- You guys know I love stoves, and I have reviewed many here over the years. One type I have stayed away from ever since my very first stove review is any stove I have to PUT TOGETHER! Well, after years of hearing the cries, I have finally got my hands on an Emberlit Titanium stove. So what do I think?

I love your reviews but you made this seem so much more difficult than it really is lol. It’s not this hard to assemble. I have both and I find the Emberlit burns more efficiently and packs flatter/smaller. Both are great but 99% of people won’t have an issue in assembling even with gloves.

Ernie, I find that it’s easier to do two sides then the base then add the third side and front.
I have both the Firebox Nano and the Emberlit Fireant. I find the Nano just a fiddly as the Emberlit. I find them both equal as far as that but with the Emberlit folding flat, it’s my preference.
I generally carry an Emberlit titanium fireant and love it. Once you've assembled it a few times, it becomes second nature. I also like the fact that you can use both Esbit cubes and Trangia alcohol burners in it.
I bought the Emberlit Fireant UL a year or two ago, struggled about the same as you did in this video, had several cuts on my fingers from the sharp edges, packed it into the pouch, put it in my bushcraft pack, and went online and ordered the Bushbuddy. The Fireant is lighter at 2.8 ounces if I recall, but the Bushbuddy is basically ready to go and fits in my 1 liter Mors Pot so storage is no big deal.
I added one to my survival items because I thought it would be better than trying to build a fire on the ground and especially in winter Nordic skiing when around here the ground can be 6 to 10+ feet below you.
Thank you for posting this review BUT for me I'm going to stay with my Firebox 5" Titanium stove. The Firebox is more versatile.
If price was no issue, we would probably all just buy the 5" titanium firebox stove and call it a day. I think people put up with these stoves is because it works, is light weight and the price, I've seen copycats as low as $35.
Yes they can be a little tricky to put together but then you go outdoors for break from your normal life. If you want things easy stay home and use the kitchen stove 😄
If you want to Ernie you can drill some air holes all around the sides of the stove so it can smoke way less. :)
My first stove. I agree. I drilled holes in each of the crowns at the top of the side pieces (12 holes in all). I also placed some pinched hardware cloth on top of the base plate so air could get under the fire wood as there are no holes in the base plate. Made a huge difference in heat and almost no smoking now when you use a larger diameter pot. Emberlit should remake the cross bars so they will extend higher above the top of the 4 sides at least 1/2 inch. This will again give it more oxygen and virtually eliminate any smoking issues. He was challenged putting it together, never had that problem. I will say although I like the stove pulling it apart I found very difficult because the pieces "stick" together and cut myself more than once. Although I still have it I pretty much moved on to a Firebox Nano ss for 1 person, and a Canway gasifier for 1-4 campers for cooking or winter heating.

I was feeling your pain & frustration while you were assembling this stove. Fortunately you weren't wearing gloves during the build, otherwise the chore would have been near impossible!!
Unfortunately, your hands were covered with soot in the meanwhile. I have a similar stove which comes in sections as the Emberlit. But the one I own isn't designed as poorly as Emberlit.... VERY easy set up!! American made, okay... but .... come on... we should expect it to be better designed, thus easier to put together. Right?????!!!!! Thank you ... again ... for helping all of us to to make wise choices when it comes to spending our hard earned cash.

@@1eyedjacksRwild with practice!! All the same, his hands were covered with soot will struggling to put it together. He is good about using a product several times before posting his reviews, but it still appeared to be a struggle to assemble. I just know my similar product works out more easily. The tabs on the same side piece don't oppose each other. Hope that makes sense. Thank you.

How much would it cost to make your own and still produce something this light in weight and effective? You could DIY with stainless steel wire "cloth" or aluminum roof flashing.

I have one arm due to a stroke and it is going to be almost impossible for me to put together this stove. Thats why my go to stove is the firebox series. The nano and the 5 inch

seeing you strugle putting it together was really annoying. not because of you but i recognize bad product design when i see it. imagine beeing winter and your hands are trembling, new curse words would be invented. :)
There is a difference between a firebox and a stove
A firebox holds a fire
A stove creates a draft to help burn the fuel
The Emberlit is a highly engineered stove that burns fuel in a very efficient manner
Easy to load and maintain
I also don’t mind the small effort of assembly
All together a superior product
Available in both titanium or steel to suit your expense
You’ll have to pry my Firebox Stove from my cold dead hands… And mine’s a Gen 1 LOL!
I love my Emberlit stove. I have the stainless one and have had it for 9 yrs now. It's much easier to assemble the 2 sides, stand it up, put side 3 on, put bottom in, pick up, and put front on. I could probably assemble 6 to the one you did. No knocking you, just trying to get you moving in the right direction with it. When it's easy, it's fun. Happy camping!
I don't know because mine is the steel one, but it is easy for me and only take a minute.
I like my emberlit and my firebox. You're just not doing it correctly, watch the owner video. If I want lighter load I use emberlit, if not I use firebox.
I love it. Similar to the Überleben in size and design; however, neither is a replacement for the Firebox or Bushcraft Essentials folding stoves; just different. I like the variety and I like stoves. 😬
I can put mine together in about 30 seconds. Once you get it the first time it all makes sense. AND…you did say you pack your own wood? To the woods?
NOPE!!!! FireBox G5 for me! For $75 that stove is a pile of junk.
If you feed it through the front port its easy to keep going. Also take it apart and put it together 8-10 times.

I had a friend who had one. I tried it, and its a pain in the ass. It is light and small, but not worth it to me. Esp. for the price ($75 !?). I love my Ikea Hobo stove!!
Tap it accidentally with your foot while its lit and see how fast it falls apart.

Outstanding Brother Ernie, I hope to be able to purchase Titanium products, I did just purchased the Pathfinder Canteen and Stove mess kit, I love it , I hope to start buying there Titanium, I love Pathfinder, I also did purchase the Stainless 5" Fierbox I love it but the wait is what it is. I have burned 3 Small fiers in it, and have oiled it, I bought that because of your great Commentment to tell us your Opinions, I trust your Honesty, I am trying to save up to purchase a USMC TENNIER SLEEPING SYSTEM, IM 6'4 and 36 " shoulder to Shoulder, it seems to be Hard to Make sure to find one Big enough, I know there not Cheap. And Where to find a new SYSTEM. Ebay is not easy for me. I ❤ my Emberlit titanium stove. I also ❤ my Winnerwell folding titanium stove with stand. It’s heftier, larger but sweet. But it’s rectangular and holds an iron skillet. And it’s a folding stove. It’s my favorite.
Nope, no thanks, way too fiddly. Try doing that with cold, wet and numb fingers. Seems like a poor choice for emergency kit. Cheers on another good video.
Hahahaha I'm sorry but at the 4 minute mark I already decided that wood stove is just not for me. My Firebox maybe a little heavy like you also said, but, it only takes a few seconds to set up. It's hassle free. No sale today LOL
Off topic, but I just bought a Soto Windmaster yesterday. Going to be Blue Lining out west for a few months and I figured i better have a gas stove to use instead of my gasification stove. Help prevent forest fires and all...
Not sure how well it'll perform in upper elevations when cold. Been using a 123 seva for decades. Never ever failed me. Weight and priming caused change...we'll see.
I'm like you I bought a few stoves I have the Emberlit which was my first I have no problem putting it together. My second stove was the nano stainless which I like for back packing and I just got the firebox freestyle and don't mind putting it together either. And I didn't buy the titanium version on either of the stoves because I'm just not worried about a few lousy ounces.each one does exactly what there ment to do and I'm very happy with each one.They all work with the trangia , cat stove, and wood (sticks). You can use all types of fuel , pellets, charcoal, esbit tablet's, that's what makes me very satisfied.
LOL, snort, LOL. I have another brand jigsaw puzzle stove (4,6,8 sided) similar to that as well. Still use it occasionally. Once I got my Firebox 5" and Nano stoves, it was like the Staples easy button of stoves "Ahhhh, that was easy!" I could have flipped open a Firebox and been well on my way to a coffee and breakfast sandwich by the time you lit that thing and cleaned the soot off your hands. Been there though. I have the Rover Camel version. It has a larger hole on the front. I usually put in a nice size log and as it burns I keep pushing it in over time.
I've never seen anyone light a fire from the top, or blow on the coals from the top lolol. Try it from the bottom. Especialy the blowing on the coals. Your gonna burn your face off. You are probably the same guy that shot his eye out as a kid with the Red Ridder BB Gun.

I love the Emberlit, and it’s cheap enough I wouldn’t save $20 just to get a Chinese version.
I just got one today. I got the steel version. It took me just about 3 minutes to figure out how to put it together. The last side you do have to flex it a little to engage the tabs but I didn't find it difficult. I can't wait to try it out. As soon as we have a little snow here because I live in a dry area I don't really like to start fires in the dryer seasons. But with snow on the ground, I reckon it won't be a problem. I think it will make a good holder and windshield for a Trangia burner as well. I need to get a little grill for it so I can grill a small steak on it.
Sorry, but the construction of this thing is extremely stupid… The Chinese manufacturers do ways better for half the price.

I have the Fire Ant and the Stainless steel version of this stove. I practiced putting it together and it is easy with practice. It is part of getting to know your gear. I have picked up some ideas on different ways to use mine by watching Steve's videos from Firebox. I also own several Firebox stoves.
This stove is easier to assemble then what we all witnessed here.
I have the Emberlit Fireant in SS. It's the smaller version. I really like it and have used it for years. Mine warped a little as well.
For a stove like that, I use 4 to 4and a half wood strips, quarter size, and stand them up in there, using five , six, or seven? Once they start to burn you can boil a gallon of water at a time if you want to! Love using this type stove!👍👍👍
Really these stoves are just for fun. All you really need is an axe and some snare wire. Just do a swedish fire torch or dig a hole line it with rocks and you got a natural stove lol. Pretty much free too.

I've been looking at these for a couple year's, and I have a Chinese knock off that will work in a pinch, but. Just the assembly alone is why Firebox stoves! I think the simple theory is the only stove that even comes close to the Firebox, IMHO.
No chance in hell will this replace the Firebox Ti stove much less the Bushbox XL Ti. Cons outweigh the pros, American made...I wonder. Thanks.
Ernie, nice video, I enjoy watching your show. I would say, Boil Eat Sleep. You seem to start your days with hot water and coffee, maybe breakfast, sleep later. Just a thought. Keep them coming. Enjoy life while you can.
My little Firebox Nano Gen 2 in titanium ( Even my stainless steel one ) with the X box's will be with me for a long , long time. It has to many advantages to set aside especially for a jig saw puzzle one. Had one of them and it's gone. Different strokes for different folks , keeps the world turning.

👍for the video, 👎for the stove. I have a Firebox Nano titanium stove that falls together in seconds and works great. It's been really wet around here lately, so I think I'll be using my alcohol stove until things dry up a bit.
I'm sure the Emberlit is great. But I made a woodstove from a coffee can that's lasted me over 5 years. Doesn't pack down but you don't have to fight to put it together either. Costs less than $77. A lot less.

I still want a fire box 5 inch S.S. With the extras. Except for the weight don't think you can beat it. Steve has it figured out. I know the Titanium would be much lighter but half again more the cost .
I'm not sure how it compares in price, but I'd be interested in seeing a review or comparison of the Firefly or Firefly XL stoves from QiWhiz. One thing I find atractive is the option to use it unfolded as a windshield (at least if you have the right accessory kit) for esbit or alcohol stoves. He offers an interesting two in one alcohol/esbit stove for sale as well. I also would guess it would work as a windshield for a remote burner gas stove. I wouldn't want to risk using it with a stove that goes on top of a canister though as the canister may overheat.
A great feature of this stove that is often overlooked is the "X" shaped trivet system. It creates a sturdy flat surface with no unstable areas. You can set the tiniest cup anywhere on the stove and never have to worry about it tipping over. If you've ever seen someone spill there drink because the cup isn't centered or the little wire supports aren't angled correctly you'll appreciate the "X" trivet.
I would be interested in seeing a comparison, but i would be more interested in a longer term comparison between a knock off and the original. I feel like the first couple burns would be similar, but as they get more use, i feel like the knock off would be worse off, lol. Great video as always!
I have one for a year now. It goes every where I go and it works well for me. Considered buying a knock off for another bag but nah - this works very well for me.
Assembly might be more difficult still during sub zero temperatures; but that being said, I still like these little stoves. Thanks Doc.
I got a Firebox nano, love the simplicity and the carry case make it usable even in semi-dry locations (I live near forests). And I usually harvest small dry twigs on the last 5 minutes to the campsite so the fire is ready in 5 minutes.

The sections on your stove seem to be very loose fitting. You can tighten it up by deepening the dimples that the lugs locate on gently with a hammer and punch; tappity tap not whackity whack. That will help to hold it together during assembly and make life a little easier for you. I have the Tomshoo Ti which is very similar to the Emberlit; the feed opening is larger and the base is ventilated but basically the same stove. It would be interesting to see them side by side. ATB

Ti Nano is super easy, lighter, and super easy to use. I'll stay with my Nano.
As an enhancement for the stove, I keep a collapsible bellows in the pouch. It comes in mighty handy.
