotion and feeling as Steve. This solo is mind blowing.
One of the best guitar 🎸 solos ever - Ritchie Blackmore is my all time hero but this is up there with anything he has done. Steve Rothery can shred he can play hard and he can play extremely smoothly but whatever he does you know instantly that it is him playing and that he is never going to miss a note . Fantastic song from an equally fantastic band
I've not seen another band that lays so much out there every night. I saw them do this song 2 weeks ago in DC, and it was equally as amazing. One of my favorites.
the guitar solo makes the song.he has the talent of not needing to play flashy or play too many notes.dare i say that is the best strat solo ever??!.sorry comfortaly numb fans
One of their most beautiful songs. This is a personal favourite. It may be about Ireland but it really enhances any drive through Scotland which of course Marillion is greatly associated with. It sounds obvious but as I prefer hearing Fish singing say Kayleigh I can't imagine anyone replacing Steve on Easter.
What a emotional song now on this easter 2020. Many times I remember with Marillion, when I was at many gigs. Now I must stay home and enjoy Easter with a tear [ not from the Jester :) ] Thank you Marillion.
What is all this Fish v Hogarth crap. It would be a very boring world if we all had the same taste. I like both. This is truly awesome. Steve Rothery fantastic.
my lord what song--saw them in the 80's at toads place in ct---saw them about 28 years later in Washington dc--a little pudgier but still great...........
Steve Rothery is that truly rare guitarist that understands nuance. He can make the guitar absolutely sing, and yet he knows how to let his solos…..breathe. He can play things that are technically more challenging, but I never get the sense that he’s overplaying. With Marillion, and Steve especially, the song always come first. It can take a guitarist a lifetime to truly understand that the notes you don’t play are every bit as important as the ones you do. A mature musician understands that technique without feel is utterly worthless. Restraint isn’t sexy, but it is so important. I liken Steve Rothery to David Gilmour in that regard. They have absolutely mastered the six string. Both men are brilliant musicians. Virtuosos. And I, for one, am so utterly thankful to live in a world where Marillion and Pink Floyd, with their incomparable guitarists, exist.
Great's of the music, I know one thing when you get better , when you get the best at what you do you get into a very small elite. These guys are in a small elite! Respect!
Show de bola!!!!!!
It's A Blessed Gift.. Amen. Easter Ain't About Fekin Chocolate Fertility Eggs!?? Blessed Are The Peace Makers.. RIP Matin McGuiness And Ian Paisley. All The Fallen maimed And Bereaved. Love From A Brit Living In Ireland 18years On.. Enjoy Easter And Its True Essence.. Shalom. I was Blessed To Have Ran A Motorcycle ROCK BAR! This Track Blasted Out From The Saloon Doors on Many Occasion. When Things Got a Lil To Hellishly OTT! Spirit Of The Hospitaller.
Rothery is one of the most underrated Players there is.
Rothery leaves a grown man in tears
for musicians this song is 3/4, 6/8, and ends in 5/4 frikin masterpiece
Rothery is amazing. Comes up with the most melodic solos with so much feeling. One of my favourite guitarists. Not super fast but he shows you don't need to be. Plays for the song.
As a guitarist myself its definitely not about playing fast... "The Old Man Of The Sea" is proof of this
Guys play fast because they can’t stand out without technique.
Give me Rothery or David Gilmour, Brian May or Eric Clapton. Stevie Ray Vaughn (RIP). They could make the guitar sing.
Reminds me of Hackett in that sense.
Exactly. He's like gilmour as he doesn't have to play fast at all!
"Doesn't need to be" never a smarter thing said dude.

Basic guitar solo with bit of floyd guitar sound etc
@@Colin-ro6lhThe kids today wish that they could convincingly play this basic and be equally brilliant and composed at the same time.
This old 1990 live recording of Easter is the best of all - IMO.
Deffo!
Agree
Yep
one of the best songs ever, mystic.
Ŧạŧŧië Bø JạñglëƧ Amen. e Steve Rothery is a guitar God. No body and I mean no body plays with more emotion and feeling as Steve. This solo is mind blowing.
after twenty years I hear this song, I get excited like a child at Christmas ... when opening gifts .... this song is a gift ....
+AlessioPagnoniDrum there are a few songs by marillion that i simply can't get rid of as well :))
when the solo comes in,,, i can;t stop the cry
Season's end is really a great album from the Hogarth period... I've rediscovered it weeks ago and I can't stop listen to it!
This version is pure gold. Gives me chills! Something about the old recordings that give you that warmth, charm, and everything around it!
the most beautiful solo ever !!!😎👍
Can´t agree more!
It is great, but Andy Latimer and Steve Hackett can match it with some of theirs (Stationary Traveller, Ice, For Today, Fiirth of Fifth).
Fuck, kids today will never know. And not a phone in sight. Just hands up. The 90's rocked. So happy to have grown up then.
I was a kid when I first hear this song, and it wasn't 30 or 40 years ago, it was ~15. so yeah, kids can know about great underrated hits too
One of the best guitar 🎸 solos ever - Ritchie Blackmore is my all time hero but this is up there with anything he has done.
Steve Rothery can shred he can play hard and he can play extremely smoothly but whatever he does you know instantly that it is him playing and that he is never going to miss a note .
Fantastic song from an equally fantastic band
I was lucky enough to see them on this tour back in 1990 - they were great!
I cannot get over the fact that this song gives me chills EVERY SINGLE TIME I listen to it! What a masterpiece.
The tone of Steve...pura belleza.
❤❤❤Steve Rothery is amazing. Greetings Dirk Belgium
I've not seen another band that lays so much out there every night. I saw them do this song 2 weeks ago in DC, and it was equally as amazing. One of my favorites.
This is such a great song and the best ever solo by Steve Rothery.
steve's solo gives me hope about human race!

Incredible voice, incredible guitar solo, underated band....
Absolutely amazing! True piece of art! One of the best songs i have ever listened to.
this never bores me
The Song of my life, makes me happy..... brilliant
So love that song and that SOLO!!
Me too
I was there!
A truly great song, i still believe Rothery is one of the great guitarists in the world today
Saw them on this tour. Bloody magic night.
best song ever, my favorite since 1989; heard them live at Cologne 2014 ... incredible.
Such an underrated bass player!
When I saw the band live I realized how important is Pete's contribution to their music. It wasn't so obvious in the records.
So true. He was playing that and singing backing vocals. Quality player
Agree.
'Versatile' is a word I'd use !
Edit - He could do with a bit of a haircut in this video, mind
@@josephclarke645 - and playing bass pedals too :)
what a guitar solo from Rothery in middle of song
It's 2020 and this should be made viral!
amazing song...amazing solo....amazing vocals!
Fabulous song and guitar work!
Fantastic performance by the whole band: loved it! Rothery is so good!
An utter masterpiece!! Rothery is a guitar God!!
SUPERB!!! What a great band, sounds exactly the same as the studio recording.
Love the groovy dancing. Man does the song. One of my Rothery favourite solos of all time. That and Emerald Lies and Runaway Girl
I want a CD of nothing but Steve Rothery's solos. Marillion make some of the greatest music I've ever heard. Love them.
Mille merci pour ce partage ❤
Steve Rothery is a legend..
Wonderful stuff. Amazing performance.
Audience loving it, and not a phone in sight!
At 3:23...that just does it for me, you know Steve is gonna go for it and he does every time with style and passion - god bless you sir.
I think this is the best song they have written. So moving.

No me cansaría de escuchar esta canción...
That bass is growling! It makes the solo punch even harder

Pete's backing vocals are incredible on this one.
This IS the quintessentiallive version of EASTER.
All this sounds are coming directly from God.

I broke up with them in 1988, you know why... 😢 now I'm coming back and discover a new Marillion 👍

Banda incrível, músicos fantásticos !!!!
I saw them on this tour just outside of stoke and they were amazing!
Muuuuito foooodaaaa!!!!
saw them in 1991 in Berlin, Tempodrom... unforgettable !
I love the way I have yet to see the red on the thumbs down meter even register on anything by Marillion.
