I just did this on my 1970 650 Tiger. The snap ring is on top of the grease cap, not behind it. Once the snap ring is removed, just drive the grease cap out with the bearing from the other side.
Ya, lots of people put them together the wrong way around so whatever you've got, work with it. I wouldn't have made the video if the snap ring was so obvious.

If you are ever trying to clean up a wiring harness and are looking for the cloth look without the stickiness and inflexibility of electrical or friction tape, here is a product I've found that is simply amazing. It is called "self adhesive bandage wrap". It comes in all colors, is waterproof and looks really nice once wrapped. You'd need 3 rolls of 1 inch to wrap a complete Triumph harness. I have found several videos about how to take the bearings out. None about putting the new ones back! Also, the circlip on my '69 TR25W (exact same wheel i believe) is outside of the grease cap.

@@stevedefeo Be careful that you have the correct bearing size. They are not standard over the counter bearings. Measure old, replace with same and you may spend some time finding the exact replacement. Other than that it is just beat them off and beat them on. lol. Long punches are really handy when they get stuck. Exploded view from the manual is really helpful and available online for free.
I learned how to get my mind right about fixing stuff, now. I asked JESUS to make me more motivated, and not so fearful of failure. That makes me have a clearer mind to investigate and solve problems. Plus, I just talk about the good news when I work and that makes every task easier. Any luck with the engine parts you need? Hi Mike. You've got the right attitude Brother. With the LORD's help ain't nothing we can't tackle. As for parts, I've been gathering piece by piece as monies are available. Been looking for a reasonable speedo with a matched speedo drive that goes on the rear wheel so I can finish that part of the build up and have a rolling chassis. Hard to find parts that match each other so they work properly when put together. New, the combo would be a couple of hundred dollars and that's just beyond my capabilities right now. I paid 250 for that used front wheel with the rusted out rim back in November and kind that kind of broke the bank. LOL. How did the LORD say??? Search and ye shall find. I doubt He was talking about Triumph parts but I'll keep at it anyways. :-) One thing the LORD has taught me is patience. About 5 years ago I started looking for a blacksmith anvil. I found a Chinese one down in Toronto for 75 dollars and a friend was supposed to pick it up for me when he went down that way. Well he didn't get around to picking it up so he gave my money to his brother down there who was supposed to pick it up and then my friend could bring it back to me, the next time he went down. So I waited.....and waited. A year later my money was returned to me so no anvil. Looked all over the Internet for one but they were running around 700 dollars, used of course. Found one in Ottawa for 400$ but it was in such poor condition, I offered the guy 300 because it would cost me 100 to reface it. I could find no way to go get it and shipping was beyond belief. So I waited another 2 years. Then my friend from town calls and says come see what I gots. So off to town I go and was I ever surprised. Seems his mother-in-law's husband had passed away and there sat a beautiful 150 pound anvil in pretty good shape which she wanted gone. So my friend says, "take it!" I said I'd be a thief to take such a gift from his mother-in-law who didn't know me from a hold in the ground, so he said, okay, she'll be very happy with 150$. So I gave him 300$ and told him that was what I thought was a fair price for the anvil so perhaps his mother-in-law might be twice as happy. He told me later that she was stunned and was very thankful that I was the one to get the anvil. Patience.... it pays to be patient. Only problem, was another heart attack during the wait. So now I gots the anvil but haven't the strength to swing the hammer to make it ring. LMAO. You got to laugh at life sometimes. God bless you folks.

Even the Triumph manual is a joke. Like it is some secret so don't tell anyone that it is a press fit cover over the C-clip so you can punch out the bearing. LOL. So unless I missed something, I'm the only person alive willing to tell people what the damned secret is. That left hand thread on the other side seems to be a secret as well but I figured that one out with just a couple of taps on the punch with a hammer. I admit that the press fit took me a while to figure out. Good luck on your Harley. I have no idea what surprises it has in store. 1:09 forward explains how the chrome cover comes off. I did not take it off in this video because it is a video about wheel bearings, not cover plates. Pry 1/3 of the tabs up and the plate will pry off. Or you could just look up a video which shows someone removing that plate. There are lots of videos on RUclips.
Well, after checking the parts manual I find that you are absolutely correct. I bought the wheel used from a guy out west and just never bothered to stop and check if it was put together correctly. Just knew it was a dust cover and if someone hammered it in, I could get it out. LOL. Thanks again for pointing that out. Huge job to correct my error at this point considering the bike is all assembled, but I don't think it will make much difference as to safety or performance but I'm a tad wiser with your assistance. Ride safe.

Living on 1k a month is very difficult but I've been saving up, month to month. Appreciate the video but author never did explain how to get the damn chrome cover plate of the hub!

that c clip sould be on the outside;, at some point in its life it has been put together wrong.
