This is the perfect kit for the builder who wants a PG but can't justify it for the price. The roughly 90$ USD price tag is incredible for the size and detail. Edit: When I buy this kit I plan on 3D scanning the waist joint to make printed replacements. I will post a link to a thingiverse file when I get it done.
GMC and its owner are generally really good about helping out with getting parts replacements, usually only asking to cover a minor shipping charge to get the replacement part if anything at all, though it usually takes a bit for their factory contacts to get a part out to them. I've had to use the service twice and so far only one of the times was it a bit of a bust because it looks like the part I was after was just badly molded in general with the whole batch (it was just an option piece though so nothing really lost). I would suggest if you haven't nabbed one already, grab the "Flame Flying Shadow" next time they have it available because that kit is an absolute joy in the same vein as the Judge but with a very Super Robot aesthetic.

I got the Judge based on your video, and I was tempted with this one when I first heard about it last year until I saw avideo showcasing all the different configuration possibilities and avoided it because the sheer amount of choice would've driven me crazy lol. Another third party kit I bet you'll love is the Knight of Dark Sky kit. It's a super cool design with some sweet articulation gimmicks that I'm sure you'd appreciate.
Mine had the same missing peg for the leg! I spent a long time going back over and over thinking i missed something.I found a hollow piece of hard plastic tube and filed it down and cemented it in place. Works perfectly. But I'm honestly kinda glad to see it wasn't just mine. Still a killer model!
This is what those bootleg companies should do. Make their own freaking design that can challenge bandai in the model kit market. Hope this company continues to do what the do and succeed at it.

Love the build commentary section 👌, you should do this with all complex kits it's well worth it. The gimmicks and attention to detail in this kit are amazing. Keep up the good work bro.
23:50 ABS superiority. If you pose frequently your kits ABS is king, it's the same plastic used on figures so it's very sturdy and flexible, contrary to the somewhat fragile PS plastic used in the inner frames of recent mg. Why did bandai stop using ABS for mg inner frames is beyond me, all my recent mg have some form of stressmarks or some kind of damage, while my older mg still stand solid as bricks
That's what I'm saying! The IBO frame is super impressive but the plastic just makes moving the Barbatos around a stressful experience. I want to do more poses with mine but after already fixing up a crack in the hip joint, I don't want to deal with anymore issues. ABS, at the very least, should be used in major joint sections and load bearing parts. Hips and shoulders and parts that require expansion. The shoulder expansion segment on the GN frame of the Dynames requires you to pull on it but it's only held together by a thin peg, that shit got ripped apart just from moving the arm around. I find that this new plastic is often way too tight fitting for how weak it is, you just can't have a tight fit without worrying it'll tear
@@jeff3221 that's very disappointi g to hear Bandai kits have mindblowing engineering, but if you can't use said engineering because of the fear of breaking something it really becomes useless. I read a post about how abs plastic has like low moldong definition, but the zaku 2.0 frame (which is made entirely of abs) has the best detail ever seen on a mastergrade. So bandai, PLEASE bring back abs
One of the reasons Bandai switched to polystyrene could be that abs plastic, while offering a firm grip, is more susceptible to damage from chemicals such as the stuff found in paint. Polystyrene is easier to paint with less worry of cracks forming after painting. With that said abs can still be painted but one needs to be careful about the amount of paint used and what kind your using. Personally though I don't see too much difference between polystyrene frames and abs frames. Of the mg kits I have I can really only name one that's gotten kinda loose (death scythe hell for anyone wondering) but after that the others have held up well.

I don't know if this is the case for other and frames, but I've noticed that on the mentioned joints the plastic kind of likes to stick if left alone for a while making it difficult to move. I don't have this problem on any other kits and to this day it's the only joint I've ever broken.
@@eugeniahawkins4747 Aside from being selective from paints, it was probably because it can break under tension i.e the great mg sinanju ver. ka waist and other kits using abs. On a side note, most if not all third party kits is full abs especially with their inner frame so if anyone want to experience that abs supremacy they can try it with them.
Depending on how that waste joint is constructed you could replace both of the hip pegs with a dowel rod and that might solve your hip joint issues. I know it doesn't solve the fact that you got a defective kit but at least it's a seemingly simple fix.

I feel bad for you cause of that mishap on the crotch, seems like I was lucky to only have a black smear on one part. And one more thing I would like to add: the reason why it looks awkard on the backview when the optional crest is on (except the fact that you can see where the pegs are on that crest) was because you attach it wrong. You only need to remove the blue part on its forehead to do so, which is quite easy on my version. Then the crest just fits in flush

I was dissapointed at first when they changed from the planned Lupus Rex PG to the original Frosty Cat Design but I think they managed to make the design work well with the elements from the lupus rex.
Can that mobile suit store all the equipment? I can see that it's possible. The shield claw could be inserted in the shoulders, the binders could be in the hips while storing those axes, the claws can be in the arms too, while the sword and gem on the back
I preordered this amd can say I was not disappointed. My only defect was a dark streak in one of the white armor bits, and it is not too noticeable. Very sad to see you got ome with an undershot part.

Definitely gonna get this, as this is a kit I have been waiting for for ages. kinda sad that you got a defective hip joint. I was planning on getting it from Show Z Store, but if the site you got it from can get you a replacement hip part, I might consider them instead.
I got mine from show z and it came perfect with no takes. Plus mine came with instructions for all the extra parts. I feel like he got a sample or something.
hey Mech, can you do a review on the Full-Armour Unicorn Ver. Ka? been wanting to see a review on it specifically from you for a long long time now. would also help in making my decision on whether to buy it or not. thanks! 😅
The fact that this kit is a little over $100 shows how much Bandai upcharges their kits. This kit was one of my favorite build. As good as the pg exia or red astray. Which is the only two other pg’s I own. Plus painting it was a dream. Very easy to change it up no made it completely new colors. And it turned out amazing.
It’s only $100. For a pg. that’s super cheap considering Bandai charges $300 for theirs. And this figure is worth it through and through. You won’t be disappointed. Mine came perfect. I haven’t heard of any defects till I saw this review.
You mentioned Bandai quality... Definitely you get both the good and bad of non-Bandai kits with this one. Good as with the nice sharp plastic and ABS stability... Bad... It's a shame about that hip. It would be a decent amount of work to make and glue ABS from the runners to fix it. Would like to see this to top coated and then panel lined if you do end up doing an update!

This thing give more of an Aerial Gundam vibe rather than Barbatos.
To me at least
Can that mobile suit store all the equipment? I can see that it's possible.
The shield claw could be inserted in the shoulders, the binders could be in the hips while storing those axes, the claws can be in the arms too, while the sword and gem on the back
Absolutely fantastic kit. From design to build 👍
I preordered this amd can say I was not disappointed. My only defect was a dark streak in one of the white armor bits, and it is not too noticeable. Very sad to see you got ome with an undershot part.
If Barbatos and Astray had a baby.
What did you end up using to replace that missing hip peg?
yup its Byakko Ryujinmaru
Forget PG. When can I get an RG IBO kit? That is the real question
Maybe many people don't realize about the cat pilot, Nilson Works make the cat from a meme face 😂
Hi Mecha! Did you ever get a replacement hip joint? I've recently gotten one with the same issue and I want to know if there's any way to get that fixed!
Thanks!
@@kyllerkill that gives me great relief to read. Thanks!
Can’t wait to see how this will look side by side with the recently announced HG Ryujinmaru
Frosty Cat.
Is the enemy mech unit named Hot Dog?
Absolutely amazing kit 👏🏽🙀
the best PR kit[ or is it] dosen't exi-
hey Mech, can you do a review on the Full-Armour Unicorn Ver. Ka? been wanting to see a review on it specifically from you for a long long time now. would also help in making my decision on whether to buy it or not. thanks!
Yep that is the kit i want to have but I can't find it in Vietnam
I always rewatch this video and attempt to look for the kit online and realize its nearly impossible to find I hope they rerelease this thing someday.
“It’s all perfect except for that hip joint” *trauma with mg freedom gundam 2.0 intensifies*
Barcatos Feline Rex
If the price wasn’t such a gut-punch, id get this in an instant.
It’s only $100. For a pg. that’s super cheap considering Bandai charges $300 for theirs. And this figure is worth it through and through. You won’t be disappointed. Mine came perfect. I haven’t heard of any defects till I saw this review.
Very cool looking!
When will you release the Sazabi Ver.Ka? I would like your opinion on it.
I hope there is a mg size of this one... surely its gonna make a crazy custom build from it.. XD
I know this came out first, but it looks a lot like the Gundam Aerial especially in the shoulders chest waist and thighs.
Love this need one in my life now
This is such a cool looking kit, but dear god I need that sword for my Gundam kitbash, it would be perfect.
The torso reminds you of new gundam from Mercury Witch.
