I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
It's probably skip chain; skip clears chips way faster & cuts just as fast on a bar that long. So only half as miserable as you might think it would be... it's still a pain to do by hand though!
@@danl6634 I love hand sharpening. I don't have an 880 though. But after some practice you can sharpen your saw chain quickly and adjust rakers with ease. Maintaining a saw is like dating a super model lol lots of maintenance.

Ahh, I used to rip 8 foot spruce logs when I heli logged on the coast here in BC. 6 foot bars on 090s or 088s, sometimes 3120 Huskys. Doesn’t take that long to file the chain, sometimes I’d only get two logs ripped in a 12 hour day, it’s a lot of wood to cut through.
Antti Lukkari Hahahaha crappy??? I’d love to see a husky or some other brand try to cut it. Psst. Would take soo much longer with any other brand because of power. What do you use???
I'd say this tree is anywhere between 150 to 250 years old. What is amazing to me is that there is no rot at all. .ussualy oaks have rotten centers from. Maybe a broken branch leaving a place for rain water to sit and over time rot itsbway down to the base of the tree . Awesome for table tops.

Except where he gouged it with the small saw. Probably less than 1/8" but that could have been avoided by turning the big saw upside down and finishing the cut from the top.
I love oak, but boy is it unforgiving compared to something like Birch and Maple. The one I cut down for a friend was a twig compared to this thing and it clogged up my bar when I got into cutting the last bits of it for fire wood. I had the take my bar off, clean it out and then dribble some bar oil into the nose sprocket to get it freed. :)
Slane583 try asking for full skip chain at your dealer. less teeth but a faster cut and it has an easier time getting rid of the chips in side the cutter.
Omar Mendoza: I don't think they have full skip for my saw, it's only an MS251. The chain I was using when cutting is a Stihl Rapid Super though. Much more aggressive than the low kick-back that came on in.
For anyone who is wondering why they are cutting down this oak tree, this oak tree already had its last breath and is a dead tree. Cutting down an old, dead tree in necessary for the younger trees to thrive. Being able to use the oak wood from that dead oak is not only profitable for the wood yard, but it's also better for the environment and not letting the wood go to waste.
