Brilliant information. From this I have diagnosed that the relay is defective on my Dads F3. Bypassed using paper clip and it ran spot on. I've ordered a new relay off ebay. Happy days. Thank you
Under the plastic cover on the end of the pump, there is a set of contact points. When the pressure in the line builds to a certain amount, the points open and turn the pump off. I had one go bad on my 87 Hurricane.
Thanks john Yea, the pump seems to be working fine. Pump turns on when pressure is low and turns off when pressure is high . I tested that… pump slows down when bike is idling and will speed up as i rev the bike or if I shut off the fuel tap. But maybe they’re sticking? Is that possible ? Making their function inconsistent? Replacement points are $65 if I need them
@@true-moto-resto I didn't know they sold new points for them. Back when it happened to me, I just replaced the pump. The guy at the dealers said he had never ever seen a pump go bad though. Maybe they just need a bit of cleaning or lube on the pivot mechanism.
Very Helpful! I just replaced the relay on my 1997 F3 , it would seem the relay is bad ( cheapo amazon unit) Once I bypass it the bike runs like a top. Seems to only be an issue when the bike sits and gets cold, after its warmed up , starts up every time
Hi, I bought a fuel pump of Amazon and it won't prime so the air just sits in the fuel lines so not enough gas is getting to the engine so it won't start how can I make the fuel pump prime?
It should prime as soon as you push the starter button or if you jump the relay . Is it possible that the pump is no good? Many of the ones on Amazon are cheaper overseas items.
If you’re referring to the clear hose I used to get the fuel from the pump -- no idea , I have a giant bag full of different size hoses and I just grabbed one that fit
I’d guess that if the relay is bad it will cause the fuel pump to not function and therefore starve the carbs for fuel. If the relay has been jumped, in theory the fuel pump will run all the time. Can u feel or hear the pump running?
@@true-moto-resto hey sorry for getting back to you so late, thanks for the response. the pump actually ticks real bad as if it’s about to go out. So I’m thinking it’s a bad fuel pump
@@TheATFcanSuckmyDicc same i just replaced the part of the fuel pump still doesnt want to fire. Ill see if starting fluid will help. If not im going to check fuses. If not then Im going to check pulse generator. Then the manual then online.

@@johnb5519 possible, I’m told if they do stick it’s just a sign that they will fail, so I’ll see how it goes, I’m going to test it again shortly

Yea, sometimes this Amazon units don’t work so well. Time to visit the Honda dealer I guess
Im having the sameish problem. Ill check the back black cover to see how the points are.

Hey what size hose did you use. Ill see description

I wouldnt worry, if I leave any of my Hondas for more than a week, they take more starting, I always thought it was a Honda feature
I hear ya, my CB1 is like that too, but I decided to check this one....just because
Can a bad relay or no relay cause loss of power in higher gears and rpm’s ? The previous owner of my bike jumped the relay

Where did you get the manual?
What forum are you using?
Manual was online via Cbrforum.com

EBay usually the best or Baboon parts in Holland . Also CMSNL.com also in Holland
Audio is quite low, compared to intro music.
Ok, thanks , will fix that for future Vids
