Les Ismore. He's making a comeback! I like the red version of the SH bc it has that wet dry mix and I'm not habitually bussing everything out. (Also the mono-maker) I guess as a final mix bus most people want 100, but I still like to do it to taste. Does anybody know if there are any relavent differences btw red and green, besides the extra options at the bottom?

I thought I was the only one using 1/2 db of gain reduction on the SHMC. Everyone else I’ve seen using it went to 3 or 4 db like an SSL style mix bus compression, but now I know my ears wasn’t tripping 🙏🏼✨
Well if you’re using it on a mix bus, I think 3 to 4 is pretty reasonable. On a master bus, I also almost never go past 2db on the optical because it starts pumping.
@@breezyoakk But don't you think processing should be done on the mixbus rather? Some master busses like that in pro tools are post fader, any adjustments made to the fader can affect the plugins especially compression.. I'd rather stack up multiple compressors for compression and colour if there's a need. But anyway music is dynamic. Do what works for you you.. ✊🏾

My point is that of course they will tell you that you should use UAD, which means that this information is suspect, it's biased.
@@antiHUMANDesigns Why do you think it is biased? It is up the the end user to decide. They just present their product, it's up to you to decide and listening if it something you like and would like/love to use in your mix. People tend to ask for "the best of the best of the best", but in the end they sure hell don't know how to use it, so a 1$ or a 399$ plugin would probably won't make any difference.
Standard question I see everywhere is "What is the BEST" plugin you can get... The answer is :
There is no best, it is what you make it to sound that makes it the best. Question you should ask yourself, what are you looking for, what is you aim for that sound/mix... do you really need to slap that 600$ compressor, limiter, EQ on you sound/mix, or is it only because you heard it is good, and you load it up in the chain and think that will do?
Shadow hill is a great processor.. But RUclips won't make you hear the difference really. >
And yes this might sound biased to but, UAD do make quality plugins, but I also use FREE plugins that works magic on certain sounds/combos whatever.

If these software emulations actually sounded like a real shadow hills compressor, the hardware makers would not allow them to sell plugin versions of it...

all the plugins i dont own. sometimes it sucks
try some analog obsession compressors, they're free. i like buster, kolin, and britpressor on mixbus. i even used the old TDR molot on mixbus recently. compressor-wise, in my opinion, the only real step up from what's already available to you ITB would be hardware. i doubt your money would be well spent on any further plug-ins.

I’m listening to this on the phone and I can’t hear a difference. I’m sure if I was in my studio with monitor if I could hear a difference it’s just good to know because most people are listening to music on phones nowadays

could not really hear that much difference between the transformers on my monitor setup. It's probably more pronounced in the original format, but not lossy compression from RUclips.
I think it's BAD to know that people are listening on their phones!! .... and sad.
