The FIRST time...such a concept was used by the Egyptian Army in tje 1973...war...it was the first time a separate air defense command and integrated system was established and used ...with air force interface
When Colonel Chad talk about integrating eastern block systems and the pros and cons of it, i think they have done a good job. Now 2022 every burnt out russian tank in Ukraine is the result of all these great people at work.
The US must have a strategy plan that capable 100% to deterent of enemies' Nuclear bombs. And affordable to build 100,000 of Nuclear bombs that each bomb can be the size of 10,000 megatons to destroy any enemy anywhere around the globe in 15 minutes without any of enemy's interceptings.
The main lesson of the Ukraine war: we should shift much of the funds we currently spend on conventional forces to anti-ballistic missiles and other forms of nuclear defense. Let's GET REAL -- nukes are all Russia has against the US. If Russia’s conventional forces were twice as good as they are, they’d still be half as good as they need to be to give the US a run for its money. As for the threat posed by China, all signs point to its conventional forces being just as much of a paper tiger as Russia's. Realistically speaking, no country’s conventional forces pose a strategic threat to the US. Yet, against nukes the US seems content to remain helpless. The percentage of defense spending allocated to nuclear defense is so low what else can it be called other than wildly irrational and profoundly irresponsible. I heard the US has fewer bunkers than either tiny Albania or tiny Switzerland. I live in Washington DC. Yesterday I googled where to go in case of a nuclear attack. I couldn't find any useful answers. I just see comments like “go to a fall-out shelter” with no info about where fall-out shelters are, what their capacities are, which ones are deepest, best fortified, etc. If nukes were really about to fly in 15 minutes, I suppose I’d run to the closest subway stop, but to where should I ride the subway? Which direction should I head? Which subway lines would take me to an above-ground stop where death awaits? Where can one find potassium iodide pills on short notice? Why do most Americans not know that they'd need potassium iodide to protect against radiation? Why hasn’t the US spent a few hundred dollars to create a webpage with this kind of information? Why don't high school teachers spend the five minutes it'd take to tell kids what to do in the event of a nuclear attack? It’s as if long ago we decided there’s no point in even trying to survive a nuclear attack because whatever we do millions of us will die. If half of us will die, there’s no point in the other half surviving. What kind of nonsense is that?! Why do we make no effort whatsoever to save the tens of millions of American lives that could be saved? We spend astronomical sums to develop fighter jets that approach invincibility, which over the years saves up to tens of servicemen, maybe even a few hundred if there's major war. So why do we spend almost nothing to save tens of millions of civilians from being incinerated or killed by radiation in a nuclear attack?!
Realistically you cannot put your whole population underground. Honestly if Nukes are coming my way I would rather be underneath them. Defending against a $4-5 million dollar weapon with multiple decoys is not affordable.
"So why do we spend almost nothing to save tens of millions of civilians from being incinerated or killed by radiation in a nuclear attack?!" -- Because that's what the radicals want? Who is considering the Radicals' strategy? Why is the"Biden" Administration allowing (driving?) critical fossil energy supplies to drop without developing new ones first? It would be easy to develop modern Generation IV, factory-built, trailerable nuclear energy first before letting oil-powered infrastructure fall to ruin. Electric cars are nearly perfected and certainly good enough to use, , but where do we get the electrical energy to fuel them? Assuming the need to blindly de-carbonize energy is the correct path.
Um, I'm pretty sure at least philosophically, that the fighter jets ARE part of what saves us... or we would've been attacked by now by someone with nukes. Nobody is trying to nuke anyone, thats bad for everyone. Also, the claim that no other country has conventional means to threaten the US is pure ignorance. And again, EVERYBODY is useless against nukes. I cannot fathom your position on this with that fact alone. NOBODY is nuke proof or bothering on fall-out shelters at a legislative level, and if they were fool what the hell would that mean or signal to others? Oh, they are PREPARING FOR NUCLEAR WAR. Think bud
my eyes are too tired to read your whole text but let's not forget the destructive force of a single nuke? ever lose a call of duty match because of one? M.A.D.
"So why do we spend almost nothing to save tens of millions of civilians from being incinerated or killed by radiation in a nuclear attack?!" well it doesnt take money it takes human effort... different things with different behavior...
Shouldn't you be War Gaming on a constant basis and iterating the software---then doing it again? We need to develop learning systems and AI that take us into the future of the integrated battlefield. It is weird, wonderful and terrifying all at the same time.

Thank you CSIS for having real conversations with smart professionals about topics which the MSM just can't cover properly
MSM?!?!?!?! What the hell are you talking about.
Do you even know what CSIS is?
I despair sometimes. More recently. A lot more recently.
