He saws by intuition. Don't need no buzzers or bells. His notches are all perfect. He saws by sense of smell! I ain't seen nothin like him on any video. That doomed kid from Asia sure plays a mean chainsaw! 😄
This guy's skill level is off the charts. The saw weighs more than he does and has incredible torque yet he handles it like it's a small little limbing saw and even used it one handed. Amazing. I have operated saws all my life as an amateur that fells trees, bucks them and burns wood. I'm 6'2 and 190 pounds and generally operate saws smaller than that because that is a big heavy saw. The fact he climbed that tree barefoot, hung on without ropes and carried that heavy saw while he free climbed is amazing. His cuts are perfect. Pound for pound the strongest cat I've ever seen operate a saw.

My high school shop teach was missing a thumb from a table saw. These guys have a $1800 chain saw, sticks and no shoes, but they still all had their fingers and toes. these people are way more skilled than most people give them credit.
Unbelievable ! Barefoot and in flip flops. No helmets. No goggles. No ear protection. Definitely not an OSHA supervised job. and yet, pound for pound, these dudes might be some of the grittiest, toughest hombres in the forest. Certainly among the strongest.
A couple of years ago while on vacation in Pattaya, Thailand. Stayed at guesthouse, went down for morning coffee only to find that some drunk idiot drove a truck into some shopfront, smashed plate glass everywhere, aluminium framework mangled up. And now there’s guys in flip flops, shorts and t shirts, no goggles and no helmets were clearing up, moving the truck out by hand. Jeeeez no safety gear in sight.

A master doesn't use his tools in a way that he's going to get himself killed one day. These are not masters at their craft, this is UNSKILLED CHEAP EXPENDABLE LABOR.
Their safety standards certainly aren't up to what we're accustomed to, but the person operating the main saw in this documentary has impressive skills. Imgine what he could accomplsh if given our expected level of equipment? He did all this while barely attached to the tree with more than a couple toenails! Add to it he's taking respectable undercut wedges with a full size saw. I wouldn't want to have to grapple with him on the mat! Very impressive video, but I can't say I'll recommend it for training purposes stateside! Thank You for sharing how work is done elsewhere on the globe, it helps me appreciate what we've accomplished over here.
I did this work for over 45 years and still have all of my fingers and toes intact. Judging by the unsafe manner in which these guys work, none of them will make 40 years in this line of work.

cutting those large limbs off one at a time was what I liked to see, then cut the main trunk down and it was ready to cut up (the saw drive done a very good job of getting on the ground. The ground crew done a good job of cutting it up. thanks for a very good video. enjoyed it very much. (Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA)
I wonder if flip-flops are the new trend in dangerous jobs in Asia. At the same time I'm trying to don't get taken away by the safety measures taken by professional loggers all over the world, whom by the way, wear as much protection as possible while performing these dangerous tasks. These guys don't seem to be too worry about staying alive for another job, which seem to be some kind of second nature to them. These videos should be part of the training to get certified as a professional logger, anywhere else in the world. By the way, my safety boots,gloves,helmets and most of my safety equipment is manufactured in Asia, of all places. It is my sincere hope that these crazy brave men are still alive. I’ve been in the logging business since 1972. Not a single one of the hard working folks in this video will make it that long. I’d go through the list of safety issues one by one, but I don’t want to crash anyone’s computer.
They lack safety equipment - yes, but they certainly don’t lack skill. They are not afraid of hard work; they don’t have skidders , but they do have team work moving those giant logs around. The Vietnamese people are amongst the most industrious hard working folks I’ve run across and they deserve respect.
This obviously isn't his 1st day. Saw is tuned to perfection and is throwing chips. Tad loose for my liking but that's me. He's barefoot cause that's how they free climb trees there. Definitely dangerous but he's very confident and is a very seasoned faller/bucker/climber.
@@davidmasland5627 It's an MS 881 MAGNUM $2200. Most climbers are using very small light saws. This is the largest saw Stihl makes and he's monkeying around using it with 1 hand. Gotta love all the 'safety' gear they're wearing!
Watching this was pretty incredible from about 100 different ways of considering it. That is valuable timber they are pulling out but clearly.....life is cheap in southeast Asia. The guy going up the tree barefoot and releasing tension (by free hand cutting) on limbs measuring easily in the metric ton range without falling off or dropping the saw was jaw dropping.
@@patmcbride9853 Watching it....I could imagine all sort of incidents that would most likely result in the death or severe maiming of the climber. I could also imagine incidents causing big problems for the guys wandering around on the ground. OSHA inspector......that's pretty funny.

Watching it....I could imagine all sort of incidents that would most likely result in the death or severe maiming of the climber. I could also imagine incidents causing big problems for the guys wandering around on the ground.
