  • After two years of playing around on the 2016 Sea Doo Spark ACE that was upgraded, I decided to purchase the 2018 Sea Doo Spark Trixx and find out what real differences there are. I'll explain a bit more in depth what my thoughts are on these in another video, but enjoy some novice on a trixx.

    Congrats on the new Trixx! I have a 2017 that is tuned with a custom pitched 12/15 Skat Trak impeller. At first I was using a 12/14 and experienced too many rpm’s (5700 at 51mph). I look forward to your comparison video.

    You are still in breakin mode for the first 10 hours of use, every 5 hours it will give you more and more power to use. This allows the machine to break it in properly.

      0H 0m..... cut to ... give her hell at 0h 1min (redline, wheelie, jumps) .... nice break in regime he's following I see. Thats how you get a nice condition spark with 14 hours that was beat to hell during those 14 hours then sold off lol.
      Thats why its best to buy a brand new unit, break it in properly and keep it for a few years, vs a "USED -- well kept" unit.

    Hi there! I'm in the process of choosing which model I want to buy and I narrowed it down to either the regular Spark or the Spark Trixx. BRP's website is kind of sketchy when it comes to details and you seem to know your stuff. I've looked up a couple of your vids and I would need a bit more info on the tuning part which I'm not sure I understand what it really means.
    Right off the bat, the Trixx is more appealing to me based on the look, the trim options and the raw HP of the engine (60HP seems a bit low to me on the regular Spark). So I guess my question is if I buy a Trixx, do I need to spend more money to have someone tune it for me? If so, what exactly will be tuned? If I keep it stock, will I be able to still get the most out of it ?
    You see, I'm no expert at all and I would like to understand stuff before dumping over 10k in a machine (I'm canadian).
    Thanks bro :)

      Take my advice, never ever start with tuning a jetski, because you end up crying, swearing and wrenching alot of hours on the beach.
      I ride jetski's for almost 30 years and kept all my ski's original, and non of them did fail on me ever, besides a blocked 5 dollar check valve, and that's it.
      Now i don't know the spark, but it's made out of a strong plastic and weighs nothing compared with fiderglass models, so the 90hp trixx looks like a fun
      ski to me. Maybe you could install another impeller and a ride plate on it, but i wouldn't touch the engine. And the cheapest way is to buy a normal 60hp
      and have that chipped to 90hp, because it's just a chip thing that else would set you back a extra 1400 dollars for the 90hp version.

    • @solidbry1055
      @solidbry1055 3 года назад

      @@ronniedoorzon1576 Yeah you are correct. I've bought the Trixx and after trying it out, there's absolutely no need for me to screw with it just to get an additional 1 or 2 mph. It's fast enough for me needs. The idea behind that machine was that it was cheap to buy and came with cool features like the trim, fuel economy and the sport mode. I barely notice it on my truck's fuel consumption too when I bring it to the cottage.
      That machine is an absolute blast and I'm enjoying it very much!

    • @oneeyedrone4293
      @oneeyedrone4293 3 года назад

      @@jadelees9005 the xp is smaller and very unstable compared to a spark. I still like the old x4 hull but the motors were trash, all of the 720, 787, 951)
      The 951 XP especially was a total dumpster fire, no one liked them, they were unreliable, they rolled over if you stopped on the water (even as a light rider). Just total trash, and the resale value shows that.
      The spark is a great machine for what it is, 4 stroke, Fuel injected, light, inexpensive to buy, repair/maintain etc. But its an entry level ski, the old jet skis, 2 strokes, oil injected DI models even were just a total headache every-time on the water. Anyone that says they love older jet skis, must love working on them since I HATE Maintaining the old skis.
      One thing Seadoo got right with the spark is they made it start up every time.

    • @jadelees9005
      @jadelees9005 3 года назад +1

      OneEyeDrone yea I don’t like two strokes that much either but maintenance on it isn’t as easy as you think and every time you wanna take the top half off you have to take all of those dumb screws that and you have to disconnect the steering cable in order to take it completely off. So every time you ride your spark in salt water you have to clean everything or it’ll completely go to shit. I’ve seen two year old sparks be completely be cover in corrosion and sea doos are knows for they’re exhaust leaks. I know it seems that I’ve gone off topic but for salt water you have to spend like an hour cleaning your jet ski afterwards on the inside. They could’ve came up with a better design for it cause the spark flips a lot and gets swamped so it’s always getting water in it. They’re not a good design in the long run cause they corrode fast and sea doos get exhaust leaks and they’re carbon rings leak too so always starting isn’t impressive. It’s about being able to drive on the water. There’s been many times where me and my father get a jet ski that’s runs perfect on the trailer but the second you put it on the water it’s falls on it’s face. What I’m saying is just cause it starts doesn’t mean it works and sea doos have never impressed me other than the older rxp’s

    Men these look so modern these 2018, and powerful. Does they really go only 50mph, this is like 90km/h, very fast for water actually, but when I know new modern jets are like 150hp or 200hp, I imagine superbike speeds divided by 2 in the water. So instead of 300km/h, like 130km/h

      depends on what you want to be doing on the water. if it's just going fast, look elsewhere

      Manipulate the computer inside the jet ski to push out more horsepower. This is done by basically making the throttle more responsive. There's more to that that I explain in my other videos. Check them out if you need more info!

    the 18 trixx looks alot better than the 17.
    but, i dont understand why people buy the trixx. the vts is not needed, its way too easy to do a "wheelie". with my 60 tuned non ibr/vts its much harder, but also much more fun.

    • @WeTryMotorsports
      @WeTryMotorsports  5 лет назад +1

      I agree, it was a test to see if the trixx was worth it. Although fun, I would purchase a 60 ACE, tune and upgrade it if I had to do it all over again. I got the trixx for 6199 after rebates and incentives, so it was worth it.
