My girlfriend was the first to make a move, I was the one that asked her out. She was the first to say I love you after a few months, I wasn't COMPLETELY sure I did but there was nothing I didn't like about her and there was no sign that said I shouldn't because I liked her for a while, so I said it back (unsure but very positive if the idea at that time). I made very little at the time, but she had a stable job and a car where she could make time to come stay at my house or pick me up to stay at hers for periods of time because we lived basically an hour away from each other ( I usually covered the gas money whenever she wanted to come over because she missed me and I loved her company, we were all we had with each other, we had mutual friends that we knew that had just disappeared or moved away and we didn't see them as much, but we were the only ones that stayed true to each other no matter what). For almost a year we had gotten along perfectly because we were friends before we got into a relationship and I couldn't ask for nothing more, she was the best thing that was happening in my life because before her it was stale, wake up and do whatever was happening that day but with her I didn't care if it was a day of driving to nowhere or staying at home with nothing but each other and we both loved it. She always said that her intentions of dating me was to be with me in the long run, and every once in a while she would talk about having kids. Both of us new that we wouldn't want kids at a young age but in her mind she always said she wanted mine, eventually. I've been with other people before that was nothing serious but with her she just made it clear that there was nothing to worry about and I was okay with it. Then one day she said that she didn't have time to be in a relationship because she didn't want to have to worry about me with the issues that was going on in her life. Her issues was her mom was getting sick and she felt disconnected from her former friends. Her mom loved me because I cared for both her and her mother and everytime her friends called her when she was staying with me I told her to go see them, I knew what it was like to have friends but they'd all moved away and I didn't want her feel that sense of loneliness so I encouraged her to go. She said after she needed sometime to "feel like herself" again and after that she would want to continue. I didn't like the idea of us not being together anymore so I asked why I cant be apart of her life and help with what she's going through like i have been for the past year especially during times like these. She just felt like being single she said. Next couple of weeks her texts were getting shorter and always seemed like she just wanted to be done with the conversation. It felt nice to put how I feel into words, but the more i go on this empty and painful feeling in my chest just gets worse so, I think I'm done

I see a lots of comment here attacking the Daughter Natalie for dumping Tyler here. I think you guys projecting your own observation and insecurity here. In my opinion, Natalie is doing the guy Tyler a favour by been mature adult and telling him that it doesn't work out because of her fear of commitment which more common than you think. Guys do this as well dumping a girl because it going too well.
Frankly, i rather someone I love be honest with me and telling me straight that it not working out than stringing me alone and making me hope for something more than its.
This way Tyler can move on with his life and find someone who deserve as he seems like a real gentleman, kind and polite. Sometime it more kind to be cruel.

My girlfriend was the first to make a move, I was the one that asked her out. She was the first to say I love you after a few months, I wasn't COMPLETELY sure I did but there was nothing I didn't like about her and there was no sign that said I shouldn't because I liked her for a while, so I said it back (unsure but very positive if the idea at that time). I made very little at the time, but she had a stable job and a car where she could make time to come stay at my house or pick me up to stay at hers for periods of time because we lived basically an hour away from each other ( I usually covered the gas money whenever she wanted to come over because she missed me and I loved her company, we were all we had with each other, we had mutual friends that we knew that had just disappeared or moved away and we didn't see them as much, but we were the only ones that stayed true to each other no matter what). For almost a year we had gotten along perfectly because we were friends before we got into a relationship and I couldn't ask for nothing more, she was the best thing that was happening in my life because before her it was stale, wake up and do whatever was happening that day but with her I didn't care if it was a day of driving to nowhere or staying at home with nothing but each other and we both loved it. She always said that her intentions of dating me was to be with me in the long run, and every once in a while she would talk about having kids. Both of us new that we wouldn't want kids at a young age but in her mind she always said she wanted mine, eventually. I've been with other people before that was nothing serious but with her she just made it clear that there was nothing to worry about and I was okay with it. Then one day she said that she didn't have time to be in a relationship because she didn't want to have to worry about me with the issues that was going on in her life. Her issues was her mom was getting sick and she felt disconnected from her former friends. Her mom loved me because I cared for both her and her mother and everytime her friends called her when she was staying with me I told her to go see them, I knew what it was like to have friends but they'd all moved away and I didn't want her feel that sense of loneliness so I encouraged her to go. She said after she needed sometime to "feel like herself" again and after that she would want to continue. I didn't like the idea of us not being together anymore so I asked why I cant be apart of her life and help with what she's going through like i have been for the past year especially during times like these. She just felt like being single she said. Next couple of weeks her texts were getting shorter and always seemed like she just wanted to be done with the conversation.
It felt nice to put how I feel into words, but the more i go on this empty and painful feeling in my chest just gets worse so, I think I'm done

hey, ik u wrote this 2 months ago but i was broken up in a shitty way too and left dangling with so much hope. i’m sure you know this by now, but i was gonna add that when they are evasive and say noncommittal things about ending it or wanting a break, it usually means they just wanna end it and are too big of pussies to do it the respectful way. idk if any of that made sense or if you needed to hear this but the best thing to do would be to move on if you haven’t already
