OMG! A great horned owl!! I've never been able to pet one cause you don't get to pet them a lot near where I live even though nature centres sometimes keep them if they're injured you don't get to get too close! They're so lucky!
But Mimei.... I don't understand being Vegetarian and supporting animal captivity. Birds are not meant to live in cafes (∩︵∩) Are they rescued or rehabilitated or...something?
I agree, I also don't understand how mimei and Duncan can support buying a cat (cinnamon punk) versus adopting or rescuing one. It sucks bc they are so cool, they just need to learn I guess, bc I didn't know about these things either at one point.

Also, some animals are literally kept from going extinct by zoos, where they generally live longer lives than in the wild. So it's a very multifaceted topic and I'd appreciate if you asked my opinion rather than assuming it. -Mimei
BillundBerries We rescued Latte. Have you tried adopting as a foreigner in Japan? They refuse. They don't believe you'll look after it, or stay in Japan. It's like getting an apartment here except actually worse. We bought Cinnamon because we fell in love with him. They said he was "too big" to sell. We bought him. It's arguable whether that was rescuing a cat but I like to think we saved him from a worse fate. But by all means learn me, just make sure the facts are relevant to Japan because Japan is very different from other countries. -Mimei

i really love how caring the employees are of the owls, you could tell the guy in red towards the end really treasured that owl! honestly as long as they're in a safe and happy environment, i think i'm okay with the birds being in a cafe. ^-^
