Once it “pops “ or tries to run you must open the choke immediately before trying to pull again. If you even pull it one more time with the choke closed it will be flooded.
I wish I knew why Stihl designed the FS 260 to be a bit shorter than say, the FS 240. It may have been better if there was this model was about 2 " longer.
While it is true that a shorter shaft makes for tree cutting with circular blades, the FS 240 is not marketed in that way. In fact off-set handles are more suitable for mowing.
Maybe the 260 is meant to be a do-it-all type of device : ) I tried the 3 bladed knife and a disc cutter on my stihl and both work fantastic (be sure to get the proper guard for them too)
I don't use it as much anymore for weeds i started using an old fashioned scythe, i enjoy that a lot more, but its a slower process more meditative : ) i still use the stihl with the disc blade for trimming small trees/saplings, it has it place in the heavy brush too : )

PolymathPete simmply I just keep the throttle wide open yeah for some people sounds scary but its all right and I'm keeping cuting head on the ground for beter Cut that way the grass won't be wavy and I smothli swing the timer through the grass so it won't lose power ohh and for that trimer jacket or what do you call it if didn't adjusted it already try to adjust it so when you need to lift the timer head from the graund it you would be able to do it just with the finger tips :) that is the way I cut grass and I have no problems with the timer :)
thanks for the tips : ) for me its hard to run the trimmer smooth against the ground because it's quite uneven. Also, I have been told to let the trimmer rest on the backswing, never tried running it full throttle for 100% duty cycle : )
Thanks. Great video for someone like myself who had bought one of these but was unsure how to use it.
To start the brush cutter cold put the choke in the closed position and prime the primer bulb until it is full the you won't struggle to start it

Only thing I would add, change that head to a fix-cut 31-2 and you'll smash way more grass way easier

I think it is so that you can use the circular blades for cutting small trees on them .. i think the shorter pole causes it to handle better?

Yeh ,tools from Dr.Fillip Stihl are the best i own fs 360c and it,s one owesome toy
Arnold H but fs 260 is 2,7 hp and 360 is like 240 2,3 hp and 410 is better version of 260 the same 2,7 hp

Once the machine has tried to start put the choke in the run or half choke position then it will start easier

Stihl fs 240 is same as fs 260
FS 240 is 37,7 cm3 with 1.7kW at 6.9kg and FS260 41.6 cm3 with 2.0kW at 7.5 kg .. very similar machines
I use fs 480 and 490 c em and 480 much beter
heavier too i think ? i think for my purpose of small homestead this is sufficient : )
