    Loving it. There are still people insisting on taking a diagonal runup, which makes the hips open easily in the reach back but it's very hard to open them to the target. That's why they need to crank them open with the lower back. I got a big backlash saying this in my video. They didn't listen to me, so I hope they believe you.

      I think some people train themselves to make this work, and maybe they resolve these issues in their throw. I know Joel Freeman and Logan Harpool do this, and they aim for more of a "controlled griplock" for more power (Harpool used that phrase explicitly). That said, I don't think that's for everyone, and not everything unconventional is better than convention. I don't think this is worth teaching except to some people who specifically want to experiment with it, but I don't think it's a fix. I think it's another way of doing something, with arguably more downsides than upsides. 🙂

    I love the idea of not running up any faster than you can halt your progress. That removes the variety of speeds of players from the equation. If they can halt their progress, it's good. If they can't, they are losing something. So you can make your speed as fast or as slow as you are able to handle and as much as it generates consistency for you. Well said. I wish we had a giant net like that around here!

      Will try to do a video on the off arm this offseason! Regarding the wrist thing: I haven't thought about what my wrist does even once in many years. The reason for that is that I don't think actively thinking about it or actively doing some wrist motion is gonna improve anything for me. My main swing thought right now is keeping my hips on line! Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    I like the thought reversal of the backswing being open and the front swing being closed, in regards to the hips. I feel like that thought will help you think about increasing power into the right hip at the hit instead of thinking of opening and releasing/losing power!

    Does the flight of the shot affect your run-up line? i.e., hyzer-flip, flex shot.

    • @LeonSonnleitner

      I always adjust my runup to point where I want to throw, No Matter where the teepad is pointing. If i throw a big anhyzer Off the Tee and my aiming Spot is far left of where the teepad is pointing then I will Run up Diagonally across the teepad in Order to stay on that Line towards my Spot! Opposite Thing would Go for a big hyzer off the tee where the aiming Spot is way out to the right. So I Always Change the Line I choose on the teepad but No matter what Angle I am throwing the Line is Always pointing where my aiming Spot is (and Not where the teepad is pointing sometimes). Great question, might have to do a Video about this...

    Love your videos Leon, please don’t stop sharing knowledge!
    Question:
    It kinda seems that, aside from the hips, the magic of the throw itself also happens in a split second at @11:52 where your hand stops reaching back and starts moving forward. I’ve seen the loose arm video but for the love of me I can’t seem to replicate this whip crack - what’s the key?

    • @LeonSonnleitner

  • @florian7485

    Finally an explanation that makes perfect sense to me (and isn’t too complicated either). Btw. after watching your first video and trying out the thing with the front foot pushing the right hip back and avoiding the swaying out with the hip, my drives instantly gained 10 meters while using zero arm strength (I went from 80meters « stock distance with some effort » to a 90meters « effortless » in a couple hours). I only have one question, the nerves in my arm went crazy after each good throw and hurt intensely for a minute every time the timing felt good and when I achieved a good snap with a relaxed arm. After a few minutes the pain went away completely though and I didn’t even feel my elbow or shoulder the next day (like I would often times with my old technique). Is that normal?

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner  Год назад +1

      Great to hear! I think your arm probably just got used to the new motion. If the pain stopped completely after the session I don't think it is an issue.

    The hardest thing I've been finding in my efforts to throw smooth/far is to keep my grip firm enough that the disc doesnt come out earlier while NOT pulling the disc... any tips other than super gluing the disc to my fingers? Holding the disc firm enough is causing me to tense up my arm... it is so difficult

    • @LeonSonnleitner

    • @elmertorres9411
      @elmertorres9411 Год назад

      For a diagonal run up, the front foot lands in line with the back foot, is that ok? The way you showed it was big but Drews gap is small.

    • @elmertorres9411
      @elmertorres9411 Год назад

      Or does this only apply to full power/distance shots? Eagle and drew do also throw in a straight line but only in low power, but when they wanna throw hard, it’s a diagonal run up

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner  Год назад +1

      They do a diagonal runup over teepad maybe but only because they are throwing the Disc further left. They still stay pretty much on the Line they throw along, especially Eagle. Drew has a little Bit of a bigger step
