      @Ana Martins here u go telling us that George wasn't Greek! U may be Portuguese but u have the same bullshit ideology of the British. Like I said before you could not take the fact that George Michael was Greek! I suggest you look up George's quotes on his Greek heritage & watch him live in Athens Greece wearing a Greek flag & then come back to me trying to tell me he wasn't Greek! Even changing his name to Michael George said he still wanted to keep the "Greek element ". CYPRUS IS CULTURALLY GREEK! Only Anglos believe otherwise as they did everything they possibly could to stop Greece & CYPRUS from unifying! Culturally Cyprus is GREEK! Their blood is GREEK, their language is GREEK & so is their national anthem & history of course! Open a history book, get an education on Ancient Greece & then read up on George's quotes on his Greek heritage then come back to me!! By the way he would sign off on his Twitter account as "the singing Greek" this is just one of the many many examples!!

    It is never too late to admit what you probably avoided most of your life... being a fan all my life one of the things that made me feel a bit bad is that George never really talked about his Greek-Cyprus origin until he visited Greece in 2007. I spent most of my teen years wondering how come he didn't visit Athens for a concert. I was so frustrated by the fact, he even went to China but it seemed that Athens wasn't an option. So when he came and gave this interview i felt really good!!!!

      You can’t really hold it over his head tbh - George toured in places all artists at the time did and he himself probably had no personal connection or willingness to perform in Greece. This is just my opinion. However that doesn’t mean he was detached from his roots or hated his heritage. As the above video shows

Also in one of his concerts he sent a message to the paparazzi:" kiss my hairy, GREEK ass! If he consisted himself Greek, then you, and everyone like you better shut up!!!

    • @nicolettafourikis5749
      @nicolettafourikis5749 4 года назад +2

      @Ana Martins His father worked long hours & wasn't home to speak Greek to his kids. Most half GREEK kids usually don't learn Greek very easily as English is usually spoken at home & back in the 60s & 70s when George was growing up there wasn't that many Greek teaching schools around as there are now!!! & Cyprus is GREEK its culturally Greek! The only reason its an independent state & island nation is because Bullshit Britain would not allow "Enosis" (unity) for Cyprus & Greece & so it was the only way for Cyprus to gain her independence from being a British colony ! The national anthem in Cyprus is the Greek national anthem!! & sorry there are no such things as Turkish Cypriots! If they well & truly felt like Turkish Cypriots then they shouldn't have invaded the island in 74!!! & no George nor his father were ashamed of their Greek heritage! I've been a fan since 1984 & have many many books on George & he opens up about his Greek heritage very easily & with pride no shame! If he had shame he wouldn't have worn a Greek flag around him in his 2007 Athens tour! By the way in another post you are claiming GMs father isn't Greek ...u re ally have no idea what you are saying!!

Prior to that, it was under British administrative control from 1878 and under Ottoman Empire control for most of the preceding four hundred years.

      George Michael and his parents Kyriacos and Lesley at his 30th birthday
      George Michael was born Georgios Kyriacos Panagiotou on June 25, 1963. The international singer, songwriter, and producer went on to sell over 100 million albums worldwide. George sadly had his "last Christmas" as he passed away peacefully in his bed (due to heart failure) on Christmas day December 25, 2016.
      When George Michael performed in Athens, Greece and wore the Greek flag. See video:
      George Michael
      George was the only son of a hard-working Greek Cypriot immigrant (Kyriacos Panagiotou) who married an English dancer Lesley Angold. His father, Kyriacos, was a very hard working restaurant owner. George was raised in a working-class part of Finchley, North London, and indulged as the only boy in the family. His dad moved to the UK in 1953.

      Does George Michael appear pissed off for the interviewer is asking questions in Greek?? & Greek is spelled with a capital G english should be spelled with a lower case e since its bastardised & has over 6000 Greek words stolen plus our ancient marbles!! List goes on...

    • @finchfrance
      @finchfrance 2 года назад

      @@nicolettafourikis5749 It's still only one of the minor influences on the English language compared to the other influences like French and Latin both coming in at 28% each. Most Greek words came into English through the other language influences and not directly. Also, words aren't "stolen" as you try to imply. In the English language was influenced mainly by invasions. First the Roman occupancy of England, and then the Norman invasion. Your 6000 words is something you've invented but if we go with your arbitrary number, compare 6000 to the 300,000 recorded words in the OED....

    • @nicolettafourikis5749
      @nicolettafourikis5749 2 года назад

      @@finchfrance There is over 6000 Greek words stolen from the Greek language to form a bastardised English language...Facts! Most especially, medical..Look it up!
      Secondly Roman influences are not particularly something to boast about since they were barbaric. Cleopatra diddnt call them barbarians for nothing!
      Thirdly the STOLEN Parthenon marbles sitting in the London museum speaks volumes.
      As far as "invasions" are concerned well the British invaded I repeat invaded never conquered half the bloody world. U have a shameless history. Absolute zero culture...
      Had the Roman empire not fallen when they did you guys would have ended up the same population as Sweden. Instead the Roman empire fell & then came along Britain. You had no idea what to do with your convict population so you invaded ...
      Can I ask who invented DEMOCRACY the cradle of.civilsation?, who invented philosophy, mathematics, science, the Olympics? Ancient theatre?
      Who the British? The Romans? Who? Everything was stolen from the Greeks...
      Prior to Greece hosting the Olympic games they found so many ancient artefacts that were displayed in the new Athens museum. They found jewelry such as earrings, kitchen utensils... What would one find if they dug up from British soil.
      Going back to INVASIONS...Hmmmm well let's talk about the brutal invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Britain was supposedly a guarantor of Cyprus & look at how they sat back and allowed Turkey to ILLEGALLY invade Cyprus & continue to occupy an illegal state that no country trades with.
      Even on some of the books GM said he was happy he wasn't 100% English he said he hears things & thinks "hmmm that's very English " plus he also mentioned that hos cousins were turfed out from their homes being part of the Northern region of Cyprus during the invasion. So please don't hold your head up high proud of your "culture " which you don't have hang your head down low in shame for the atrocities committed by your ancestors!
      I'm a Greek from Australia. I've met maybe 2 or 3 indigenous people in my entire life! Why? Because they barely exist. You guys committed GENOCIDE. U have stolen land that does not belong to you. So please spare us the crap about speaking to George in English & not Greek because when one speaks in English they are speaking in Greek!!!
