    The thing about complicated tools with multiple functions: they do none of them well.
    5 "gadgets" that would be *useful*: knife, axe or saw, ferro rod, cordage, wool coat or blanket

  • @Jesusandbible
    @Jesusandbible 7 лет назад +158

    The axehead for rich people is useful. Good to know rich people can now survive. But usually they choose a 50 foot yacht instead,

    • @Jesusandbible
      @Jesusandbible 7 лет назад +2

    It's adding crap features to tools that should rightfully be standalone anyways. So realistically you can't be passively using the carabiner for anything useful if you'd need to start a fire, use the bottle opener, or utilize the knife edge. I'll stick with standalone tools.
    These are not survival tools, these are camping accessories.

    • @Sabazius2101
      @Sabazius2101 7 лет назад +1

      no. No one listen to this crap. If you can't figure out how to use it. Then don't. whatever. But if you want to know how. view a brief summary on physics. This has been made so simple by these hard working, intelligent men. Until you have used one yourself. Just be quiet with the negative review. because it's not a review if you havent used it and don't know what you're talking about right??? I'm gonna say 99% right. I'll challenge you to 30 days in the wild. Me with these multi tool products, and you with a bag full of wrenches and matches. whatever you want. These tools are superior and now hold many human being's survival on the line... Physics brother. PHYSICS. It's Great To Learn ;)

    • @Keatononame13
      @Keatononame13 7 лет назад +10

      Joseph Garcia The fuck does anyone need a wrench and matches for in survival scenarios? You're delirious. I've never purchased an all in one tool that's ever even been half as good as its parent standalone. Asking me to be quiet about my negative review is the exact opposite of what the main benefit a free market symbolizes; competition for consumers. Physics, yeah right. They sure did their physical chemistry considering we all know the best axes ever created in the world have been machined out of billet titanium right? These products are a marketing gimmick designed for gullible fools for people you so clearly have emphasized. Enjoy your camping accessories Joseph, at least you'll have a great conversation starter when you crack open your coronas tailgating.

    • @Keatononame13
      @Keatononame13 7 лет назад +1

      Joseph Garcia Never said I've never used a multi-tool. The rest of your comment (or what I read of it) seems like senseless jargon. You're arguing with yourself. Have a better day Mr. Garcia. Will be muting this comment for obvious reasons.

    FACT: if you integrate silver into the straw it will purify it even more because silver has anti-bacteria properties

    • @ivan8or
      @ivan8or 7 лет назад +2

      silver oxidizes quickly though... It won't last for long at all and it's not like it kills bacteria and stuff instantly anywayd

    • @uxmalsoto4477
      @uxmalsoto4477 7 лет назад +1

      ivan volkov actually ( and you can do research on this ) it can kill bacteria in just a few seconds that fastest being recorded 1 sec they used it when the issue of purifying water in space came up, and silver can last a long time if you keep it in good condition

    • @ivan8or
      @ivan8or 7 лет назад +2

      firstly the average time for silver to kill bacterium is around 5 minutes, secondly its not like having it in repetitive contact with water is going to allow it to prevent from oxidizing for long

    • @uxmalsoto4477
      @uxmalsoto4477 7 лет назад +2

      allow me to re-say my comment charcoal has silver in it not huge amounts but it still does now that can filter water and cure it of any bacteria's and if you own a water filter those little black balls that you see before the main filter take in a lot of the bacteria and the main filter catches any that got by and ps your picture you just look like a douche ivan volkov

      Dan M mummert knives does an axe with a carbidized edge. It holds the edge very well. The problem with titanium axes is the girth makes it hard to get a good bite further into cutting.

    • @nathanielholland-pass4618
      @nathanielholland-pass4618 7 лет назад +11

      Dan M surly you want an axe to be heavier to hold momentum and chop harder, you don't make a sledgehammer out of plastic

    Just watch Primitive Technology on RUclips and actually learn something

    • @MrJuanduenas
      @MrJuanduenas 5 лет назад +3

      Mostly fake. Bushcraft channels are the real thing.

    • @Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger
      @Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger 4 года назад +3

      @@MrJuanduenas Kinda yes kinda no, Primitive Technology is about construction. It isn't a survivalist page nor is it meant to be, so it isn't fake - just different type of channel. The intent is to make things more comfortable/liveable long term.
      Bushcraft channels are about living off the land and making use of what's available then and there; it's with the assumption you'll eventually be leaving, but if you take a bit longer you'll be ok.
      If you combine Primitive Technology (the actual channel, not suggesting a broad group of channels) and bushcraft channels you'll basically be set; you'd have a hut with fired tiles, a kiln, clay pottery, etc in addition to being able to forage, create necessary tools and cordage, find your bearings, and basically live comfortably.

    • @MrJuanduenas
      @MrJuanduenas 4 года назад +3

      @@Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger I don't think you are aware of the fact that many of the primitive technology channels are fake. They are basicly people in the 3rd world using modern tools for the majority of the builds, and playing it off as a primitive build. They do it for the ad revenue. It is kinda like how Venezuelans play runescape to sell the CP for USD, because the in game money is worth more than bolívars. The real pygmies and primitive people are to busy surviving. In the case of the pygmies they are trying to avoid being raped and bloodletted, because it is believed that their essence is the cure for aids. Don't believe everything you see on youtube. Yawn

    All Anyone needs to survive:
    1. A knife. Could be any kind, but I prefer a Bowie.
    2. A water purifier, and some backup filters.
    3. A bow and a decent supply of arrows. A gun and some bullets could also work. Good for hunting.
    4. Matches.
    5. The know how. If you don't know what the hell you doing, no amount of equipment can save you.

    The guy in the video skipped over the gut hook but mentioned the bottle opener, which makes me sure that the guy in the video was just 'selling a knife' and knows nothing about them.. also why make a $600 titanium axe head?, you usually want axe heads to have some weight.. seems like yuppie bait to me

      While I agree the Klax seems like an over designed paperweight, the tree felling demonstration wasn't about showing the Klax knock down a tree effortlessly. The tree was already sawed most of the way and then the Klax was used to beat in the wedge to get the tree to fall in the desired direction. It just shows that it passes as a hammer.

    • @Skibbified
      @Skibbified 7 лет назад

      They add the "purification" via killing versus just trapping (they claim). What they fail to explain is that with LifeStraw or Sawyer products, you blast out the remaining water which will clear SOME of the bacteria in the straw and will then dry out. They also fail to mention A) it's true that LifeStraw won't filter out viruses (while Sawyer will, based on their advertised filter size), but if you're in North America, we don't have much concern with waterborne viruses, only bacteria and cysts, amoebas. They did mention it for if you're traveling, and that's good if you're out of North America. Sawyer filters out to 0.1 microns which covers viruses (Lifestraw is 0.2), it filters up to 100,000 gallons per their claims (Lifestraw is 264), and comes with several extras--like a bag to fill with water and squeeze through, an attachment for water bottles, a backwash syringe, etc, and it doesn't need replacement filters, and it costs less than $25 US. Lifestraw doesn't come with anything and is less than $20 US. Both are good, Sawyer seems better.

    3:28: "Full Tang Steel" - Marketing wording detected.
    There is no such thing as "Full Tang Steel". Full tang means the Tang (the part of the metal that goes into the handle) is visible from above, below and behind, with the handle being mae of two "Handle Scales" slapped onto the tang using pins/screws and an adhesive such as epoxy.

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 7 лет назад +3

      Full Tang means the blade and handle are one piece. You don't have to "see" it to have it be full tang. It has nothing to do with how the scales are attached.

    • @severusfumizuki9934
      @severusfumizuki9934 7 лет назад

      Mike L
      Wrong. Google the term.
      A "full tang" is exactly what I describe above. A tang that isn't visible, is called a PARTIAL TANG, most of which are either "half-tangs" or "three-quarters".
      What you describe is a "handleless" blade, meaning a knife where the tang is the handle, with no handle scales required.

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 7 лет назад +3

      Severus Fumizuki no I'm not wrong. I did Google the term as well. Full tang is where the blade and handle are one and the handle steel is the same size as the grip material.

    • @severusfumizuki9934
      @severusfumizuki9934 7 лет назад

      Mike L
      You just described what I described above. So we can both agree that I am right. Good.

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 7 лет назад +2

      Severus Fumizuki You were saying the handle steel has to be visible. My point was it does not have to be visible to make it a full tang blade. Plenty of full tang blades have the steel concealed by the scales / grips.

    What's this obsession with making spears out of knives? How stupid does one have to be to risk ones primary survival tool by waving it at objects at the end of a stick - and when would you even use it?

    • @whynottalklikeapirat
      @whynottalklikeapirat 7 лет назад

      ***** I don't know why you'd consider a spear the most efficient and safe approach to a zombie fight. In a city scenario things would be different anyway, but If zombies were for some reasons roaming the deep forests and farway places of the earth, and I had to engage them in close combat in those places for some bizarre reason I would most likely use firehardened wooden tip or some other material just like our ancestors, and not risk my main survival tool. Why survive zombies to die from exposure come nightfall? Anyway I'd most likely just steer clear of them. You appear to be short of a ... point.

    I really wish people would learn the difference between an AXE and a HATCHET.
    Here, for those of you who don't know; Axe has a long handle and is wielded with two hands, a hatchet has short handle and is wielded with one hand. If they were the same thing then there wouldn't be two different names.

    I went and checked out the msk-1 knife on their website, the starter package is $300 + $87 shipping! I am tired of the people charging you a mint for something because it "may" save your life. BS for the same money I could put together a lightweight survival package that would give me a lot better chance of survival. These are just toys for the rich so they can flash them and brag about what they could accomplish if they get locked out of their hotel room without room service.

    Bought my Gerber Strongarm for ~$50 with free, 2 day shipping via Amazon Prime. Made in Portland, Oregon and comes with lifetime warranty. If you aren't a knucklehead, this knife will last you that long. You could probably abuse it for a long, long time. So it's $320 less than the one in the video, but the handle doesn't come off it. Ever.
